    Coffee on the patio

Gets a 4 star because all needs were met, access to pool and place to eat close by. Needs a lot of TLC to get any more stars. Hot great pressure shower. Bed and pillows very comfortable.

    Room heater with dirt evident

DO NOT STAY HERE. We booked a king ocean view room for our anniversary and that was a huge mistake. There was no phone and no clock. The door was sticking and had to be shoved open. The room stunk and I could not sleep. There was a dripping faucet in the bathroom and the toilet seat was painted and appeared to be wet. The one chair in the room was peeling and appeared very well used. The room heater was dirty and the DVD remote was taped together. The food in the restaurant was not the best and I don't plan to return. We left after one night as we could not stand to stay again. Watch out! The phone # on the web page takes you to Expedia and not the hotel front desk. The hotel will not issue refunds when booked through Expedia. The web page photos are very misleading and do not represent what we experienced.

For the view this place is totally worth it. It's a very dated hotel trying to be a little fancy. The bed was comfortable. The WiFi was very slow. The Kureg and coffee cups were nice to have. We didn't use the pool or hot tub. The location is great because we just walked to the casino for fun and dinner. The staff checking people in, mid afternoon, seemed annoyed and talked about guests after they left. The night staff were nice. The shuttle was also nice!! I got a deal on booking.com. I wouldn't stay at their regular pricing.

Where do I begin. We stayed here for one night in August. I picked this "hotel" based on the photos they posted, thinking it was a cute "boutique" hotel that had been updated recently. We go to check in, and the first thing out of the hotel cashier's mouth was "our cable isn't working." Great. At least it was only for one night. The room we were given was supposedly a courtyard view. The view was a parking lot, with a courtyard maybe 200 feet away near the entrance. I didn't expect an ocean view, since I had only reserved the room a month in advance, but seriously. We get into the room. It's warm and muggy. Look for the air conditioning. There is none. Go to sit on the futon in the room, get a hard piece of metal straight to the tailbone. The room is painted mostly in a forest green, making it dark and depressing. The only window in the place is coated with dead bugs and cobwebs. Gross. If you open it, you then hear the sounds on the walkway which it faces. The bathroom was the only space that felt slightly comfortable or refreshed. We were thirsty so went looking for a vending machine. Couldn't find one that takes cards, so had to go the lobby. My husband bought two off-brand small bottles of water. Didn't ask how much before purchasing (our bad) but ended up being $10. And it wasn't even refrigerated. While my husband was in the lobby, another guest had come in to complain about the amenities. She was having a similar experience to us. The cashier did little to appease here, other than offering a 10% discount on her stay because of the cable outage. She asked for it in writing, they refused, she pushed back, and they finally wrote it on a piece of paper, and assured her that it would be on her check-out receipt. When my husband heard this, he asked why we hadn't been given the same discount. They said they only offer that when you complain. So, guess what, my husband complained. They said they would give the credit on our check out receipt. Guess what? When you check out, there is no receipt. He asked about it, and they said, "Oh, it will be reflected on your credit card statement." Guess what? It has been several weeks now, and no credit. This place needs to be shut down temporarily, with a massive deep cleaning by a professional cleaning service, inside and out. It needs fumigating, power-washing, and probably needs a saging to remove the bad juju. They need to update ALL the rooms with fresh paint and furniture if they want to classify themselves as "boutique". They need to update their door entries to electronic and not an old metal key. They need to fix their cable, which has been out for weeks from what I can see. I'm glad that my husband and I have a sense of humor and were only staying here briefly on our road trip, or we would have been so disappointed.

Location, Location, Location! This is definitely a beach property on a budget. With that said, if you're looking to just chill at the beach, Surftides hotel has everything a person could want. It is right on the beach with an easy beach access. (I am permanently disabled with chronic back pain and made it just fine.). The rooms are clean and although they aren't exactly The Ritz, you have everything you need. We tried their restaurant, Mist, which is conveniently located on the property and we had a lovely dinner outside on our balcony. In the a.m., we ordered avocado toast which was excellent. This is a dog friendly hotel but the thing is that you wouldn't know it as they keep the grounds extremely clean! The only mix up was that my husband checked us in, something I normally do as a Travel Agent, and he neglected to read the fine print which said there would be a fine of $250 if you do not tell them (front desk staff) upfront that you have your furry friend with you. It could've turned into an expensive lesson if it weren't for Tony, the front desk manager. He really went out on a limb and was able to get the charge reversed. I have always enjoyed going to LC's Surftides. I used to own a little travel agency named, Lincoln Travel and was fortunate enough to see many properties to compare to. I've spent anywhere from $1000 to $fleabag and I will come back to Surf Tides every time I'm in town! Thanks, Tony and Shone!

Checked in easily enough and was pretty excited because the lobby was super cute, but things went downhill from there. Spent almost $200 for the night (king room with fireplace) and the only redeeming quality of the hotel was its proximity to the beach. The rooms are small. The bathroom was so tiny in fact, that you couldnt sit on the toilet with the door open. The door pretty much scraped the toilet when opening/closing the door. And to top it off, I tried taking a quick shower in the morning and didn't even hit 10 minutes before the water went cold. The room itself reminded me of an old apartment complex where the landlord just paints a shitty coat of white on everything to hide dirt. The absolute worst part of this hotel was the internet access. We had a room on the first floor and it was a TOTAL dead zone for both me and my partner. We tried connecting to their WiFi multiple times and couldn't get more than one bar before it booted us off. I missed an important call from a family member and couldn't even make dinner reservations without going out to the parking lot and sitting in my car. The hotel is worth $80-$90 a night max and that's only because of the balcony and water access.

    The chair in the room

The chair in the room was so wore down so i asked for a sheet and the staff came to the room to see what i was talking about!!! Likevthey dont know the WIFI wont work WHATSOVER!!! As well as the TV we werent able to watch a movie as it kept blurring off. I was here before on the lower level so i though the issues were related to that BUT they were not since this time we were on the 3rd floor

One of the best Ocean Front Hotels we've stayed at to date! The lobby is super cute, well decorated, has its own Gift Shop - and has super attentive service from its staff. We were able to check in early, and our room was beyond expectation. A lot of Ocean Front Hotels on the Oregon Coast seem to be run down - but this spot was very well decorated, modern, clean - with a super cute aesthetic. I loved the old style door keys. Easy access to the beach, great views from your room. This is our new spot in Lincoln City!

You are only a short walk from restaurants and the beach. It is not a fancy place, but the open balcony to sit outside and listen to the waves while smelling the fresh air is worth it. I really appreciated the kind gesture of putting a birthday card and local chocolates on the bed (it made me feel truly special, thank you!). The French Press and coffee grounds were such a nice touch! Bed and pillows were comfy. Sitting outside on the balcony to watch the waves was enjoyable. Down below our balcony are cozy fire pits with chairs. The chairs were occupied most of the time, so we didn't sit by the fire... but we had our dogs with us too. TV was good, just wish it was bigger. Room was clean. Breakfast was subpar. The area to serve yourself and eat felt crowded as well. The shower in our room had good water pressure but the shower drain was clogged which causes it to pool up anytime we used it. Sink was fine. Screen door had a hole near the handle. Rooms felt closer than I would like. Hallway to get to room felt narrow. I believe we had two different neighbors across the hall during our stay. The second set of guests (both adults and children) were not very considerate with noise, especially during the evening and early morning hours. Of course, this isn't something the Coho can always control, but it did impact the peaceful atmosphere at times. Overall though, the Coho itself was wonderful, and with a little more mindfulness from fellow guests, the experience could be perfect. This is a great option for coastal views. Prices are okay. I would come back here again.

The main issue is that there was an extremely loud, unceasing mechanical noise come from the ducts right outside our room (#72). When I asked reception about changing rooms, I was told that the hotel was completely booked and there was nothing they could do. This didn't leave us with any option but to stay the night. We got very little sleep, not just because of the unrelenting noise ALL NIGHT LONG, but because the mattress was oddly hard and lumpy. My partner who does not have back issues woke up in excruciating pain. Now, one of the nicest parts about this hotel is the oceanfront location. However, even that was ruined for us. Our room led directly out to a grassy area overlooking the sea. We walked out there at dusk to watch the sunset, only since the light was dim, we stepped into a pile of dog shi*t several feet away from the door. That really sums it up - what was supposed to be a brief romantic getaway to the coast turned into a hot, steaming turd. This was hands down the most hellacious hotel stay of my life. If you choose to stay here, good luck - I sincerely hope you have a better experience.

The room has a mini-fridge and a microwave. They have a great little sink for filling big water bottles, making tea, etc. no trying to fill the coffee pot in the bathroom sink. The room was also impeccably clean. Rooms that aren't fully cleaned can really put me off about a place. Not here. They seem to have high standards for everything they do here-- and everyone they hire. A gentleman who was from housekeeping even walked me to the elevator when I got turned around as I went to check out. He noticed my hands were full and hit the button for the lobby for me. As I was writing this review, I got a phone call. I had forgotten my favorite lunch box in the fridge! I hadn't gotten terribly far, so I still have time to go back. If you're on the fence, book it. One more neat thing: I got a way better rate booking directly with Starfish Manor. It shocked me, but it bears mentioning. I almost always use Expedia, but while I was looking for more room info on booking, I was delighted to find this. I will 100% be back. I recommend this highly. The adjustments they have had to make over the years were justified and acceptable due to changes in ownership, maintenance upkeep and of course the aftermath COVID restrictions. Positives: The front desk staff is very accommodating, the cleaning crew is helpful and the breakfast ladies worked really hard to keep things clean and stocked. I don't normally use the pool area, but my teenage niece does. She and her friend spent several hours at the pool, so it must have been acceptable for them. The lobby has a very cozy seating area with a fireplace. I also love that they have a little market stocked with food, sweets, beverages and trinkets. They also have an ample selection of DVD's (Tip: read the directions on the inside of the DVD cover for instructions on how to switch TV input) Location is great and right on hwy 101, which is convenient for shopping and all other activities except its proximity to the beach. You would have to drive to an access point for beach time. Downside: Two things have prompted me to make this post. The quality of the complementary breakfast. It has greatly diminished over the years and I don't think it would cost much more to add back a couple options that they used to have It does have biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage links, which is the usual "meh" buffet style choices, but it's the same selection every morning. There are muffins, which were available one morning, but not the next. There's coffee, juice, fruit cups, oatmeal packets, cold cereal and milk. It's really more of a continental breakfast now than a full blown hot breakfast. They have toasters, but nothing to put in the toaster. No more bagels & cream cheese, yogurt or hard boiled eggs. They used to have a waffle maker, but that went away several years ago. The other issue was the noise coming from outside of our room. Our room was on the second floor. Double queen, comfortable and clean, with the usual wear and tear that comes with staying at a well used hotel. The problem is that the noise from the third floor was alarming. I don't blame children for being super excited to having free access to a swimming pool, but the hotel needs to put families with small children on the ground floor or in rooms closer to the elevator. It sounded like the kids would fall right through the ceiling as they pounded up and down the third floor hallway with joy. We will most likely stay here again next year, but be more prepared. Like asking for a third floor room and bringing something to put in the toaster to go along with our breakfast. Easy and doable adjustments for us to make, I just thought it might be helpful to inform others if you are considering this hotel for your next visit.
