Life…read more And seeing as I grew up in Nottingham, which is the birthplace of Boots and is home to some rather large Boots stores, that's really saying something. In the Boots at the Fort shopping centre you will find anything and everything health, beauty or pharmacy related that you could hope for. Looking for that nice hand cream someone bought you as a preset? They'll have it. After a new type of mascara you saw advertised on the telly? They'll have it. All this with a baby section, a mens section, a perfume section and a food section. They also have a huge photo section featuring instant printing machines as well as photo albums, cameras and related paraphernalia. Erm, so what more could you possibly want from a Boots? Friendly staff perhaps? Well, you're in luck! A couple of times I've found myself a little lost in this store, and have had to find a member of staff to point me in the right direction, or even give me a hand with the photo machines. Every time this has happened, I've come across really helpful members of staff who actually care about the well being of their customers. Result!

I say all these things about any Boots, then they opened the Glasgow Fort Boots and I loved them. The first thing to mention is that it is huge, muckle, amazingly massive. I have been know to spend well over a happy hour wandering and finding product lines and brands I would normally only expect to find in a big posh department store. But it isn't a stuffy formal department store, it's Boots! No airs and graces are required, you could be going int to by tena lady and haemorrhoid cream - I promise they weren't for me, they were for my sister to terrify her at her baby shower, honest. This Boots has the best product range for cosmetics and toiletries in Glasgow. I'm talking LIz Earle, Bumble and Bumble, Smashbox, Clinque, Chanel, Dior, YSL, Lancome, Benefit, Bare Minerals, Origins, Stilla, Butter, Essie, Dr Jart, Lanolips, I could go on. My only gripe is that they don't have Urban Decay, they used to but don't anymore and I object to buying expensive cosmetics anywhere else - no advantage points! The staff are great, friendly, chatty and happy to help and if you are a beauty junkie and haven't been yet then hang your head and get to the Fort!

The store is well laid out, tidy and all the aisles are clearly marked. At the back of the store, there is a treatment area and you can book in for eyebrow waxing etc. I've never tried it but it's handy to know it's there if I'm popping in to buy things and need to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. They stock a good variety of skincare and haircare brands. Nothing on the high end brand scale spectrum, but all the usual 'drugstore' brands you would expect to see. There are always offers on such as 3 for 2 or a price reduction etc which are handy to look out for. And if you need to stock up on toothpaste etc, it has everything you need! Overall, one of the better Superdrugs I have been to. It doesn't feel cluttered (which I find some of the city centre branches do) and they have a pretty good stock of testers etc, which is always handy!

The staff here are friendly and local and are happy to help without being pushy or sales driven. One of the best bargains to be found here is Batiste dry shampoo, which is a life saver on those days where you don't have time to wash your hair; a wee spray of this stuff, rustle your hair and you're good to go! Big name chemists sell this stuff for £2 and over, however you can pick it up from good old Savers for just £1.29. Why would you go anywhere else?

One of the shops I did secretly enjoy though was the Body Shop, it just smells so good. Having matured since those days my secretive liking of the Body Shop continues. If you are unfamiliar with the body shop they sell all sorts of toiletries, beauty products and candles that smell awesome. I think they are all made from natural products and not tested on animals. Basically if you need anything toiletry wise and you want it to smell really really good then this is where you want to be headed.

I used to go to Lush to treat myself and get most of my toiletries from Asda or Semi Chem, maybe Boots.. but now I get virtually everything out of Lush and so The Body Shop is my new favourite place to treat myself. Admittedly, I usually go to the Sauchiehall Street branch, but this one offers just as good a selection. The staff are suitably attractive and the prices are too. Coconut Body Butter.. Lip Balm.. So many amazing products. It's rare for me to dive in here to treat myself, but hey, I have a birthday every year the same as everyone else. So if you're not sure what to get me.. use your imagination and go in here!
