You will still see the original restaurant as well as the brewery. The tour of the brewery was self-guided. The equipment is in a separate room with informational signs and translations by QR code. It's all very informative. The ladies in the tasting room are so friendly and helpful in describing the beers. We were able to sample 2 different types of beer. We shared a flight of 5 beers between the 3 of us. The most popular choice among us was the Fruity Cave. I really love the cherry in this sour craft beer. Another stand out to me was the seasonal Grena Gurk. It had an herbal taste with hints of pomegranate and cucumber. It's a unique flavor that you just don't see very often. It's a pretty hot pink color as well. My husband really liked the Quöllfrisch Hell which he said was very refreshing. We were also given some Brewbee Tschipps to try along with the beer. These are made using the byproduct (or recycled grain) of the brewing process. It's a satisfying malted chip treat. I wish we had purchased more bags and flavors. They're actually quite addicting. There's an awesome looking shop full of all kinds of products made by this company. It's not just about the beer and tschipps. They also produce Säntis Malt Whisky, salad dressings, and so much more. I should have bought more as I'm finding it difficult to find any of it in the states. It was a lovely autumn day in the beautiful town of Appenzell. I know this place is known more for the cheese, but I found the beer to be just as memorable.

We sat inside for dinner on our first visit, and came back again for lunch outside the next day. The atmosphere at the Rathaus is warm and typically Swiss, and its views of the Luzern waterfront and Kapellbrücke can't be beat. The food is excellent, from lighter fare like sandwiches on pretzels to more traditional dishes like white sausage with mustard. My brother-in-law ordered two different beers, and said they were the best he's ever had in his life. The most lasting memory for us, however, was our absolutely amazing server on our second visit. She was warm, friendly, funny, and spoke excellent English, giving us tips and recommendations for our Luzern stay. We even shared hugs on our final visit. Don't miss the Rathaus Brauerei--it remains a highlight of our wonderful stay in Switzerland!

Yea being across from the bridge a tourist trap with half of the customers sounding like tourist and the other sounding like local enjoying the good views and ambience. The poor waiter was so overworked and made for slow service and even slower food arrival is why - a star.

Great brewery just a few minutes outside of Zürich center…read more The tap room is open on Thursday and Friday from 5pm to 8pm. You can also get a nice brewery tour. Very friendly brewer and nice atmosphere. For CHF 15 you can get 6 tasters of 125 ml and keep the glass which is quite a great deal. Beers are all very well crafted and well balanced (for example a perfect cream ale), they are mainly american inspired and they don't save on hops.
