What a little gem, the staff members are all dressed up in traditional gear, and the general atmosphere is positive. With sake bottles used as decoration and dodgy old Japanese drifting videos playing in the background, it all adds to the experience. But it is the platters of food that will make this your regular hang out, good food and inexpensive to boot. Add a shot of sake or two, some Japanese beer and you've got a good night out. They hand out soya beans to nibble on, and the more you eat the better they get. Narita is a definite must do for all diners on the North Shore.

The menu is quite large and varied so there is something for everyone. I ordered the vegetarian set meal which was actually really large with many dishes. The teriyaki tofu was close to perfect - probably the best I've had. The rest of the dishes were a little greasy though and I didn't feel very authentic. They have a fairly big selection of Japanese beers - including on tap which is nice, as well as other Japanese alcohol.

Even on weeknights the place is packed (and they told us we would be fine on a Thurs evening with a large group, but not a seat left in the house as the night wore on). The food is tasty but expect small portions, so eat before hand, or after if need be! I even got to cook my own fish dish at the table with bunsen burner and timer. Tasted pretty good chef. Service was ok, but seemed a bit unsure of themselves at times, could have been new staff perhaps? Well worth trying out if you are in the area or a local. Hefty price tag but worth the occasional splurge. Enjoy!

I suggest you order a Japanese set meal like Tensin platter for two which gives you a good variety of items off the menu including sushi, sashimi, chicken teri, and gyoza, tempura and daily special. The dinner box meal has additions of tonkatsu and choice of beef, chicken or fish teriyaki. Many of the customers are locals and will tell you that, hands down, this is THE best Japanese in town. Not just me but every member in our large party agreed.

The seafood here is always top notch, you are unlikely to go away disappointed in the Sashimi or prawns! Most definitely a recommended restaurant!

We recently ordered takeouts and were more than impressed. In fact, we were rather angry that we hadn't been sooner - after all, it's only 5mins down the road. Shame on us! It's hard to choose, but our favourite dish was the Kapitan chicken. It was beautifully cooked in a well-balanced, aromatic sauce and served with light fluffy rice. Our only complaint was that there was enough to sauce to mop up with the buttery roti! Special mention must also be made of the Mee Goreng, which was packed full of flavour and had just the right amount of heat. I added a liberal squeeze of lemon to mine and it was seriously good. For $13, the portion was extremely generous - we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. I am rather looking forward to my next visit. Hopefully we will be dining in because the interior of this place is delightful - full of brightly coloured decorations with plenty of sparkles!

It really feels like you're in Malaysia though I've never been, but at least transported to somewhere different. It's warm and the dim lighting creates an intimate, cosy atmosphere. Great service as well. The Kung-po squid came in a long fish dish with vegetables, dried chilli and sauteed squid. Great for seafood lovers. We got the Langkawi fish special which was nice and fresh with lemon, lemon grass and coriander. Beware of the Hot Babi Pedas, as I thought I had a high tolerance for spicy but this was still Hot with a capital H. Pork slices with vegetables and cooked with cumin, fresh chilli and other spices that make you feel like you're going to breathe fire. Nasi lemak is purple fragrant coconut rice which I adore but if you're more inclined to classic, they have plain steamed rice as well. Great order on the side of the curry as well as their flaky Chanai flatbread. Food is yum, decor is absolutely wonderful. Must see

They mark everything 1/2 off at 4pm. There is less selection then, but we still found plenty we enjoyed. The first day we had the spicy scallop, crab, mushroom, and avocado rolls. We said we wouldn't do the scallop one again, it wasn't awful, but the others were so much better. We both agreed the mushroom one was our favorite- and we were both surprised by this. The crab and avocado ones were really good too. Our 1 complaint was that we really wanted soy sauce, so we asked for more. We were given 1 tiny fish shaped one for 4 pieces of sushi. We got an eye roll and we're charged for more sauce. They do take credit cards, they have a sign posted at the register that they charge an extra 2.5% to use a credit card My friend paid cash the first day, she wanted to use up some of her bulky coins, but the man working the register got annoyed and said no, and grabbed the bills from her hand and said no change. Then handed her back more coins. We really enjoyed the food- but there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to customer service. The 3rd day I added a tuna roll to my order to try, avocado, and crab rolls. Very happy with my order this day. Just wish they had still had the mushroom one when we went in. The restaurant appeared clean. Also seems popular with the locals as well as tourists. The food is 4 but customer service is 2.5 is the reason for the 3 review

They specialize in donburi boxes which you can order in different sizes, the largest size is massive which is good if you are hungry but I'm always content with the small which is about $11 so very reasonable. They also offer heaps of different types of donburi from karaage (deep fried) to teriyaki, you can have it with rice or you can have it with noodles the varieties are endless. Their sushi is ok, my favourite is the avocado, I don't particularly like their meat ones but that's probably my own o.c.d issues. It's also very fast for a japanese take-away, with most orders taking around 10 mins. Plus in all the times I have been here, they have never got my order wrong.
