I want to start by reminding everyone that Wisconsin has a Move Over law. If you're on a multi…read morelane highway and you see a disabled vehicle, police, EMS, fire, road repair, tow truck, postal vehicle or whatever on the side of the road you should move over a lane for safety. If you're already in the next lane, make room for drivers to move away from the side of the road. I feel very strongly about this because tow truck drivers have families to go home to. Anyway, it was a dark and stormy night. Maybe I should have started with that. My car electrical system warning light came on giving me about 20 seconds to pull to the side of the Interstate in the Pewaukee area before my car completely died. I would later find out it was the alternator. AAA couldn't find any available tow trucks, and running through the area tow trucks on YELP made me realize that a lot of towing companies list some bogus address so that a search by distance yields some really inappropriate phone numbers. One company in Whitewater WI actually had me on the phone for 10 minutes before admitting it would take a couple days for them to come and get me. I was way down the list (yes, sorted by distance) when Apple Towing answered on the second ring, helped me figure out where I was, and dispatched a brave tow truck driver in under half an hour. In order to hook my car up, at one point his head was maybe a foot and a half away from idiots zipping by at breakneck speeds reckless texting-driving in the pouring rain. He towed me all the way to my neighborhood mechanic, Rowell's, in Milwaukee for a pretty reasonable price. I tipped him the tiny amount of cash I had on me, and he graciously thanked me like I was generous. When you're completely at the mercy of someone who could totally rip you off, that's when common decency is most appreciated.

Got to my car within 30 minutes had me out in 20 min. They were polite and didn't mess around. They had to drive backwards a block down my street to get to me because my road is very narrow. I was one minute stuck and the next minute boom I was out! A sigh of relief after trying to shovel out for two hours after work on a 7 degree night. Took my credit card for payment which was $138.00. I called and emailed them the next day to ask for additional information so I can process a claim with my auto insurance. They got back to me within 30 minutes with a revised receipt!!! We came to know of Express Towing & Recovery under extremely unfortunate circumstances. We were…read moretraveling on I94 during a winter storm when another car spun out and hit us, rendering our car un-driveable. (No one was injured. The car did not survive.) It was the Waukesha Sheriff Deputy that called Express Towing for us. Tim arrived on scene and immediately got to work assessing the job, helping us figure out how to get home and making sure we stayed safe on the side of the highway. In the end Tim took us to a nearby hotel and waited while we checked for a vacancy. Before he left he gave us a run down on what we needed to do and the things that would be put in motion over the next few days. The next day we met him at the tow yard to get some things from the car and he was just as helpful and friendly as the night before. When I called to report the accident to my insurance company they specifically said that we were working with one of the best tow companies in the area. I couldn't agree more.

Because Kico's is approved by Tesla, its driver Nick -- knowledgeable and friendly! -- quickly opened the correct compartments, got the battery starting to warm, and then flat-bedded my Model S to a nearby Supercharger. I was stranded, used YELP to find a towing service, this one was the third one I called. They answered right away, gave me an accurate and reasonable ETA, found me, carefully towed my antique Audi to my mechanic's garage for the price quoted and the driver graciously accepted my cheap tip (all the cash I had on me at the time).
