Unfortunately, I recently purchased a door lock that turned out to be defective. After driving to my customer's property, installing the lock, and discovering that the keys did not operate both locks properly, I had to remove everything and return to the store.
This situation cost me approximately an hour and a half of my time, including installation, removal, and additional travel.
The manager inspected the product, confirmed it was defective, and issued a full refund, which I appreciate. However, when I asked for a reasonable discount on another purchase as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience and lost labor, he simply stated that he did not have the authority to offer one.
To be fair, the manager was respectful throughout our conversation. My disappointment is not with his attitude, but with the lack of flexibility or willingness to explore another solution.
As a contractor and loyal customer, I understand that defective products happen. However, good customer service should go beyond simply refunding a defective product, especially when the customer has already invested time and labor installing it.
I hope the store ownership takes this feedback seriously and considers how situations like this affect customers who depend on their products for their businesses.
