Japchae
Quinn Li O.

We came here on New Years Eve and ordered a duck dish, japchae which is one of my all time favorite dishes, some rice and two types of pancakes. Needless to say this was definitely way too much food for 2 people. The portions were massive and the service was retry slow/ staggered, so as the later dishes came out we were already pretty full. I'd say the best thing we had was a he seafood pancake. The Japchae had way too many vegetables and not enough flavor and the duck had a strange artificial aftertaste. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, but this wasn't a place I'd hurry back to. Also, this was by far or most expensive meal in CDMX which felt strange, because it was nether fancy nor exceptionally good.

Came here around 6 and got my food really fast! Have been in Mexico city for four days and I have been craving Asian food! This place definitely satisfy my need for Asian food!

How it looks, nice and private.

Before ordering ask questions to the server, some raw meat is supposed to be eaten like that and they won't open the grill. Side dishes were excellent! I am a Korean BBQ lover and I was not really satisfied with my experience here, servers not so polite, Mexican music in the background, they don't refill side dishes like in the ones I've been to in NY and LA. If it's your first time having Korean food you might like it, food in general is good, I will come back to try their shabu Shabu.

Nice orderly dining room, not too loud, plenty of privacy.

Nice location, really good food. The side dishes were excellent, the barley tea was clean and refreshing, and the marinated galbi was just what I wanted. Also liked the kimchi jigae on a cold rainy night to warm up nicely. Very friendly and helpful waiters. Really had a great night here.

The food is so cheap. For 150 pesos, I had tons of food that I could barely finish

This is a very authentic Korean restaurant in the area with great food and good service. I was in Seoul couple months ago but I don't think I had better food there. I'm definitely coming back when I'm in the area next time.

Real charcoal grilled.

We ordered pork, served in a Korean sauce with steamed rice and lettuce leaves and a beef soup with vegetables, glass noodles in a hot pot.

We are pleasantly surprised with authentic Korean food in CDMX, totally unexpected :)…read more Food is good and reasonable priced, LA Galbi honestly is better than some of the ones I found in the states... not the best but has good flavor and lean meat (good when you are fighting a stomach bug in Mexico lol). The fried dumplings were crispy and delicious. Ramen was spicy and comforting. This one is added to my Mexico City collection.

I know that it can be hard to get foreign ingredients in Mexico even though it's gotten a lot better than when I lived there. The banchan were mostly good and abundant. One kimchi was a little too fermented and all were bland, but overall ok. The dolsot bibimbap had few ingredients, just the rice, some spinach, egg and came with some kind of beef paste that didn't taste like gochujang. My husband found it edible, but bland. There is a mistake on the download menu, which I assumed would be more accurate than the physical menu. I ordered seafood soon dubu jigae and got boiled water with a few pieces of zucchini and rawish supermarket mushrooms. I expected the customary silky smooth tofu, but instead it was an unappetizing mess of curdled soy milk. There was no spice from gochgaru or gochujang, just boiled unsalted vegetable water. It was entirely inedible. I ate some rice and banchan. The server first told me I had ordered the wrong dish even though their menu was incorrect. He later offered to redo the order to my liking, but I did not trust that it would be any better. They were very kind and removed the charge. I guess some people found the decor understated elegant. To me it was funeral. This is an expensive restaurant with accommodating owner and staff, but without good food or ambiance. I don't recommend it.

We always do the BBQ at the table which has never disappointed. The side dishes that are included are typical Korean, and never lack flavor. Their red salsa and Kimchi are always wonderful. We typically order another dish or two including the Ramen, which is always good, but the BBQ here is what shines. They also have some very good Ice Cream options for dessert, my favorite is the Corn Ice Cream which is served in a Corn Husk, and the Coconut Ice Cream which is served inside a coconut shell. We love Biwon and will continue to return!

I honestly do not know how they got so many positive reviews. My friends and I got the soup and it tasted awful. I feel like even the instant soup pack is better than what they made. Maybe this place tastes good for the locals because they never had real korean food before but avoid this place at all cost. I tipped 5% at the end and the waiter came back and asked more for tips. Like please ask yourself what did you do that was above and beyond that earned those tips. I rejected to tip more because the food was awful and they never checked on us how the food was.

After a week of…read moredelicious Mexican food we were feeling something a little closer to home and decided to go for Korean. Unfortunately the place was basically empty when we arrived but we are so glad we didn't let that change our minds. The decor inside was definitely a lot of fun and totally instagram-worthy... something along the lines of Alice in Wonderland meets Biggie? Which definitely reminded me of the Ktown vibes found in Los Angeles. As for the food, I'm always pretty skeptical of non-Koreans doing Korean food or Korean food outside Korean-populated areas (it's something about the texture) - but this place came pretty darn close! Of course the menu itself seemed to be a kind of Korean-majority fusion cuisine with broad Asian influences likely designed for the Mexican palate, but for a bunch of New Yorkers it was still pretty comforting to get a hot bowl of (modified?) bimbimbap on a Friday night in the middle of CDMX. The four of us each ordered something different -arroz frito con bulgogi, hamburgesa mexicoreana, duo de pollo frito, and noodles con veduras. The portions are pretty generous and the flavors definitely hit the spot we were craving for. Needless to say we were all extremely satisfied with our meals. BUT... that's not the end of it. We also decided to order from the Sweet Girl Moves dessert menu, which was probably our best decision of the night. This particular friend group isn't the most ~adventurous~ when it comes to different foods but they all loved the dessert, which were all very interesting flavor arrangements but nonetheless delicious and very creatively presented. My friend ordered the popcorn-themed one and almost practically burst into tears of joy. We definitely left the establishment very happy and well-fed and would recommend it to anyone visiting or local in a heart beat!
