Hair is one of the most important visual cues we have to inaudibly announce who we are, a sort of set of nonverbal cliff notes, if those are still around. As for finding a good one, I've been through three and after a butcher job and a store closing I've found someone I entrust my furry noggin to and who never fails to go above and beyond. I decided to entrust my scalp to Mercer Hair Studio based on reviews. The store front is located in one of the most compact parking lots ever, I mean who planned this? Anyways walking in the décor is simple yet with a local art flair, demonstrating that these ladies are not only good at their craft but they're real artists at heart. This is good because of what I was there for took a certain amount of artistry not just a number 5 or a boys (men's) haircut. My stylist, whom wasn't exactly what I requested was gifted, exceptional at taking a picture and replicating in real life. Sitting in her chair the lady was caring and detail oriented except one issue, making sure every nook and cranny was addressed. She's not the fastest but above average and I believe that has more to do with my incessant jabbering and making jokes than her skill. As for the cuts, she was on the money but adding highlights or dyes she missed the task. Her dying was more like a whole platinum M&M style than highlights. I even gave her a picture so I wasn't satisfied with the amount she opted to put in my hair. I can't speak upon all the services provided here but from my experiences I'm some-what satisfied. The place is safe, but the prices are literally over twice what I was paying in Austin TX a year ago. In summary, be very diligent on the color and amount you want but be prepared to pay a lot more than other places. I don't believe their prices reflect some high level of quality, but it's far from poor.

I have been going to the same hair dresser for almost 20 years, so it's been a very difficult process to find someone new, but I think I have finally found a place to go! I scheduled my appointment online with zero difficulty. I got an email reminding me of my appointment. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and given paperwork to fill out. Within a few minutes, I was in a chair. I was having a perm done, and the lady doing it didn't seem certain about what she was doing, so another lady was giving her advice. Despite her inexperience (or so it seemed), I was super pleased at her job. The only downside was that it took FOREVER. I arrived at 2:30 and left at 5:50. I know perms take a while, but it took a REALLY long time. Part of it was her OCD at separating my hair for the rollers, but also because "[I] have a deceptive amount of hair." Nonetheless, my hair looks amazing and I'll definitely be back and will recommend Siz O Daz to friends. The biggest testament to my pleasure is that I'm willing to drive the 30 minutes it takes to get there to get my hair done.

I recently moved to Charleston from South Florida and I have had a hard time finding a salon that worked for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Yesi took the time to really talk with me about what I wanted to do with my hair; leaving me confident with her assessment. She didn't try to push me into continuing to color and even encouraged me to give my hair a rest. She patiently explained how I could transition with semi-permanent and described how she could use low lights to help cover my gray. I also appreciated the extra time she spent talking with me about my hair coloring, given that I'd only come in for a cut. The cut and blow-out she gave me is just perfect. I have wavy frizzy hair which was layered too much. She quickly softened it up, leaving just enough layers to give me bounce and shape. The real test is always to see if my hair looks nice the next day. I am low maintence so I don't like to spend a lot of time on my hair so once I washed it at home I was surprised! This cut is perfect! It looks great even days after. I'm so happy to have found such a professional, friendly salon right here in Ladson. I will definitely return! The extra point is that I fix it the next day and it is still beautiful. To me it is always a perfect cut and color. What disgraceful, inconsiderate and inexcusable service on the part of both the management and Kim not to inform me of the cancelled appointment!
