Very wallet-friendly lunch option…read more They offer various veg options here. I like how they have various chaats as well - nice way to add a little extra snack to your meal. Samosa was big and came with a sweet chutney; it's also decently spicy! My only gripe is the amount of "stuff" that they give you for the curries. The Shahi Paneer scoop had maybe 3 tiny dice-sized cubes of paneer in that entire meal. Same goes with the paneer tikka - most of it was onions/other veggies. Takeout packaging is great! No spillage.

Very good lineup system. After ordering Chana Bhatura for takeaway, and carrying it home to eat, I was glad that they provided a very decent takeout container. It was black plastic with a transparent cover, divided into 3 parts, and they even wrapped the Bhatura with paper napkins to blot the oil from deep frying. Bhatura was a bit too oily even with the napkin to absorb the oil. Normally this is not the case but perhaps to save time they did not drip dry the oil before packing the takeout container. Will try to order again another day to give them a chance to improve upon this small detail. Otherwise it is a very decent portion size and looks okay. Chana was just okay not very flavourful and it was watery consistency, not given enough cooking time to thicken or absorb spices. At least they provide Pickles, green chilies, sliced purple onions, the Aloo potatoes were spiced with red chilies and flavourful. Note that the sign outside advertises a Chana Bhatura Special on Wednesdays for $3.99!

Whilst the interior is small, there is plenty of seating for what is essentially a snack bar, and definitely somewhere I could see myself spending an evening with friends over a good bite. But I'm not here to talk about that, I'm here to talk about the food!!! The food is incredible. From the tangy Pani Puri/gol gappe, mouthwatering bhel Puri and "chatpata" chaat, there's really something for everyone! Super flavourful and authentic, with tastes that'll remind you of home. Their paan is definitely the best paan I've ever had here in Canada, and made with love and fast service each time! Whilst it does get quite busy especially later into the night, it's definitely worth waiting for these treats. And if you want a proper immersive experience, there's so many snacks like chili Mili sweets and parle G cookies as well as Masala Lays Chips that will really take you back! One to visit for sure!

Little neighborhood Filipino grocery store that also sells food for takeout…read more Walk in and the place is nice, bright and well organized. The woman that runs the front of the store gives you the eye and quietly sizes you up. It takes her a minute to warm up to you. You'll have a better experience if you speak Tagalog (National language of the Philippines). Hot foods aren't ready until 11 or 12 noon but there's popular Filipino snacks (Chippy, V Cut, Clover), pop, C2 green tea, and bakery items to snack on while you wait. There's 4 stools at the bar table for dine in and a TV set to CP 24 (no, not a Filipino station) I noticed a lot of people ordering bags of Chicharron (Fried pork skin). I figured I should try some since they were so popular. Holy cow! They were soooo good: Crispy, crunchy with a little salt and tiny savory bits of meat. A fatty indulgence that I thoroughly enjoyed dipping in spicy vinegar. While I was waiting for the hot food to come out I met the hubby who cooks. He's not Filipino, WHAT?! No wonder the TV was set to a Canadian station. He was very friendly and told me their story. They have been in business for 10 years and they've built up their business strictly through word of mouth. They want to stay a small business because they don't want to change the vibe of the place nor sacrifice quality. When the food was finally ready I ordered a Caldereta combo with rice and two empenadas to go. Tried the empenadas first. They were cold, the pastry was flaky and the filling meager. Heating it up in the microwave didn't help, it just tasted bland. The Caldereta however was delicious. The meat was tender, the veggies were not overcooked, and the bell peppers still had a little bit of a crunch to them. The Caldereta was on top of the rice, so the rice was covered in the savory sauce. A comforting and filling dish indeed. Glad to know there's a Filipino grocery close by where I can also get my chicharron and Filipino food fix. I will be back when the craving hits.

They advertise that they make all sweets in fresh desi ghee ( clarified butter ), which is a better option than oils. My daughter wanted to have gulab jamun, so I thought of trying this place. I went there and ordered Gulab jamun, besan barfi and channa bhatura. I asked the lady taking my order that are these gulab jamun and besan barfi made with desi ghee, she first hesitated and then replied it's not fully ghee, it's mix of oil and ghee. Well I was disappointed as I don't like fake advertisement. I still order and paid for it and left. Channa bhatura was good, however not extraordinary for it to be $8.49, this is almost double the price of other Indian restaurants and better or same taste. Plus they have so less channa ( chickpea curry ) with it, it was not enough. Sweets were also good, again not extraordinary to be charged $2-$5 more than other Indian restaurants and sweets shop. Very disappointed, specially because of misleading advertising and their prices are also higher. I don't mind paying more if they were making all sweets with ghee and not oil and if food was better than others. I will not be going back here again!
