For sushi, Sushi Koya is very affordable given that the sushi is sizable and great quality. My partner and I walked in and were immediately seated. The vibe was calm and relaxed when we were there. My partner and I ordered the Dinosaur Eggs, the Salmon Lover Roll, and the Volcano Roll. Our server was friendly and efficient and took our orders in no time. The Dinosaur Eggs were true to their name because they were big. Taste-wise, they were pretty good but nothing special. The Salmon Lover Roll was our favorite and the mango in the middle didn't overpower the salmon (I find some salmon mango rolls to be too sweet). The Volcano Roll was also decent but nothing special. The fish for all the dishes were fresh though and the portions were great. If you don't wanna pay the price for a special roll, Sushi Koya also has Maki Mondays starting 8pm and you can get tons of maki rolls for cheap. So if you wanna get Sushi at Mohegan Sun, it's definitely worth it.
First time Diner and I'm so glad I switched my previous reservation to this establishment. There is not enough reviews for this location to signify how amazingly fresh and tasty this food is. Staff is so friendly and food comes out fast and so flavorful. The ambiance is small but cute loving the ecstatics with the deco art. The food is deliciously tasty and just soo freaking fresh. It was definitely made with a lot of love and we will be back again....
Decent, contemporary if eclectic collection of unconventional sushi, with a wide array of American and other influences, e.g. clam chowder. A bit pricey but definitely one of the better venues at the casino, and fairly large in portions. Good for any party or occasion. Food is decent but not exceptional.
I enjoyed my quick sushi dinner. Staff was friendly. Food was delicious. I ordered the edamame and Martini Bowl. Didn't take a whole lot of pictures because i was having a great conversation with another guest that sat at the sushi bar next to me. Great place for singles, couples and families. Call bar and dining areas. Self seating. First come, first serve.
Haven't done a review for 2-3 years, lost my Yelp Elite status, lol. This place is right next the hotel lobby, used to be a coffee shop that I go to, sad. But I am glad it's Sushi, the only Sushi place at the Casino, can't complain too much. The oyster was good but the Clam was amazing, freshest! Got the Sushi appetizer which was good but nothing to write home about, might have been pre-made sitting in ice? Given that the fish doesn't look shiny. but it's a much better deal at $12 than the Sushi regular ($28 for 7 ). The American dream roll was very complex & tasty with soft shell crab, but one piece had crab that tasted a bit fishy. This was with beer, without beer, it might have been more fishy? Overall good, a bit pricy as expected.
This is a small restaurant that doesn't take reservations, but we were lucky to go on a quiet day. The service was friendly and the food was fast. The menu seemed pretty limited, but it is a small restaurant so they do a lot with what they've got. We ordered the high roller (with a Little Tokyo roll) and a Christmas roll. The Christmas roll was quite good, but we had a few issues with the high roller plate. The Little Tokyo roll has a lot of ingredients, but the menu didn't list spicy sauce as one of them, and unfortunately it was there like the guest you didn't invite to your party but they show up anyways. Even without it, the other issue was that everything blended into one generic flavor with no real standout. I'd have to recommend getting a more focused roll if you're looking for one flavor or another, it's a real shame to have so many great ingredients but not really the taste of any of them. The other issue was the shrinkflation present in the nigiri portions. The slices were very thin, so while they plated 10 pieces, they were each half pieces, so it was 5 normal size nigiri. Would I say what we got was worth $160? Absolutely not. In good news, they have a military discount. This is not the best sushi at not the best prices, but if it's Tuesday and the best place is closed, this isn't horrible.
Came here on a Saturday evening and got lucky to be seated right away. To our surprise, their food was delicious! Why do they have to be so far? Their sashimi was so fresh and the toro was amazing. Presentation of the food was so cute and pretty. Even their wings were good. (I always order wings no matter what). Definitely will go back.
Delicious sushi spot located inside the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut. Perfect spot for a lunch/quick bite , it's cozy and the fish was fresh. The server was attentive and everyone I interacted with was helpful. The music was lively, which I liked ( top 40's playlist) their drinks were super yummy and they presented it well. My mai tai was served in a coconut. I would recommend popping in if you're in the area Con: no bathroom in the restaurant, you have to pop into the next restaurant to find a toilet
really good sushi! i was definitely impressed with the food! would give 4.5 if i could because i didn't love the ambiance, though it's totally fine. i had a special salmon roll and alaska roll - both had fresh sushi and were very good. husband ordered a dragon egg and that was my favorite dish. i'd definitely order that if i come back.
Upscale sushi-ya at the casino, pricey novelty sushis & rolls, sushi donut, anyone? Was immediately seated at sushi bar and prompt water service. Waiter was attentive and food came out quickly. Appetizers are typical for a sushi restaurant, crazy maki rolls & novelty sushi, sashimi menu items. Ordered the martini glass, 6 different sashimi served in a martini glass or large spoon, in my case. Was intrigued by the sushi donut, hard to eat unless to pick the whole thing up and bite. It was ok. Restaurant was pretty busy, every table filled and baseball game on the tv. It was an ok experience.

Sushi hut/cabin I was at Mohegan Sun and was craving seafood. I was heading to Summer Shack when I saw this place. After my experience at Mori Sushi (I know you read that review), I wanted to try again. I was drawn to the neon sign and the board that said sushi pizza?!?!?! It's self seating and the waiting staff also covers the Summer Shack restaurant which was "look over your shoulder" close. I asked about the pizza which is rice shaped like a pizza crust with toppings on top. Funny that sounds like a POKE BOWL back home just......well in a bowl. I asked about the Sushi donut and well it's rice surrounding the fillings. Funny that sounds like a sushi ball back home. And I asked about the dinosaur eggs. I got this and you can gander at the pics. It's actually cool but difficult to eat. I also wanted one roll and couldn't decide between the Pacific Ocean or the American Dream. Both I've never heard of before. My server picked the American Dream for me. I like the roll you can dissect and recognize all the different parts of the roll unlike Mori's. The crab wasn't oily and had a nice crunch to it. The dinosaur eggs were funny. It's a tuna sushi ball wrapped with avocado all the way around and topped with masago. You get two and even through they look fantastic it's really really difficult to eat with chopsticks. I had to stab it and break it apart put some soy sauce and take pics. I don't feel this is worth the price or the taste. Overall four stars. The food okay and I really like the service and the decorations. It's like a modern day look at all the sushi stops I've been into. Small so seating is limited but I'm sure you can sit at the Summer Shack if it overflows. Now excuse me, time to get dessert. M

First time trying this place last night and it was very good. My husband and I sat at the sushi bar and our server was friendly, fast and informative about any menu questions we had. I got the Twisted Mermaid cocktail and it was light and refreshing. For a roll I got the Mermaid (it was a mermaid kinda night for me lol) and some salmon nigiri, both tasted very fresh and I also got an order of edamame. My hubby started with the Kani Salad and for his roll, he got the Paradise, some salmon and eel nigiri. He said all of them were great. We'll definitely come back here. read more
Came here on a Friday evening around 6 pm before a show at the casino. Parking and then walking in the casino is easy. We were able to get a table for two right away which was nice. The server was very friendly and gave great recommendations. The inside is small but nice with some tables and a sushi bar. Not too loud. We got an order of edamame and sushi appetizer to start. Both were yummy. The different fish of the sushi appetizer were fun to try and all delicious. I then got the black samurai special roll. It was very good. I think the prices were a little high but overall a very enjoyable meal! read more

I stopped by for lunch and got the gyoza, kani salad, and three sushi rolls. The service was great and our food arrived quickly. All of our food was delicious. We'll definitely be back the next time we're at Mohegan Sun! read more

Pretty good food and value. It was crowded so service is a little slow but the waitress is friendly. We sat at the bar and it is fun to watch the chefs make the sushi. read more

Visited for lunch on Sunday. Our server, David, was excellent! My daughter really wanted to try a sushi donut, but she's not a fan of spice, which they all seemed to include. Luckily, maybe because it was slow, but it seemed to be absolutely not an issue, so she ordered the Salmon Sushi donut (not spicy) $20. What came (see photo) was so fun, absolutely fresh and so delicious. She was overjoyed and there was a ton of fresh fish both inside and out. I ordered the Christmas roll ($21) and it did not disappoint! I think it's now my favorite sushi roll ever! I'm still thinking about it and I know not every sushi place makes them and they're certainly not up to par with the freshness of this one! Yes, it's expensive. You are at a casino in Connecticut. But, they filled us up enough to last until dinner time and we were so happy and fulfilled. David was a great server, the place is beautiful, clean and it's always fun watching the chefs prepare items. Thanks for a great lunch! read more
Sushi Koya, a fairly new addition to Mohegan Sun's list of restaurants located in the Sky Tower. Quaint, little gem of a restaurant, with table occupancy for about 20, plus a Sushi Bar to accommodate 8 more. The ambient lighting sets a warm and inviting environment, with waitstaff rounding out the friendly, polite and efficient service. As for the food. No lie, Sushi Koya reminded me of my first sushi foodgasm. Foodgasm: "The physical and emotional sensation experienced at the peak of an eating experience, usually resulting from stimulation of the taste buds and accompanied by a great atmosphere." Who knew walking into this restaurant would allow me a chance to relive an experience I hadn't come across in quite some time. To start, there was a play on the ever present Miso soup. Sushi Koya recreated this soup into a Lobster Miso...Can anyone say depth upon rich depth of flavors? The secondary app, Dragon Eggs, were uniform balls of thinly sliced avocado neatly wrapped around smooth, spicy tuna tartare with an addition of crunchy textures...sooo good! The mains chosen were your standard chef specialty rolls; Godzilla, Pink Lady and an item called American Dream. All of these rolls were fresh, mouth filled burst of flavors. Warm where they needed to be warm, plus cool and crunchy where needed. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Sushi Koya reminded me as to why I enjoyed eating sushi in the first place and now, if at all possible, I will try to never settle for anything less than the best in this cuisine. Sushi Koya is a small and cozy restaurant in the Mohegan Sun casino. My group consisted of 3 people and we were seated immediately. We came to drink sake and eat sushi. Our server was very nice but was all over the place. Our sushi was delicious, sake hot and amazing. Highly recommend! read more

Not too bad, but interesting place. The rolls are good and the dragon eggs are a fun addition and menu item, but I think it's just the little things like not having dumpling dipping sauce- and just regular soy sauce. We love sushi so I'd love to try more things next time we come, drinks are ok but they take a long time compared to when you get your food. read more

We sat at the sushi bar, I didn't get to sit down for very long as our ride was going to depart at a certain time from the casino. I only got to order a few things because of the limited time. Really wish I could have tasted the alcohol selection. From what I did order I enjoyed the quality but I personally wanted it to be less expensive for what I recieved. Then again it is in a casino so I figured this was the reason. I really enjoyed the way they made their spicy scallop roll. The decor was cute, bar display very nice. read more

The only sushi place within the resort. -the food quality is pretty good but I think it's way too expensive. We had two rolls on seaweed salad and a hot tea, it came down to 100$ without considering the tip. -staff is friendly but since it's busy they aren't that available. However the service is quick. -they don't take reservation just walk in, it's pretty big of a restaurant however the environment is not very pretty. -noisy restaurant -bottom line: it's the only sushi place here, it's expensive but the food is pretty good. Alright everybody, class is now in session! Ambiance:A+ Service:A+ Food quality:A+ Food selection: C Price:C Overall I would recommend this place to anyone! Great date spot- even though it's very small it's still upscale enough to come in 'all-dolled-up'! My only complaints are that for 2 sushi rolls and 2 drinks and a seaweed salad it was $65- reasonable for casino fare but overall slightly steep. That plus I was just annoyed that EVERY chef roll (~20) had either mango or avocado in it- I'm not an avocado person and mango is certainly a niche taste w sushi... literally every roll had one or the other. Anyways I know that's being nit-picky but just as a heads up! read more
This is a small, new-ish, casual sushi restaurant wedged next to the Summer Shack. It was adequate sushi at expectably-high-casino prices. The special chef rolls are cost about $20. We had the Christmas roll, Godzilla and Fancy Lobster roll. The Godzilla roll has a fried component to it and this was our favorite of the 3. The rolls could have been cut smaller or more uniformly since they are such a huge bite to commit to. Service was friendly and attentive enough. We let him know we were going to the concert so we needed to be fast. They were out of the warm cheapest sake option since their machine was broken. read more

Some of the best sushi I've had in a while. Our waiter (I wish I knew his name) was super friendly and able to answer any questions my fiancé and I had regarding the menu. We've already planned another trip to Mohegan in a couple weeks and we will definitely be going back! Highly recommend, 11/10! read more

Despite the busyness the server was very friendly and attentive. And the sushi was amazing and fresh, they didn't skimp on the fish with fillers. And they cleaned out tables thoroughly before we sat down. Everything tasted very clean, I was very pleasantly surprised. Although it wasn't perfect I commend them for being able to stay on track with the new covid guidelines. read more
