The difference was that she got to really know me and asked me why I moved out here, and what was I looking for in a job. I left on the same note as the rest of them. She will call me when something came up. Within hours Alea was calling me, to let me know Bobby Simon (her co-worker) had a great opportunity. I had a phone screening with a very well know, and very much coveted tech startup company in SF. I started working within days of landing in CA. Alea and Bobby both followed up after my first week, to see how I was liking it, and if I was happy. They continued to stay involved and focused on a monthly basis. I unfortunately left the startup for a perm position I found myself, and that was a mistake. I stuck it out for 5 months, and I was back on the phone with Alea. The team over at BVOH was able to find me a long term gig at another great company in two days. Again Alea and this time Morgan (another co-worker) followed up with me and made sure I was happy, they still follow up with me. I was sued by the co-owners of my six-figure real estate investment so they could take advantage of…read moreme in a partition case. Litigation is ugly. I can't say enough about Sid Luscutoff's careful and patient explanation to me about the uncertainties of the court process. He was matter of fact that the time needed to defend me (and the legal fees) depended on a wide variety of maneuvers that the plaintiffs could potentially try. That would trigger the need for my attorneys to work in response. And there was no way to predict in advance whether the other side would use a few, or just some or a whole bunch of these tactics. Eventually things worked out great for me. Mr. Luscutoff got the other side to agree for a retired judge to mediate our dispute (50/50 shared cost for the mediators fees) and that judge got the plaintiffs past their emotions so we could all agree to a sensible business solution that ended the lawsuit. My own calculation is that my net result is I ended up tens of thousands of dollars "ahead" of going with a really experienced lawyer who was very very practical and didn't want to turn my case into something that the Supreme Court needed to decide.
