The Fishmarkt restaurant is located in the centre of Gdansk. I have visited this place few times now and is great place to have dinner. Service is accurate and pleasant. Bouillabaisse starter is great ! or salmon with salty apple pie, amazing ! As indicated it is a fish restaurant but they also have limited number of meat dishes. Havent tried one of those. The restaurant is quite popular and this week i noticed number of people were not able to get a table there. So reservation recommended. read more

I have been here a couple of times and have always been happy with the food, especially the fish dishes. Actually Gdansk has really lots of fresh fish and this restaurant is a good choice for that. Not only is the food excellent, the interior is also nice and warm. There's further a terrace with glass windows where you can sit if you wish. Finally the service has always been great here! One of the more elegant restaurants we dined at, with 2 pages of fish/seafood on the menu, which was indeed more elaborate than other places' fish selection (though duh, this is a fish place). We tried the 2-person fish platter, which came with 2 pieces of 4 different kinds of fish...and two of 'em had their heads still, if that's of any interest to know. Also comes with a small salad and mustard mashed potatoes. The platter was tasty, and was indeed enough for two people, though if you are truly hungry you may consider getting a soup or salad in addition to start. Speaking of soup, we tried the garlic soup, which our waiter confirmed is gluten-free naturally. Very nice ambiance all around, and our waiter spoke excellent English. read more

Went Tuesday night and had a delicious bouillabaisse. Went back Wednesday so my wife could get bouillabaisse and me too and it was horrible. Broth was like water. No flavor. Extremely disappointed. I had the best meal here during my visit to Gdansk. Gdansk is a shore front city, so you would expect plentiful of great seafood. Well that's unfortunately not the case. If you do crave delicious seafood dinner I would recommend this place in particular. Bouillabaisse is absolutely a must - it was simply fantastic. Menu has great selection of local and imported fish, as well as catch of the day. Dishes are presented with originality and surprisingly generous in portion size. Setting is super cozy with a hint of nautical elements; service is just great. Overall this place is not to be missed, and I do suggest making reservations in advance. :) read more

We had a really nice meal here -- fish was fresh & delicious, nicely seasoned. It was a little on the expensive side but the portion size was very generous. I am taking off one star because we ordered a carafe of the house white wine and were stunned and amazed how expensive it was. Wine in Poland isn't cheap -- but the price of the stuff in the carafe shouldn't be higher than bottle price. That may have been our ordering mistake. next time I'll stick with a beer -- but I WILL go again if I find myself in Gdansk again. read more

Rainbow trout dish was excellent, even though it's sweat water fish. Celeriac (purée) is a beer root related to celery, similar in taste and consistency to Sunchoke (Jerusalem Artishock). Busy seafood restaurant with a cosy interior. Wide choice of seafood with some meat dishes as well. Service was very pleasant and even if the place is full (as it usually is), wait for the food was not too long. Quality of the food was very good, dishes were well presented. Selection of wines, although a bit price, suited the menu well. One of the priciest restaurants in the city so my expectations were high. I was not disappointed but I feel there is better value available in the city. Still a good choice for a fancier dinner. Atmosphere and service are top notch. One minor complaint, I was presented a wrong bill in the end with almost double price to what we ordered. Very likely that this was unintentional and an honest mistake. Went to this restaurant because of the reviews and nearness to our hotel, but the fare did not live up to expectations. The first night we tried to eat there, we were turned away quite rudely because we didn't have a reservation, even though the small restaurant was barely half full. We went right next door and had a fantastic experience. The next day we were able to get in, yet it took almost 20minutes just to get the menus. Service was slow for the entire meal, yet the wait staff appeared rushed and harried. Once the food arrived, we were both disappointed with the taste and preparation of our meals. If this were the only eatery around, we would go back. However, We will not be returning to this restaurant, since there are many lovely options nearby. read more

A nice restaurant with a view of the water, but not super crowded. Prices seemed about right, low even compared to American standards. I got a salad with smoked salmon which was outstanding, though the cheese (seems homemade) was a bit odd in texture. For the main course I got the "local recommendation" which was a few pieces of Zander (local fish similar to walleye) in a pan with potatoes, cabbage, and bacon. All was really good, though the cabbage was too sweet for my taste. It probably was made in the traditional Polish style, it was just a bit much for me. Service was nice, atmosphere nice. Excellent food and service. Specialties are seafood but there are plenty of other delightful sounding non-seafood offerings (we stayed with the seafood). Comfortable beach house style setting that is cosy even in winter. Outstanding without being overly formal. read more
