Ann Gyoza Bar - Ebi-chan! So crunchy!

For a Gyoza Bar it is relatively quiet and when the waitresses kneel next to your table to take…read moreyour order it's very endearing. No shouting no loud welcome, more a western sit down. We ordered the chicken and spicy pork Gyoza and yelp! The spicy pork Gyoza has a real kick. 7 dumplings for $9 not bad for emporium prices. We also ordered the agedashi tofu and chicken karaage which came out nice and hot just the way I like it. Very cosy as in you are pretty close together and can subsist on the next tables convo quite clearly if you had nothing to Yelp about. Check out the cool plywood tables! I got a bit excited as I work in plywood. Not a bad lil joint and nice for a change compared to Harajuku Gyoza.

A friend has been raving about Gyoza Bar Ann to me since last year, insisting I had to check it out…read morenext time I was out that way. So there we were. Being located in Emporium, it could be difficult to describe where Gyoza Bar Ann is precisely. If you know where Wagamama and Guzman y Gomez is though, just round the corner behind Guzman y Gomez and you'll find Gyoza Bar Ann's large wooden plaque and several alfresco tables. I wasn't terribly hungry, so the SO ordered a small selection we could share (ie. he ate 90% and I took 10%). My favorite dish was the Ebi-chan, not only for the solid crunch that allowed you to eat the little prawns whole, but presentation-wise, it was just too cute! Gyoza Bar Ann's gyozas might not be as large as most conventional gyoza joints, but they are the bomb. Served with a splash of sauce done right at your table, these moist babies are the perfect mouthful of succulent porkiness wrapped in a silky and crispy shell. Even the bed of sliced onions on the hot plate soak up the flavour and soften to add another rich texture to the dish. Oh, and the spicy gyoza is actually spicy. Not overly so for the chilli champion, but for those who are chilli lightweights, you will feel a burn.
