I joined though Amtrak Guest rewards. Big mistake. They advertise as Survey Points Club. Misleading and deceptive, the welcome bonus of 500 points for "filling out your first survey" never happened. Never got cleared for a first survey. They ask lots of preliminary questions. These look like a survey but they don't count. So you answer questionnaires, lots of personal data is requested and then you get told "sorry - try again. Here's 5 points for a nice try but we already have enough respondents." How could they not know up front that they have enough respondents? Stay away. Creepy. Feels like a scam. read more

Despite reading several cautionary tales posted about SSI and the survey companies they own (Quickthoughts, Opinion Outpost, Opinion World, and others), I decided to try their Quickthoughts app. Initially I had a good experience, but then I started having troubles. These were the same troubles I was warned about. The company would be unable to pay out promised rewards. They constantly had 'technical' issues. Finally, I agreed to take part in a two hour discussion panel for an agreed payout fo 100 dollars. Nearly immediately after completing this I had trouble with my account again. At first it was a technical issue. Then I was informed that my account had been suspended indefinitely because I provided inaccurate answers. This is entirely false. I always answer very carefully and very honestly. I contacted the person who held the panel. They have verified that they submitted payment for my participation. Quickthoughts/Opinion Outpost/ Opinion World refuses to pay. My advice, if you participate in surveys through apps or GPT sites, avoid this one entirely. read more

I participated in a Hotel Rewards / Loyalty opinion program run by SSI. The "surveys" involved a lot of bait and switch tactics. For example, a solicitation's summary information typically offered approximately 80 Loyalty program points for a 10 minute survey. Clicking to begin such a survey brought on highly intrusive "screening" questions to "determine which survey to offer" (although that had presumably been specified in the solicitation to take the survey). After the intrusive questions (which could be easily linked to known travel history and verified identity information intrinsic to the Loyalty program), the most common result was that the surveyors reported that "enough data had already been collected" or that the screening suggested that the responder was "not suited to the survey" and that another survey should be chosen, where 5, not 80, Loyalty points might be awarded if a "real survey" was not found. Some of these problems might have been brought on by the Loyalty program, but professional considerations should keep SSI from becoming a key part of what appears to be a low stakes scam. read more

SSI is a telemarketing information gathering organization. Initially, they collect personal information from suckers - I'm sorry, members - who are told of enormous rewards but end up receiving next to nothing for their time answering questions for surveys that they are later told they do not qualify for. Actually, SSI collects personal information that is combined with financial data, like credit card and bank accounts, and sold to telemarketing companies and other crooked operators. They particularly like older, retired people because they seem more gullible. read more

This company is a joke I asked to be put on the Do Not Call List and they said that they don't do that because they are not trying to sell me something. Well the truth is it doesn't matter if you're trying to sell me something you are a telemarketer whether you do surveys or not and you fall under the law. Appears to be an unreputable business of some kind. They called two days ago at a late hour (9 p.m.) and didn't leave a message. I blocked that phone number but the next night they called again from a different number. I used several of SSI's surveying services over the last few months, but my worst experience has been with iPoll. After successfully cashing out $200 this year in $25 increments with no problems, I randomly had my account terminated as I tried to cash out nearly $50 to PayPal, apparently due to a violation of their terms. However, I did not violate terms, and this is a regular scam tactic by this company. They string you along on pennies by the hour for weeks, months, or even years, and then randomly terminate accounts when you try to cash in your earnings. Beware that the iPoll customer service line is simply a voicemail box, not manned by an actual human - ever. If you call SSI's Headquarters directly, before you can even explain the nature of your call, their rude secretary is already talking over you. (Which must be great for potential clients!!). She never states her name (and can barely say the company's name), and once she finds out you want real assistance with your account, she will yell at you and transfer you to the same useless voicemail box (that also suspiciously has no company name stated). And while their email support is great if you report issues with a survey or some other minor technical problem, in the instance of stolen funds, you will be lucky to even receive an automated email. No live human touches any emails you send to them. Beware iPoll, as well as Quick Thoughts, Opinion Outpost, and any other names they use to treat their participants like garbage. read more
