I really liked the store layout, the cleanliness, and variety of products available.
What I didn't like was being called a liar.
I shopped for the first time on September 6, 2013 at 2:54pm
After shopping for my items, I went to checkout and the total came out to about $93
I was confused at first, because I know it should have been around 70 dollars.
I told the cashier that I was paying by Visa, and she told me to go to the other side of the isle and put my card in. When I reached the other side, the total changed to $83, hmm, I was confused, then I thought maybe a mistake was made and then was corrected by the time I went to the other side. So I inserted my chip card Visa into the Point-of-Sale terminal, entered my PIN, and approved, then remove card.
The cashier was busy, she dropped my reciept on the ground, she asked me what I wanted a Bubble Tea or a box of Orion Cake, then pointed to the flyer and showed me that because I spent more than $48 that I can choose one of the two items for free. I told her she dropped my receipt behind the counter and she picked it up and gave it to me, then after she kept hounding me about what item i wanted for free I said fine the bubble tea. So she printed another receipt duplicate and handed it to me. She said to go to the cafe / bubble tea area and show them both receipts and they will give me a FREE Bubble Tea.
She insisted I go now, but I asked if I can take my groceries to the car first and then do it, and she finally agreed after asking her 3 times. I took my groceries to the car and returned to the store. I showed both receipts to the gentleman who was working in that area and he grabbed both receipts from my hand and took a black pen and drew a line from the top of the receipt to the bottom, for both receipts, and handed me the duplicate. The duplicate was a shorter receipt and didn't have my Visa transaction on it. I told him I want the long one with my Visa transaction information on it, and he said they are both the same, and he finally agreed to give it to me and I gave him back the duplicate.
It was about $75 worth of groceries plus about $7 HST which came to about $83 total.
So far so good, I have my groceries in the car and I have my FREE Bubble Tea, I go home and everything is fine.
The next day, after I finished work, I went back to the store to grab a few more items I saw the day before and went to the same isle I went to the day before.
September 7, 2013 at 7:31pm
It is now September 7, 2013 and I am waiting in the same isle, and a girl on the right of me was yelling over here I can help you over here, it was an empty isle that I didn't even notice. So I go to that isle and when I go to pay my total about $35, she says NO you can't pay by credit card! I said What? I paid yesterday by credit card.
and she said no you didn't ! (SHE WAS CALLING ME A LIAR)
I said I can bring the receipt to prove it to you, and she said ok bring it. She started asking who was the cashier and if they were Chinese or not, and I said yes she was and there was also a boy bagging the groceries.
She kept telling me that I wasn't allowed to pay with Visa and pointed to a small piece of paper behind the register that said "We no longer accept credit cards" and only cash or debit was allowed.
Finally a man came over, maybe he was the manager, or something, he was definitely somebody with a higher authority than her. They spoke in Chinese back and forth and I explained to him that I paid with credit card yesterday and now she is saying I can't pay with it and I showed him the little paper sign behind the register.
He spoke Chinese with her again and she finally said ok put your credit card, and the manager walked away. So I inserted my chip card into the terminal entered my PIN and the transaction was complete, and the cashier looked mad that I completed my transaction with a credit card. She didn't say anything just handed me the receipt, and ignored me, I said is that it, am I done? I wanted to know if I could leave I said is this my receipt ? Then she looked at me again with a mean look then started helping the next customer, by now I realized I was done, so I grabbed my groceries and left.
When I got home,I called the store and asked if they accepted credit cards, and the girl who answered said "NO". Then I asked, for how long have you not accepted credit cards? and she answered 3 weeks.
So their website shows that they do accept Visa, but apparently they don't now?
Maybe they should update their website to show that they don't accept MasterCard or Visa anymore, and now they only accept Debit cards.
Now they only accept Cash or Debit. read more
