Battery Park Marina - A view of Cedar point at the Battery park Marina.

Battery Park Marina

After becoming frustrated with our marina in Port Clinton last year, we toured 10 different marinas…read morein search of a new home and eventually settled on Battery Park Marina in Sandusky, OH. Best decision ever! We love keeping our 'floating condo' in Sandusky. There's so much to do, including Cedar Point, all the area restaurants, water parks, local festivals and movie nights in the park. Battery Park has a great swimming pool that isn't directly adjacent to the road, making it a very peaceful place to relax. But our favorite thing about Battery Park Marina is the staf!. Everyone here from the owner Paula and the manager Bob down to every dock hand is incredibly friendly and immensely helpful! We had small issues upon occasion that were addressed immediately. For example, one day we arrived at our boat and within ten minutes the owner of the marina was at our slip telling us that a seagull had dropped a half-eaten fish onto our boat. The staff not only pulled the fish off, but had someone clean it for us! There were several times when bad storms went through the area. They always send someone out afterward to check every boat for damage, but when we called to check on our boat, someone always went out one more time for us just to double-check and give us peace of mind. The bathrooms are fully cleaned out once a week (as in sprayed down with a pressure washer and closed down mid-week for nearly 5 hours to ensure they're clean and dry), the docks are secured by gates, and there's roaming security at night. We cannot say enough good things about Battery Park Marina!

Before going to get gas at this marina on 7/28 we called and asked what time they are open until…read more We were provided with the time of 5:00pm. We arrived after boating across the bay at 4:40pm and as we pulled up, the kid working said that they were out of gas as he was putting locks on the pumps. However, the boat ahead of us was in the process of fueling up. As we inquired, the answer changed to, "We are closed." Understandably frustrated we mentioned at we called ahead to ask and the kid Caleb almost refused to fuel the boat. He was no help in helping us dock and if it wasn't for the nice lady working saying, "I don't know why he said that because we are indeed open until 5:00". Caleb probably wanted to just get out of there but when you boat across the whole bay with little fuel, if it wasn't for the nice girl we would have been stranded in the marina. Overall Caleb gets an F for customer service and for lying. We will avoid getting fuel from this place again.

Do NOT go here for service! I had my boat towed here when my upper drive unit failed because the…read moreprior owners took good care of me in the past. That was the first of June. It took them until July 12th to even offer a diagnosis and a COMPLETELY LUDICROUS estimate of 1/3 of the boat's value. They claimed they had to replace the lower drive unit too, even though I told them it was under warranty. When I said there was no way I would pay that amount, and would arrange for the boat to be picked up, they passed it over to an affiliate shop, that immediately back-pedaled on the estimate and said they could get the warrantied part a d replace the upper unit for less than a third of what I had been quoted. I reluctantly agreed. It took another 6 weeks, thereby wasting the entire season. But the job finally got done. Then, when I went to pick the boat up, the original shop presented me with a bill for hoist and diagnosis. I begrudgingly paid it, considering how they had tried to rip me off initially. When I tried to drive the boat back to my own Maina, the batteries wouldn't hold a charge. They had left the boat sit in their yard for three months without charging the batteries or disconnecting them. But they refused to replace them, thus costing me another $400+ to get them replaced before the impending rain storms hit, making power to my bilge pumps immediately essential. Then later they had the gall to present me with yet another invoice, supposedly for additional charges for the diagnosis. This is a highly unprofessional and dishonest organization. I would never go near them again with a nickel. I normally do not give bad reviews, but this is probably the most richly deserved negative review I've ever written.

Instead of a NEW REBUILT engine, they used the old parts on the new block. They were paid by the insurance company for the agreed upon engine. Now we are having continuous problems with repairing the old parts they installed. Thankfully insurance company is now getting involved. STAY AWAY - THEY ARE TERRIBLE, WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANYONE AND EVERYONE.

A good friend who…read morereally knows boats suggested Catawba Moorings and after doing a bit of shopping around I selected them for the job. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the work and the fact that the boat was repaired and returned on schedule in the spring. Since then I have experienced two sudden and unexpected mechanical problems. Rocky and his crew at Catawba Moorings responded immediately in both cases and had me back on the water in no time. I am not a regular customer and my boat lives at Put-in-Bay, not in West Harbor. So neither case was a simple repair out in their marina or just down the road. The second incident required repairs to my port transmission. Rocky returned the boat to me on Wednesday night and my wife and I left on a 5 day cruise-out the next day without a sea trial. Rocky told me it was fixed and that was the case. The boat ran flawlessly. I have been very pleased with their work and recommend them. Their marina and related facilities also look great, though I haven't spent any time as a resident. Give them a look, they've earned it in my book.
