I recently took the sushi-making class at Sur La Table in West Palm Beach, and it was hands-down one of the best culinary experiences I've had. From start to finish, the class was engaging, educational, and genuinely fun, whether you're a total beginner or someone who already enjoys making sushi at home. The class was led by Chef Tony, who was absolutely fantastic. He explained techniques clearly, kept the pace comfortable, and made the entire experience feel approachable and exciting. You could tell he truly loves teaching--he was patient, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone felt confident rolling their own sushi. One of the biggest highlights was how thoughtfully they accommodated gluten-free needs. Everything was clearly explained, substitutions were handled seamlessly, and I never felt like I was missing out. That level of care made the experience even more enjoyable and stress-free. The sushi itself turned out incredible--fresh ingredients, great flavor combinations, and honestly restaurant-quality results. Walking out with the skills (and confidence) to recreate these rolls at home was a huge bonus. This is not for the individual store. but ordering on line. They are the worse company to deal with for a price adjustment. I found out about a reduction in price on the 15th day after i ordered even though they put it on sale 9 days after i bought. They are claiming that their policy is date I notified them not a guarantee of the price for the 14 days after purchase. This is the nonsense they wrote back. Thank you for reaching out to us. I had my first cooking class at Sur La table and I promise you it won't be my last! I came here as a solo date for my birthday and I did a cooking class ironically with a few other people who are celebrating their birthday as well. The experience was nice. We did a full course meal with the food that we cooked. We were also able to get the recipes for the foods we cooked, to save for our collection, which I enjoyed. One thing I do want to mention is that you are able to bring your own drinks as in wine, which I wish I knew and definitely would've brought a bottle of wine to enjoy while I cooked, but if you don't drink, there is also water as well. I reaaaaaally want to give the cooking experience a 2 but there was a nice lady (I purposely asked her name and didn't note it in the draft so that went that cause my memory is trash these days) that made the difference. I guess my boss wanted to do something different for holiday team gathering so he booked this. I was not in the mood to be standing over two hours especially since I recently injured my knee. I don't fault SLT for me not wanting to stand. My boss also booked a pasta making class and since I'm eating low carb, decided to only try two pieces of each pasta we made. First time making fresh pasta and will be the last unless I go to another class somewhere. Too much work lol but the main chef (older white gentleman) was ok but he barked orders most times. I was hella annoyed. He was always helpful but I think he needs to amend his approach some. One of the pastas was way too lemony and we found out at the end that the course also included a salad that we didn't make cause we started late. There was an older female chef that I ended up talking to at the end; she was nice and also helpful off and on during the class when she wasn't getting ready for the next class. She's the reason for the extra star. Their restroom is single stall and that was the most low /slow flow toilet I've ever experienced in life. Review strictly off the cooking class at this location. I have done cooking classes at other locations, and they've been AMAZING! Signed up for a class here around Thanksgiving, with Chef John. The instructor was quiet (without a microphone), seemed confused half the time, and only spoke to one of the three groups the entire time, creating a room full of chaos. Everyone was lost as to what they should be doing the entire time. He had everyone cook turkey for 20 minutes- all turkey was RAW (the recipe we received on our way out said it was supposed to be 2 hours). He ruined all of the dessert by leaving it in the freezer too long, so 10 people split one person's small tray of pie pastries (all that was still salvageable) among all of us. At this point, 2 people had already left the class they were so disgusted with the way it was going. Most unacceptable and off-putting part of this class for me though (besides the purple turkey), was when Chef John took our expensive bottle of wine, and without asking, poured it into someone's gravy!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. When we approached him and asked him about it, his answer was "you're voted off the island". WHAT? Inappropriate and appalling. You're allowed to bring your own wine to drink during class, but then the instructor takes it and uses it in a cooking demo. Sweet old man but needs to retire from teaching cooking classes. Emailed Sur La Table immediately, and was told my complaint would be forwarded to management. I continued to email them, awaiting a response. Several months later, about 10 emails later on my end (0 from them), I was finally told they would refund me. They didn't care to inquire about anything that happened that night. What a let down for a huge company that I previously would've recommended to anyone. So just beware, Chef John said he teaches over 90% of cooking classes at this location. Stay far away, save your money and your time, and your stomachs!!!! read more

For my friends birthday I booked us the perfect steak night experience and it was a much better than I imagined! It was a full class about 20 people and the chef was funny and helpful! The recipe was amazingggg and I emailed them and asked them for the pdf so I could make it at home! I would recommend getting there a little before time so you can wash your hands and pick what station you want to be at. Even if you are a good cook it's a great experience and I definitely want to go again! read more

I took my staff to a surf and turf cooking class where we paired off in groups of 3 and made steak, shrimp, saffron risotto with an arugula salad and homemade vinaigrette dressing with a Pana cotta with hazelnut brittle for dessert. Our instructor was so friendly, knowledgeable, patient and professional. Some of my group didn't cook at all, and some of us cook regularly but we ALL were able to learn new useful tips and every single part of our meal was amazing! The only part I hated was that you can't take home the leftovers of what you make. read more

I think the idea is great. My son and I took a baking class here. He had fun and learned some things about baking, so I'm happy about that! The instructor obviously was trying her best, but she seemed stressed, which kind of stressed me out. My main complaint is that there was ample room to spread us all out, but instead they made us share a table AND ingredients with another mom and child. At one point the mother and child had used up all the chocolate before it came to our turn to use it. At the end of class, it was a free for all, and we had to race to get our share of the baking items we baked before this mother and child took them all. It was so ridiculous. My son picked up on this craziness as well. For the money that we pay, the participants/family should get their own table AND ingredients, especially when the class wasn't even full! read more

A few weeks ago I purchased a cooking class for 3 women in our family for Christmas and the store called me the night before to cancel it. This is the second time I purchased a cooking class near the holidays for the women in the family and the second time they canceled it on us. But this time they gave us only a few hours notice. After having my money (and Christmas gifts) in their hands, they say they will take several days to return my money. Their barely-an-apology is grossly inadequate. Perhaps they should stop advertising and offering these non-existent classes. read more

Right now they are having Black Friday where most items are discounted . The cooking class does not teach you techniques how to cook. We went to a couples' night cooking class but it felt like a fast paced version of top chef. We shared ingredients and cooking spaces with other couples and the instructor didn't show us HOW to do things and would just come around and correct people instead of any demonstration beforehand. It was too chaotic for my liking. Also, the other couples we were forced to team up with were obnoxious. I would not pay $200 to come here again. read more

Where do I begin?! My mom is a baker who is getting very good at sugar cookie baking and royal icing decorations. She is already very skilled and I thought this class was going to be informative for her. It was not, she could have taught the class much better. The class started late and the chef was horrible. He was extremely rude to the participants and didn't explain anything. They called the class a cookie and royal icing class and he didn't teach anyone how to flood cookies which is the correct way and term for icing cookies. He wanted people to dip the cookies into a bowl of icing. I was out of my mind!!! I insisted on doing it the proper way and got me and my mom another piping bag to fill with our flooding icing. No one learned anything, seriously a shame. I wanted to speak up and teach people the proper way to do things but I didn't want to enrage the chef who was already miserable and clearly did not want to be there. DO NOT take a class here. Maybe it's better with a different chef but this was an absolute disaster. I paid $138 for my mom and I to learn nothing new and to feel uncomfortable the entire time by a nasty chef. I won't name the chef but he claimed he was a baker... no way in hell. read more

Went to Rosemary Square WPB location w/my mom and daughter! Was a fun and fabulous evening out! We had the best Chefs, Stefan & Dee, teaching us. They made the class with their jokes, professionalism, and great cooking technique. We will be back but only if these 2 are the chefs!! My wife and I signed up and paid for a cooking class with a meal about 2 months ago for a course on May 2. We got immediate confirmation of the payment and class date that day and date of the class. Unfortunately, and this was our fault, we missed the class. When we called there was no refund and we accept that. As a customer, I would SUGGEST that Sur La Table should at least send a reminder out 4-7 days before an event. With so much going on with our lives today a courtesy reminder would be welcomed. Especially, when one of the customer service reps stated that clients forgetting happens fairly often. Thanks. read more

A girlfriend and I took a cooking class three days ago. Even though the class holds 16, there were only two of us that day. Chef Stefan and kitchen assistant, Stephanie, were wonderful. They made every new technique easy to understand and execute. There's an old saying that "everything is easy when you know how". We knew how by the time class was done. Attended the "Bold Tuscan Flavors" cooking class which made for an incredible date night. We learned and made a Strip Steak with a Chianti Pan sauce, Potato Gnocchi with pesto, arugula salad and mint chocolate chip gelato. Everything tasted amazing and we especially fell in love with the Chianti pan sauce-- a new sauce we make all the time now. It was a very fun experience and everything was planned out for maximum ease. We will definitely be returning for more classes as both the taste of the food and the experience of learning helpful cooking tips were definitely worth the price. Some tips include to bring your own wine, etc because they don't serve any, and to know ahead of time you are not allowed to bring any food home (which was no problem because the servings were perfect). Also we did not make the pesto sauce, gelato, or the salad, instead our chef made them in front of everyone. Our chef Christopher was very helpful and nice and I would definitely recommend taking one of his classes! read more

We took a cooking class last night where we made beef Wellington. I have been to a few other cooking classes in the past and I didn't feel that this one was worth what we paid. The timing of the class was off - we were instructed to cook the vegetables before the meat and that lead our class to be an hour over the allotted time (the class should have been 2 hours). Every other class I have been to in the past had a sit down dinner at the end to enjoy your finished dish, however this class we stood in the kitchen to eat dinner - no chairs were available at all for the entire 3 hour class. Our actual dinner felt very rushed at the end and unfortunately we were told we couldn't take our leftovers home. Most other classes have some sort of appetizer to eat while cooking, and this class didn't. Some of the classmates wanted to go to Publix next door during the class to buy bread for dipping. Overall, I wouldn't personally select this cooking class again unfortunately and I wouldn't recommend it. read more
