Server didn't speak a lick of English. Exhausting already...as she got our drinks wrong and gave attitude when I corrected her. Why does everything in the valley have to be a Mexican fusion restaurant with hot Cheetos or takis on the menu? Almost every single roll has cream cheese in it. They don't give out wasabi or the normal setup for sushi restaurants. We came here because it had the highest reviews in the valley for sushi and won't be back. Had to beg the waitress for our change? She stood with the cashier up from staring at us. When I handed her cash, I clearly said "I want my change." Guess she wanted a 40% tip?? Gave us attitude for wanting our change. People like this that work here are lazy to learn to learn the language, lazy to check up on you, mad that you won't give them a handout. I'll let you take a guess who they are. Also, if they ask you to do a combo, it's so they can upcharge you for rice and a salad that's limp. I ordered the Spicy Tuna roll, hamachi nigiri and unsweetened tea. Te hamachi had great flavor and nicely presented, but the temperature was as if it was almost frozen. Like it was too close to the refrigeration. I've had the Spicy tuna roll before, but I didn't get the sauces that usually come with it. It was spicier than what I've had before, which is fine for me, and it look like they are using mayo-based spice, which I prefer, and not the sprinkles on cayenne style seasoning. The tea was murky, an indication that it was brewed the day before and then refrigerated, and had a light sweetness to it. The "soy sauce" bottle (it said soy sauce but it was very very light as if diluted, was uncomfortably sticky on the outside. Server was super awesome. If I could give a zero I would... because that's how they treated me, like I didn't exist. I didn't get seated for 15mins, but it was full so understandable. When I finally got seated, I sat there for 10 minutes before someone asked if I was ready to order. "Um, I haven't even gotten a menu yet." Another 5 min to get a menu, and ordered hot green tea. A different waiter did ask if I wanted a drink, I told him I ordered. 20 minutes go by and nothing...I mean NOTHING! No invite to order, no hot green tea, no attention whatsoever. I left. Had such a great meal at Sushi Madre! I tried the mixed yakisoba, gyozas, and a chicken roll -- each dish was flavorful and well-prepared. The yakisoba had a perfect balance of noodles, veggies, and seasoning, the gyozas were crisp on the outside and tender inside, and the chicken roll was fresh and light. The service was friendly, and the portions were generous. The layout is open and clean. Highly recommend if you're craving a Japanese Mexican fusion. read more

My husband and I stopped by at an odd time because I was craving sushi. When we walked in, we were welcomed and seated. We were immediately tended to and given drinks, so great service! The strawberry lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet. There was a variety of food options, including alternative and traditional types sushi. You can upgrade any roll to a combo for 2.99, getting rice and salad/soup. The presentation is beautiful and the portions are large. My husband got the yakisoba, which he didn't like because it was very sweet. I got the villareal tempura roll, which was pretty good for what it was. Unfortunately, our food wasn't brought out at the same time. Strangely enough, there was a loud crying baby sound coming from the kitchen. Despite this, I'd definitely recommend stopping by Sushi Madre and getting something to eat. read more

I've been here twice now and it's been great both times. The first time we ordered the spicy edamame which came in a kind of spicy stew that was so delicious, I saved the sauce and spread it on everything. We also had two of their "tacos" (el Edgar y la tóxica) that were really good (especially with that sauce to add a kick). My boyfriend had the Yakisoba mixed which was very flavorful although the meat was a bit overcooked making it a tad tough to chew. I ordered the combo which came with a miso soup, rice, and a roll. I opted for a breaded roll which was just ok; I think the breading overpowered the flavor of the sushi, so I think next time I'll pick an unbreaded roll. The second time I went, we ordered the teppanyaki mixed, chipotle chicken, and I had the mango fish tostadas. I highly recommend the tostadas. Super fresh and tangy, sweet, and spicy with enough food to be a full meal. The chipotle chicken plate was tender and juicy and a huge portion (enough for two) as was the teppanyaki (although again the ribeye was flavorful but a bit overcooked). Next time we think we'll get it with just shrimp. All in all, this place offers flavor combinations that are new and delicious. We will definitely return to try out some more dishes. Family friendly atmosphere and they have a private room for special events. My son ordered the chicken nuggets with fries and he loved them. We ordered appetizers Mango Fish Tostadas, Crunchy Calamari and Spicy Edamame. For main entree we ordered the Fresh Hector Roll and Tempura California Roll Mucho Rollo combos which include fried rice and Crab Cucumber salad. We also tried the Mixed Yakisoba which has beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables. We also ordered the Poblano soup and it wasn't spicy. They were able to split the Cilantro Salmon plate that I wanted to share with my niece, she loved it. For dessert we had the choco roll.
