The service is good and everything seems a very reasonable value. Quite ingeniously, they charge €3 for every piece of sushi you don't eat from the all-you-can-eat menu. I think this makes a lot of sense, and also makes sure that unlike most of this style of restaurant, your eyes aren't bigger than your stomach. Unfortunately on my second visit, my girlfriend had a very upset stomach afterwards, hence the 2 stars. We think it was a slight excess in the consummation of ginger, but nonetheless, her stomach was upset. It's a shame, because it's a nice place and the food was of very good quality for the price.

The service however was more what I would expect on the Champs d'Elyse on a hot August day: surly and impatient. I would have given another star if the service would have been up to par. It wasn't a language issue as I ordered in both French and in Japanese and we got exactly what we wanted, but both our server and the Sushi chef were in apparent foul moods. The older lady that was working was much better though. This place is not cheap and a low price bottle of Saki was 27euro. My hope is that when the food is great, that the staff would match.

Their food is really great, particularly the yakitoris. The restaurant is always quite full but we never had to wait to be seated. The service is always decently fast and nice. The restaurant in the heart of Paris, close to the museum of modern art and is very easy to access by subway. Unfortunately, the restaurant does not offer parking and it will be extremely hard to find a parking spot in this area of Paris so I would definitely recommend taking the subway. One good thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere. You can either sit inside or outside, but I would definitely recommend inside, because of the very nice and intimate atmosphere if you sit in the room in the very back. Overall, my experience with Sushi Wa was always very positive and I would recommend it for lunch or dinner. Feel free to message me for any additional details that you may need!

The staff are very friendly - even when my friend told them he was in a hurry and would need his food more quickly than what they told us. (They basically said, ok, monsieur, we'll fix it.) They have menus in English and they're happy to make recommendations. The restaurant is bright, clean, and happy-looking, and the area where you can take off your shoes and sit in a hole in the ground (so it looks like you're sitting on the floor) is quite cool. The décor is great and the mirrors make the place seem bigger than it is. The food is absolutely delicious! The takoyaki are their specialty and definitely worth tasting. For my main dish I had salmon teriyaki, and while it was also delicious, I can agree with some previous reviews that it was a little bit flavorless - I would have preferred much more teriyaki. The pricing is decent for what you get. All in all a great experience!

Unfortunately for my palate, experience has proved that you should always trust Yelp over your friends. We had an OK bacon-kimshi salad (€9), then their speciality, an okonomiyaki, a kind of cabbage crêpe with lots of weird ingredients inside (€14-16). Everything was pretty much flavorless, except the abundant sugary sauce they poured all over (kind of a mix between barbecue sauce and Japanese mayonnaise). And we found the price way too high for such dishes. However, the waiters are nice, and the place itself is pretty cool - they have a room where you have to remove your shoes before going, which is funny. I spend an excellent evening, but won't be coming back any time soon.

One late morning, I took my big pregnant craving in the opposite direction of my office and bought a two lunch boxes and bought a special bento that had a grilled fish, grilled chicken, and shrimp tempura, a chicken donburi, and a green tea chiffon cake. The food was decent, but the price was not. 29 EUR for the three items and neither my husband nor I were full. I'm not sure I would eat there even if I pass by, let alone make a special trip there. They are opening a new location on Ile ste germaine, which is much closer to me, but I doubt i'd walk there for such expensive, non-filling food.

The menu didn't look like much and I couldn't find my fave dish: eel but I was hungry and decided to give it a try. The japanese chef made eye contact and invited me to take a seat at the counter in front of him, which I did. 5 minutes later, the waiter walks by, looks at me and tells me the seat is reserved and gestures me to sit over there in the back, which I do. I get a grilled salmon and tap japanese beer, setting me back about 17EU which is decent and the food is ok, nothing bad about it but really nothing standing out either. About 10 mn later I realize I picked rush hour. The place has become packed full and the noise level is now unpleasant. People are lining up inside and outside and waiting for empty spots. Some are eyeing my table rather obviously. One woman pulled out the chair in front of me and rested her coat on it, I thought she was about to join me at the table but she was looking to pay her check at the counter and obviously not very keen on manners. In disbelief, I looked up and before I said anything to her, her male companion apologized and they rushed out. The waiter said nothing and just continued whatever he was doing. Unbelievable. My experience was not good, but maybe it was a bad day. What is certain, is that the food I got was not out of the ordinary, and for a restaurant in the famed japanese district, it was below expectations.
