It was odd and distracting but not enough not to notice that the rolls are mediocre. There was no subtlety of flavors; I could have cranked this out while looking at rough ratios of ingredients. We also ordered a soup. Inexplicably, it had tempura which dissolved into a puddle of goo in ten minutes flat. The soup flavor was nice, but the consistency and visual was much less appetizing. There was grotesquely overpriced plum wine and sake (yes, one variety of each- but plenty of Polish beers). After leaving the restaurant, everyone felt like they had a lead weight in their stomach and I vomited. I suspect a fish in the roll was in the edge of turning. I am giving the restaurant one star for nice service and attractive decor. The food may or may not be fresh and has none of the subtlety of actual Japanese food. This restaurant is an Eastern European interpretation of what Japanese food should be like; proper Japanese chefs in NYC or another large city would not try to pass this off.
