Hair was left all over the floor, and the overall space did not feel maintained. I did not see tools like combs or scissors being cleaned between clients. At one point, the same scissors appeared to be used after a customer had a cut, without being sanitized. Staff did not appear to wash their hands between clients. The broom used for cleaning looked very dirty. The restroom did not have soap available and did not appear hygienic. The salon also had an unpleasant smell. Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor hygiene practices, and the way I was treated make this a place I would not recommend.

I wanted a Pixie but I didn't think any of them REALLY listened to me; that is until I cold called Canyon Salon. I have extremely baby fine hair and over the last few years it has thinned out so I was looking for a haircut that made me look like I had more hair but one my thin fine hair would support. I was then assigned to Taylor Gilday. I was nervous at my 1st appt but my philosophy is "hair grows back"... I showed up and immediately was impressed that Taylor was at the front desk waiting for me! She has the most beautiful red hair and her bubbly, friendly personality was like a whole welcoming committee. I'm thinking, this is a good start.... She seats me down at her station and we talk; she's asking me what my thoughts were and we discuss my hair and what I wanted, the problems I have and my concerns. Let me tell you, I'm almost 70 yrs old so I've had a few stylist in my lifetime and I've NEVER had one that took as much time as Taylor did to get to "know" my hair and what I wanted. It was a shock tbh. My previous tries at a Pixie haven't turned out as what I had envisioned, they were, ummm, in a word - bad. When I went to Taylor, I don't know what I was sporting but it certainly wasn't a Pixie by any stretch of the imagination. I was the poster child for "Don't let this happen to you!" I maybe 70 but I don't want to look like an old lady; I still want style. After our extensive talk I asked Taylor what she ultimately thought, was what I was asking for unattainable? She was very honest with me and advised she would need at least 2 tries to get my vision and asked me to trust her and give her the 2 haircuts. I agreed, I had nothing to lose and like I say, it's hair, it'll grow back. She gave me the 1st cut, targeting the areas I had problems with and I walked out with hope. Eight weeks later I went in for the 2nd haircut and left with the BEST haircut I've had in YEARS! I knew right then and there that Taylor was my new "forever" stylist! Taylor is exceptionally good at conversing with her clients; she listens and understands her clients wants, needs, and concerns like no other stylist I've visited and she is amazing at cutting hair. A.MAZ.ING! Contrary to popular belief, Pixies are not an easy style to cut but believe me when I say Taylor knows how to cut a Pixie. And if she can cut a Pixie, she can cut any precision haircut. She is that good! I cannot recommend Taylor Gilday highly enough; I don't know what I would do without her expertise; she's phenomenal!!!

RUN AWAY ! DONT WALK !…read more I booked an appointment with a stylist that was recommended by the front desk. When I booked the appointment I asked about their stylists and asked to please match me with someone who was good with long hair cuts as I had very long hair. My hair texture is simple. Straight hair but it was long. The front desk paired me with a stylist for a hair cut and blow dry . I was 20 minutes late to said appointment and I take full responsibility for that. I was fully prepared for my appointment to be cancelled without a refund on the deposit. When I arrived I could tell the stylist was annoyed which I totally understood considering my late arrival. (I did call to let them know I was running late ) Because I had booked a hair cut and blow dry, theoretically, she should have had sufficient time for the cut but perhaps not the blow dry. I was very clear that I didn't need the blow dry and that the hair cut alone would do just fine. I would have been okay with being charged for the blow dry even if it wasn't done as that was what was scheduled. Instead, the stylist accepted me and proceeded with the appointment. She was visibly annoyed which made me uncomfortable but I stayed in good faith . She was personable during the appointment. We chatted throughout but I was concerned with the way she was cutting my hair . I am not a hair stylist so I thought maybe I was over thinking it and just needed to trust the process. I was incredibly wrong. The hair was left ridiculously uneven, not the shape we discussed and left me with a "rat tail". She went up so high on the sides so that I would have to essentially cut 6 or more inches off to even everything out. I cannot prove it but I am convinced this was done on purpose as a way to get back at me for coming late. When she finished the hair cut I knew something was off but couldn't really look at it properly until I had arrived at home. Even though I knew it was off , I decided to still tip the stylist 15 dollars as a courtesy and my way of apologizing for being late. The tip was not because I felt the hair cut was done well. When I got home I saw just how bad it was. I was so upset and dumbfounded that I wanted to cry . The next day I contacted the salon to inform them of what happened. I called looking to speak to the salon owner because this was not a small mistake. The salon owner never called me personally to discuss the situation . The receptionist, who said he was the lead, handled all communication between the owner and I. I was offered to have the hair cut redone with a different stylist (I made it clear I would not feel comfortable with the initial stylist) at no extra cost to me. That didn't work out for me so I asked for a refund which they obliged. Although the owner herself wasn't responsible for my hair cut, I feel she should have called to discuss the matter with me personally . I am very disappointed not only with the stylist but with the owner for not providing better customer service. I do not recommend this hair salon and will never return again.
