I keep coming back to this place because it is just that good! I always, always order the poke bowl. It's so filling, fresh, and perfectly presented. This place is super special to me because I love the mix of Mexican and Asian. I love coming here! read more

Alright, where do I even begin? Let's start with the appetizers. Steamed gyoza: Wow... zero flavor. It honestly tasted like grabbing a frozen bag of potstickers from Costco and throwing them in a steamer. Then they had the audacity to serve us a sauce with chamoy in it. Absolutely absurd for a restaurant with "sushi" in the name. Egg rolls: Super skinny, but surprisingly decent. They had a basic flavor and honestly didn't need sauce. I wouldn't compare them to Panda Express egg rolls, but they were okay. And then... the miso soup. Oh brother. If you were looking for the salt that was missing from the appetizers, it was ALL in the miso. Y'all remember that SpongeBob episode where he's screaming, "I need water!"? Yeah. One spoonful and my tongue shriveled up. So far: I would skip all three. Then came the Mango Fish Tostadas. Let's just skip everything in the name and call them Mystery No-Fruit Tostadas. No real flavor, just crunch followed by an unusual amount of mayo-based sauce. Nooooooo thanks. And if you're actually there for sushi, I'd honestly reconsider. A lot of the menu seems centered around fried rolls, heavy mayo sauces, and chamoy. If that's your thing, more power to you -- everyone has different tastes. But if you're looking for what I would consider a more traditional sushi experience, this was not it. At that point, I think they could just take "Sushi" out of the restaurant name and call it Madre. I took one bite of the tuna and literally couldn't bite through it. Then came this intense hot/fishy flavor. Sushi should not be served warm, and the tuna did not taste fresh to me at all. I couldn't do it. And the wasabi? It didn't even resemble the wasabi I'm used to. It was basically wet clay. Obviously, we ate one gyoza each and one spoonful of the miso soup. We didn't touch the rest. We let our waitress know what was going on--not rudely, but because we genuinely wanted to understand what we were being served. Even though we barely ate anything, we still paid for everything. The manager did speak with us and asked what was wrong, I offered for her to try each sushi so she could understand and she told me she doesn't like fish Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience for us. If you're looking for a more traditional sushi experience, this definitely wasn't what we expected. If you enjoy heavily fried rolls, lots of mayo-based sauces, chamoy, and that style of fusion food, you may actually enjoy this place. But if you're specifically looking for traditional sushi and fresh-tasting fish, this was not our experience. The sauces as well are just watered down with sugar, a hummingbird would do quite well with them. They also play very loud music that would not normally be found in a Japanese environment. Definitely will be saying what? What? A lot during conversations. Just sharing our experience so people know what to expect before they go. read more

I ordered the Spicy Tuna roll, hamachi nigiri and unsweetened tea. Te hamachi had great flavor and nicely presented, but the temperature was as if it was almost frozen. Like it was too close to the refrigeration. I've had the Spicy tuna roll before, but I didn't get the sauces that usually come with it. It was spicier than what I've had before, which is fine for me, and it look like they are using mayo-based spice, which I prefer, and not the sprinkles on cayenne style seasoning. The tea was murky, an indication that it was brewed the day before and then refrigerated, and had a light sweetness to it. The "soy sauce" bottle (it said soy sauce but it was very very light as if diluted, was uncomfortably sticky on the outside. Server was super awesome. This is still my favorite sushi place so far and highly recommend. read more

The nigiri had too much lime, and my nigiri's salmon had a tendon that made it too chewy and not enjoyable. Kids only get 1 refill for free which seems a bit stingy. I did like the combo for sushi rolls that added a salad/soup and fried rice. Fried rice was the best. Overall, not worth it for the price. read more

Two words -- Sushi Madre! A MUST try! Let's just say I drove over an hour total to come pick up that Cilantro Salmon plate. I don't even like cilantro like that(until then)...oh and you'll appreciate the inviting decor, first second and third date atmosphere with top service from the moment you walk in and being greeted by Yetzai(my cashier) to management(Alexis) correcting your payment mishaps and offering you to try their cucumber lemonade. Amazing staff and tasty food. Can't lose! I had a 5 worthy experience. It's your turn... read more

If I could give a zero I would... because that's how they treated me, like I didn't exist. I didn't get seated for 15mins, but it was full so understandable. When I finally got seated, I sat there for 10 minutes before someone asked if I was ready to order. "Um, I haven't even gotten a menu yet." Another 5 min to get a menu, and ordered hot green tea. A different waiter did ask if I wanted a drink, I told him I ordered. 20 minutes go by and nothing...I mean NOTHING! No invite to order, no hot green tea, no attention whatsoever. I left. So ZERO rating. Too bad because the menu looked interesting and it was packed. Oh well. Maybe you'll have better luck read more

So awesome! Excellent service. Excellent sushi. So clean. Will definitely go back. Loved it! Spicy edamame was great!!

Had such a great meal at Sushi Madre! I tried the mixed yakisoba, gyozas, and a chicken roll -- each dish was flavorful and well-prepared. The yakisoba had a perfect balance of noodles, veggies, and seasoning, the gyozas were crisp on the outside and tender inside, and the chicken roll was fresh and light. The service was friendly, and the portions were generous. The layout is open and clean. Highly recommend if you're craving a Japanese Mexican fusion. read more

My husband and I stopped by at an odd time because I was craving sushi. When we walked in, we were welcomed and seated. We were immediately tended to and given drinks, so great service! The strawberry lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet. There was a variety of food options, including alternative and traditional types sushi. You can upgrade any roll to a combo for 2.99, getting rice and salad/soup. The presentation is beautiful and the portions are large. My husband got the yakisoba, which he didn't like because it was very sweet. I got the villareal tempura roll, which was pretty good for what it was. Unfortunately, our food wasn't brought out at the same time. Strangely enough, there was a loud crying baby sound coming from the kitchen. Despite this, I'd definitely recommend stopping by Sushi Madre and getting something to eat. read more

I've been here twice now and it's been great both times. The first time we ordered the spicy edamame which came in a kind of spicy stew that was so delicious, I saved the sauce and spread it on everything. We also had two of their "tacos" (el Edgar y la tóxica) that were really good (especially with that sauce to add a kick). My boyfriend had the Yakisoba mixed which was very flavorful although the meat was a bit overcooked making it a tad tough to chew. I ordered the combo which came with a miso soup, rice, and a roll. I opted for a breaded roll which was just ok; I think the breading overpowered the flavor of the sushi, so I think next time I'll pick an unbreaded roll. The second time I went, we ordered the teppanyaki mixed, chipotle chicken, and I had the mango fish tostadas. I highly recommend the tostadas. Super fresh and tangy, sweet, and spicy with enough food to be a full meal. The chipotle chicken plate was tender and juicy and a huge portion (enough for two) as was the teppanyaki (although again the ribeye was flavorful but a bit overcooked). Next time we think we'll get it with just shrimp. All in all, this place offers flavor combinations that are new and delicious. We will definitely return to try out some more dishes. The service was great both times; made us feel welcome and well taken care of. So if you're looking for something new, give this place a try. Está con madre Sushi Madre! read more

Even though this is Sushi Madre newest location and they were crazy busy during the grand opening the staff was friendly and efficient. Food was great, you really get your money's worth! I keep recommending it to my friends! read more

Family friendly atmosphere and they have a private room for special events. My son ordered the chicken nuggets with fries and he loved them. We ordered appetizers Mango Fish Tostadas, Crunchy Calamari and Spicy Edamame. For main entree we ordered the Fresh Hector Roll and Tempura California Roll Mucho Rollo combos which include fried rice and Crab Cucumber salad. We also tried the Mixed Yakisoba which has beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables. We also ordered the Poblano soup and it wasn't spicy. They were able to split the Cilantro Salmon plate that I wanted to share with my niece, she loved it. For dessert we had the choco roll. Everything was delicious, highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back. read more
