Dr Wilson RUINED my life!!! I wish I had known about Yelp twelve years ago when I had a hysterectomy with her as lead surgeon. She did the surgery on a Friday...released me from the recovery room when I was still in incredible pain, because the head nurse at St. Francis Hospital said they needed the bed, but really so she could get out of there for the weekend. They told me I would receive pain medication as soon as I was in my room. Dr Wilson visited my room for about three minutes, said she would take care of it...and TWO hours later, my daughter had to practically throw a fit to get them to give me pain medication...a shot of demerol...why was I not offered a choice of a PCA??? Why would you order injections for someone who had just had this surgery...to add more pain to a painful situation? I didn't know about a PCA until six months later when I had to have another surgery to remove the adhesion's caused by Dr Wilson's surgery. She didn't even come to release me from the hospital...her partner did. He incorrectly assumed that she had told me all I needed to know about after care and gave me a quick run through of basically nothing...and I was sent home.
I told her I was a neophyte in the surgery arena, so to please tell me everything I should know about...but that meeting took about four minutes. I had never had anything wrong with my reproductive system before and had two healthy children born in another city. She said it was an EASY surgery and I should be fully recovered in six weeks. What I didn't know was that there were options for everything while in the hospital...which she never offered me...precautions during after care...which she never told me about...and a level of attention that she never provided. I didn't feel good about her from the beginning, but I didn't listen to my gut. That appears to be a pun.
Four days after being released from the hospital everything ripped out...I could barely walk without insane pain...I called her office and couldn't get in for four days. When I finally saw her, she was defensive, cold, RUDE, said nothing was wrong, and told me to "see someone". She did give me a referral to a wonderful pelvic pain doctor though, Dr. Jerome Weiss, who helped me through some incredible pain, which I still have TWELVE years later and deal with every day. I never went back to her, but by then it was too late, the damage was done.
I have had three major surgeries and many smaller ones to fix what might have been corrected if there had been intervention promptly after I called the office. Her bedside manner is non-existant and was always cold and disinterested, her office is filthy and her staff is a mess.I never received any paperwork with explanations of anything prior to surgery and later they couldn't find my file to transfer to another doctor. Wonder Why???
Using Susan Wilson for my surgeon was the WORST decision of my life. There are many fine surgeon's in San Francisco...she is NOT one of them. read more
