We needed a transfer from rural Pennsylvania to rural Virginia, and Patrick was happy to accommodate us. He communicated well and arrived precisely on time - wearing a suit! He loaded our luggage into the immaculate and very large SUV, while telling us about some potential traffic delays. The traffic turned out to not be quite so bad, and we arrived at our destination a little bit early. Patrick played excellent music, and kept us entertained with stories for most of the trip. And when we arrived, he carried our luggage to the door. And all that, for a very reasonable rate - not much more than if we'd rented a car and driven ourselves. My BIGGEST mistake was trusting that such a company that is in business to perform such a service actually knows the ins and outs of the business and would have me (the consumer) covered on these types of things. Again, I am a consumer. This is not my business. Long story short, at the last second, we had to cancel the service because the vendor and city would not allow it. Marcia should have either checked this on her end, or at the very LEAST, informed us to check. And she should have a document for consumers to sign and/or the venue to state we checked and it is allowed. Once I found out it wasn't allowed, I contacted Marcia and told her, as we had already put down the deposit of $475. Even though she stated the deposit was non-refundable, I thought she would be a FAIR Vendor and refund our money since we were canceling due to no fault of our own. But NO, Marcia was not compassionate at ALL and REFUSED to refund our money. Instead, she offered to allow us to apply the credit towards a future horse and carriage. Are you kidding me?!?!? For WHAT other occasion would anyone want a Horse and Carriage!??!?!?! Just ridiculous! So now, Instead of enjoying my honeymoon, I am writing this review because of how she had a major hand in all but ruining my day! Unfortunately now, I will have to seek my refund through the court systems. Businesses that try to take advantage of consumers never win! Carriages of the Capitol were incredibly responsive and the most cost competitive (one vendor wanted $1500 for 30 mins!). We talked by email and phone on the details, and they worked with our venue on their parking needs. They were very flexible on our timing (we departed at 11:30 pm), arrived early to set up the carriage and ready the horse. The carriage was fairy tale beautiful and the horse was a sweetheart. The staff was great to work with and dressed the part. After leaving the reception, we rode through Capitol Hill and to our hotel. Honestly, the carriage ride was the most peaceful part of the whole day. We were done with our big day; we were married. We relaxed for the first time in weeks, and let the horse do all the work.
