Place is really cute. Nice atmosphere…read more After reading other reviews it seams that they have a rotating menu and a couple waiters/waitresses do speak a little English. Our waiter helped us with the menu and gave us recommendations. We had a pretty good Dunkle for a beer option. The duck was great and the stroganoffs was really good too. No noodles. I guess that's a bit Americanized if there are noodles. The gravy on both was delicious. We had the chocolate cake and a coffee ice cream float for dessert.

This was probably one of the weirdest dining experiences I've had in Germany…read more The restaurant/biergarten was tucked away in the city center of Schwerin. For some reason I had this vision of like a Hofbrauhaus or some sort of classic German building with these exquisite murals painted on the way. It took me a minute to figure out the restaurant was right in front of me; very modern design for the face of the building. Upon walking inside, you get a very cozy, family feel (we were seated toward the entrance which didnt give us a chance to see the rest of the establishment. The hosts and waiters were extemely nice. Even though most of them did not speak a lot english, they tried and worked with us. Most of the tables seemed to be reserved, but they were able to squeeze us (and our baby stroller in) last minute. So props to them. Food, on the other hand, was interesting for a lack of a better description. I ordered a creamy tomato soup, but it was pretty much a bowl of marina sauce one would use on pizza, garnished with green onions and croutons (could have done without the greens). For the entrees, we order the Lammragrout (lamb stew) and Omas Saurfleish (sour, pickled pork). Both dishes were cold when served. The sour pork came in a mini mason jar, but seemed like it was just freshly taken out of the fridge. It looked like meat particles floating in a vat of its own gelatinous fat. Im giving the benefit of the doubt that this is how it was intended to be served. Not a bad taste, but I had my mind set on a warm meal. My wife's lamb stew came on a cast iron skillet which gave the impression that it was going to be hot. Her first spoonful came up short and it was rather cold. In fact, she ended up burning her mouth with the potatoe wedges instead. Throwing those bad boys into the stew was how she ended up heating it. Three quarters of the way into her meal, she bit into something hard. When she retrieve this solid particle from her mouth, it looked like what was a fish bone (the lamb they used must have had a small rack/rib cage I'm guessing). We both ended up laughing it off and still enjoyed our experience. Sometimes its the little things - you either let it ruin your day or move on and rise above.

I went the use the toilet after ordering and when I came back I saw she brought my water, a bitter lemon soda (which we ordered) and two small glasses of rice wine. We didn't order the rice wine and thought it to be complementary since we had a long wait to order. We ordered two soups and two entrees. The soups took fifteen minutes to be served and the bowls were the size of finger bowls. So small after such a long wait. Our entrees took another twenty minutes to be served. Really? Fir wok food? We noticed another six parties entering the restaurant while we waited and all but one of them were served their entrees before us. The wait was noticeable. The entrees were average. Not exceptional but not awful either - just average. When we finally got our bill we paid it and didn't feel they earned a tip. When we returned to our hotel I noticed that we were charged 9.5 euros for the tiny glasses of cheap rice wine. I wish I had looked more carefully at the bill. We felt like we were robbed. We also noticed that the locals were given friendly, prompt service and that their portions were of proper size. So my advice is that this restaurant may be okay if they know you but if you're in Ahrensburg for business or touring, stay away from this place. They will serve you drinks that you did not order, make you wait as they take care of the locals first, and give you small portions. We were very disappointed as they ruined our evening with their rude service.

There was only one other couple seated in the restaurant before us when we arrived. We were left waiting quite a while to even place our orders. The lady was Sour faced and extreamly had an extreamly rude manner towards us. After ordering Soup which we were left waiting for we noticed other parties of people who seemed local residents arrived and were greeted more warmly and served much more efficently and promtly to the cold reception to which we received. They already had their orders way ahead of us. When we received our soup mind you which took what felt like to long a wait even for simple soup it was presented in finger sized bowls. When we looked at other patrons in the restaurant servings to compare with ours it was easy to gage that ours was miniscule a portion serving compared to their larger soup sized bowls. We were also served a water we ordered and bitter lemon soda drink, as well as two small rice wines in tiny wine nip spririt sized glasses which we did not order and presumed were complimentary due to the slow service we received. We were left to wait so much more longer and the wait was dragging out which seemed riddiculous and we were almost were about to pay for what we received and walk out when our meals arrived which where simple Asian style dishes not requiring much preparation or cooking time for wok cooked dishes, for the time which we were left to wait. They where nothing out of the ordinary that I couldn't cook at home if not better myself. We did not pay a tip at the end of the meals as we where most dissatisfied with the appauling service and did not feel that they they should be rewarded with a tip or earned one. Then after arriving at our hotel room we reviewed our bill and to our dismay discovered we were overcharged 9.50 Euro for the Rice wine drinks which we did not order at all and presummed where complimenary and free. The atitude of this restaurant is very rude, unwelcoming and incompetant towards non local visitors and tourists. I advise if you are not a local or resident of this area to stear wide clear away from it and save yourself the waste of time visting New Long Chinese Restaurant and the humilation of the poor service and treatment here in the public view of Local diners. This Restraurant spoiled our evening.
