I hired Figs & Honey for a 75-person open house last month with a scheduled arrival/setup by 1pm…read more Unfortunately, they arrived three hours late and did not return any of my calls or texts during that time despite multiple attempts. The food was only set up when the event was already halfway over, which was extremely disappointing. While the food itself tasted good once served and the staff was courteous upon arrival, the complete lack of communication and reliability made the event stressful and unprofessional. Catering relies heavily on timing, and this experience fell far short of expectations for the price point. To this day, the owner, Clair, has never reached out to even communicate with me about what occurred. I would not recommend this caterer for time-sensitive events unless they improve their professionalism, punctuality, and client communication.

I paid the deposit via their Quickbooks but wasn't able to find a link for the balance. I called and emailed the entire day before the balance was due but wasn't emailed back until 3:30 that afternoon. I wanted to pay via Venmo or Quickbooks (as stated in their contract) but wasn't able to and was told that I had to pay via my credit card. The credit card payment included a 3% surcharge which was substantial due to the amount that I owed. On top of that, they asked for a tip! We were picking up the order. I felt pressure to tip so I did! I wasn't able to adjust the amount of food that I ordered with a final count either and had so much wasted food. I wouldn't recommend their service.

I booked Almond Cakes and Catering for my mother's 85th birthday. A very special day for our…read morefamily. July 1st, 1:00 pm was the scheduled date and time. I waited a while to post a review hoping Ms. Almond would do the right thing based on the cons below: Pros: Very flexible, I had to change the time and date. I booked far enough in advance I didn't think it would be a problem Ms. Almond was very accommodating. The pork chops were great, banana pudding cake was delicious, green beans, mac and cheese and Cajun chicken pasta were ok. Cons: Scheduled time was 1:00 pm, she arrived at 1:45 pm. My family said Ms. Almond was not friendly. When asked if she needed help, she said that would be nice. Mind you, this is NOT our responsibility. The food was not hot, we had to wait for the water to get hot to serve the food, we had to microwave some of it so we could begin eating. There was supposed to be signs for the food, didn't get that, 3 gallons of sweet tea were Milo's tea from a store. I thought it was a sweet tea from her company. I ordered filet mignon we didn't receive that; we received some round meat. When I asked Ms. Almond about it she said it was filet mignon, I sent her a picture of what we received and a picture of a filet mignon. She said she made four pieces of another kind of steak for people who didn't eat the filet mignon. I didn't ask for that, I had other options for guests to choose from. The meat was tough, and no one liked it. I feel I deserved some type of compensation for not receiving the filet mignon and for her being late and not setting up properly. This was a special occasion that didn't go well at all.

We worked with Avalon for our wedding ceremony (70 guests) in December of 2012, and we couldn't…read morehave been happier. They were one of the less expensive caterers in our search, but you certainly couldn't tell from the experience we had! Cathy was pleasant, flexible and patient as we went through the process of figuring out what we wanted, and we appreciated that she tried to incorporate local and seasonal ingredients into her menus. Both the passed hors d'oeuvres and the buffet service went smoothly, and our guests raved that it was some of the best wedding food they had ever had. Some of the favorites were the beef short ribs, the "shrimp and grits" hors d'oeuvres, and the rice middlins risotto, which was so creamy that bets were being placed on whether or not the grits had made another appearance. We did provide our own desserts and alcohol, which helped with the bill considerably, but everything else was provided. The service was excellent, the timing was perfect, and they had no problem working with our venue, which was on the slightly unusual side (Paris on Ponce). We highly suggest going with Avalon for your next event!

When I heard about the 1953 Chevy truck outfitted with a Valoriani pizza oven I was immediately…read moreintrigued. A myriad of questions traveled through my mind. A pizza oven on a truck? Can it be driven? Is it really fully functional? All these questions were put to rest as I glided outside to see this fully outfitted food truck. It was beautiful! There were appetizers and sample pizza slices for everyone. The wood fired pizza choices were margherita, clam, butternut squash and pistachio pesto. The margherita was scrumptious. I love when restaurants use fresh ingredients. You can literally taste the difference. The tomato, basil and mozzarella were a tasty melody. The clam was good. It was composed of fresh mozzarella, clams, parmesan and cream. I never had clam on pizza before. It was a pleasant surprise. Butternut squash was up next. I'm not a huge fan but I was willing to give it a shot. Roasted squash, caramelized onions, mozzarella, arugula and truffle oil sounded good. And it was. This combination was sheer genius. I'll go as far as to say that it was my favorite. Last but certainly not least was the Pistachio Pesto. This one really had me questioning my life. Pistachios are good in ice cream and even by themselves. On pizza? Pesto, goat cheese, ground pistachios and spicy honey made the perfect blend. It was so good! I spoke briefly with owners Bob and Bryan Lewis who were both excited about staking their claim on the Atlanta market. Their calendar is overwhelmed with bookings into the new year. Click Here to book them for your next gathering. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable about every food item. They were even more passionate about describing how each pie was made. All the servers were friendly and full of joy. They love what they do. That's important. If they love what they do, they'll make sure clients have a delightful time. Before the night was out they made s'mores! I haven't had homemade smores since I was a teen. They made them right there in the oven. They were so good. I absolutely had more than my share. This launch was a huge success. What a way to introduce a brand that will be covering events in the metro Atlanta area and beyond. I look forward to many more events in the near future. I was greeted immediately upon walking in, and I asked if I could pick up a meal for my sister as well who also works in the hospital. I was told yes without any hesitation, and he told me it wasn't even necessary to see my badge. I ordered one of each plate. For mine, I got the mojo pork quesadillas which comes with rice, beans, and sweet potato mash. Both meals come with chips, salsa, a drink, AND a roll of toilet paper. The quesadilla was amazing. Probably one of the best I've ever had. The pork was soft and juicy. There was plenty of cheese which I love. And it comes with an avocado sauce which was really good too, but the quesadilla already tastes amazing enough without it. I was truly amazed by how good the food was. But what amazed me more was how generous and kind he was. I was offered to take as many rolls of toilet paper as I wanted, drinks, and two free meals. I didn't have to wait long for my food, and when I asked if they'd accept tips, I was told no. I was told this was all donations. From what I saw from the Facebook post, they have been offering free food for a few days now. Such a kind and generous act during this time when businesses are struggling. I will most certainly be back, and I will bring my friends as well! Thank you Sol Catering for your amazing food and generosity.
