It pains me to have to even give this woman even one star. Unfortunately I was recommended to Dr. Babbel due to her claim of being a trauma specialist. I hope to save someone the trouble of dealing with this emotionally unavailable imposter.
After many months of $250.00, which due to issues with her using FaceTime for a platform turned into 30-40 minutes, she DUMPED me over EMAIL without bothering to properly inform me. Rather than address any of the issues I had gone to her about, she told me she knew how to help me and proceeded to refer my case to someone else. It really came out of the blue and hit me hard at a time when I was most vulnerable.
I came to her with problems due to abandonment issues and feelings of betrayal. One of the issues I was attempting to heal was due to people not communicating their issues with me, going behind my back, and blaming it on something irrelevant. Sadly, this therapist only served to repeat my trauma in a bizarre and cruel manner.
Along with the many emotional issues of abandonment in my life, I manage a painful chronic condition. During our sessions she would tell me that I was repeating myself and ask me what types of medication I was taking. I reiterated to her that I had a fabulous pain doctor and that was NOT the issue I was going to her about. In addition to being experienced in managing my condition, I am a model patient and have even been asked by my pain doctor to assist other patients with pain medication protocols. I did repeat myself to her as I conveyed my violent childhood while she failed to comment. Perhaps she wasn't listening??
I was constantly interrupted by her while speaking. Due to her lack of engagement with me, I feel she wasn't comfortable with my show of emotion. I cannot understand why a trauma specialist would attempt to avoid the emotions of a patient. I was very clear about wanting to understand the cause of my emotional pain and growing past it, but upon reflection, I highly doubt this was her goal for me.
One of our sessions was regarding my marriage. During the conversation with her and my husband, I broke down in tears. She seemed visibly uncomfortable with my display of emotion, something counselors deal with often. She later conveyed to me (via her dismissal email) that my husband is on a spectrum of Autism, and suggested watching Rain Man. (My husband is a highly skilled medical doctor).
When she felt that she had had enough of me, she referred my case to someone I'd never met. She suggested getting a pain specialist - I couldn't believe it. She conveyed in her email that I needed to find out how pain affects my moods. Why would she call someone I've never met and not the two doctors I've seen for years when I made it clearI a collaborative was welcomed.
I talked to her one last time as I had not yet read the email, so called at our usual appointment time and before she hung up on me she literally told me that she had not done any intake forms, didn't have my address and wouldn't know who to call if I were suicidal. I did have suicidal ideations and she blew me off without ever asking if I was suicidal.
Imagine my painful surprise at seeing her email after that. The whole experience was so crushing to me, especially with everything else during the pandemic. She completely destroyed my trust in therapists while getting thousands of dollars richer. My experience with her opened up many new issues for me. She a fake and not a convincing one at that. Please don't let being vulnerable direct your emotions to make the same mistake I did. read more
