I have bought aftermarket exhaust systems in the past for less than that! I couldn't justify dropping $550 for a 10 year old vehicle with 120k miles on it that might be worth $3k if I'm lucky. So I just drove a loud car for close to a year. Fast forward to yesterday. I figured my car drives well enough that I'll be driving it for a few more years so why not get an estimate from a local small shop. I took my car in to Muffler Man on a Thursday afternoon. They took it right in and less than 10 minutes later, had the problem diagnosed and quoted me $225. More than half off of what Monroe quoted! I of course green lighted the job, and was called the next day. Now my SUV is as quiet as a mouse. Yes for another great local small business I'll support!
