The cafe is super cute; one side is more of a restaurant scene with tables, menu, and waitresses and waiters on hand. The other side is more of grabbing something quick to eat and/or drink. I've tried the raspberry muffin. It was so fresh and good words cannot even describe it. I'm more of a blueberry muffin person but being that was not an option at the time I chose raspberry and I did not regret it. My fiancé and I also tried the Irish breakfast (I posted a pic and noted what it consisted of). So awesome! A hearty breakfast was a great way to start a day of exploring in Dublin. The next day, I tried the croissant and scone. They pretty much melted in my mouth. As you walk in the cafe, you could smell how fresh everything was. Anyway, we had planned to drive to the Cliffs of Moher that day and decided to get a couple of sandwiches and saw they had a variety of choices to choose from. I ended up creating my own sandwich; it was super delicious! Even when we ate it hours later, it was still good. We tried the Irish cheese and onion chips and it blew my mind. It's similar to the sour cream and onion here in the states but a hundred times better. I found myself looking for more onion and cheese chips during my stay in Ireland. The cafe started open later than other cafes I'm used to but we never made it back in time. With good prices and great food we probably would have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. I would definitely visit this place again if I ever get the opportunity to return to Dublin. It made our visit a truly remarkable one.

I also ordered couple more items the week after and found the staff extremely helpful in finding products I needed and sent out a new batch of milk for me as previous one was near use by date haven't had such good experience before and so thankful for their assistance. However, the hop sack,which has been on the go for years is still one of its best and busiest shops. Back in the 80's. When it was nay impossible to get soy milk anywhere in Dublin the HS was there. So great for those of us with milk allergies. Despite being a modest sized shop the Hop Sack has all you health food needs, from gluten free foods to essential oils. Staff are attentive, helpful and highly knowledgeable. They ordered in stuff for me when I asked. Also check it out around easter, as they assued me they were one of the cheapest places to get Green & Blacks easter eggs this year.

In the same vein as my other beloved Dublin food hall, Fallon & Byrne, Listons has a wide selection of charcuterie, cheese, nuts, pastas, tea, chocolates and wine. I chose a tomato basil soup and a tuna, cheddar and sundried tomato panini for lunch and ate it picnic style back in my hotel room. The sandwich was absolutely glorious. The soup, while not incredible, was proficient. The staff at Listons also deserves a mention - they're super sweet!

I was at the blues stage were seeing an old woman being over taken by power walking younger folks whilst they listened to their i-pods lost in themselves and their outward image made me really sad. It actually brought a frog to my throat & made me slightly teary - yes it did. I started thinking about how impersonal people these days can be; yup I was in a rut. Because I have no friends I could not dial for a hug, and because hugging yourself is a rather futile action I decided to lift my melancholy with some tea. I got some mint infused tea, to give me more of a spring in my step. And to really treat myself I got the orange and coconut combination which is as delicious as it sounds. The layout of Listons makes me happy, it's warm and the staff are helpful & when you are feeling under the weather you can never ever underestimate the power of a stranger's smile.

Someone told me about Detox Retox and that they are a bakery that does bread, crackers and cakes that are free from gluten, grains, wheat, dairy, sugar, yeast, soya and peanut. So I gave Caomhie a call and she was so friendly and helpful. They don't have an on site factory shop but you can order on-line and they deliver anywhere in the country. They also supply Nourish on Exchequer street and I think Morton's too, I'm sure they supply more. I'm so happy that a place like this exists as I know so many folks with food intolerances. What a great little shop! unique too, in my eyes!…read more its such a small shop but it gives so much pleasure to my tummy and taste buds anyway, not so much my waistline! the deserts in here really are divine, the coffee cake is my favourite, you just buy a big cake of it and start eating when you get hoe and you have to share it with everyone around you otherwise you will end up eating the whole thing yourself! I love how its called the butlers pantry too, you always see films where butlers help out the master of the house in cheating and lying and covering up. that's what this shop does too, it cheats in your cooking, it makes you lie and say you made it yourself and it covers up your inability to cook anything quite as tasty as you would get in this shop!

This is a small little shop on the corner of Dawson Street and the Hibernian Way. A shop unit that seems to change hands with the seasons but I am feeling hopeful for the newest occupants ! They have a really unusual range of breakfasts including gluten free porridge and chai seed pudding - both are excellent and most importantly with breakfast very filling. With a price tag of €2.50 I think they are good value. As a celiac breakfast used to be my least favourite meal but not any more !!! They also have gluten and dairy free vegan muffins that are fantastic !! They also have a nice range of gluten free lunches including potatoes / rice / noodles with a salad but I have not tried these yet

I picked up a small organic Japanese salad of edamame noodles, red pepper, courgette and arame, sesame seeds and a ginger soy dressing, and a big organic fruit salad for just under €8 euro - not as cheap as a sambo, but for all organic, it could be worse. It was grand, very fresh but surprisingly bland - I expected some kick from the ginger dressing which never came through. The fruit salad was tasty and fresh. I also sampled a few juices while there as they are newly opened and still doing promotion. Pretty nice all in all. I'm curious to try some of the other breakfast (they open early - good for us office folks) and lunch offerings, and their many kinds of hummus; if they bump up the flavor a bit on the dressing and perhaps consider cutting down on all the plastic containers, they may have a regular customer here.
