I found Sophia Elliss when I moved to Salt Lake City a few years ago and she is one of the most…read moretalented hairstylists I've seen. She really listens and will do exactly what you ask for, asking thoughtful follow-up questions to make sure she fully understands what you want. If you're not quite sure what you want, she also has an incredible eye and somehow seems to know what will look best. Most recently, she helped fix layers I had gotten from another stylist that just wouldn't lay right and were uneven. I regretted them immediately, but Sophia took one look and said, "No problem, I know how to fix this." Within 30 minutes I went from feeling depressed about my botched layers to loving my haircut. She's also incredibly pleasant to talk with-- uplifting, positive, and someone you genuinely look forward to seeing. She most recently joined the team at Amber Renee and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist.

I'm one of those people that waits to get my hair cut until I have so many bad hair days in a row…read morethat I can't take it anymore. I found myself in this predicament and the lady that usually does my hair was booked out several weeks. This left me with a decision-wait for her or take the chance on some place I know nothing about, but could get me in sooner. Since I only needed a trim, I opted to take the chance, and it ended up pretty good. My cut is fine, nothing spectacular. But I left with what I wanted-the dead ends cut off. She even round brushed out my curls and made my otherwise curly hair pretty straight for a few days until I washed it again. However, my experience was a little odd. The girl that cut my hair barely talked to me-I'm used to a little bit of conversation, but she kept to herself other than to clarify how I wanted my hair cut and to explain what she was doing. The facility is also a bit underwhelming. It is dated and not very aesthetically pleasing-old mismatched tile, no pictures on the walls, dirty surfaces. Part of the appeal of a salon and spa is the atmosphere and this one is bare bones. I will give it to them for the price-my cut and style was less than $50 and I was able to book an appointment within 4 days, so I didn't have to wait long.

it seems she has been trying to delete my original review so here's a new one…read more first of all i am honored to receive the famous "hope u heal" line u reserve for all ur bad reviews. i also want to say that although i do think Ariana's read on the situation was spot on and perfectly articulated, i had absolutely nothing to do with it. she is a complete stranger. if i were recruiting people to leave bad reviews, u would have more than just one couple things in response to ur last message: - a haircut this bad should be obvious to someone claiming to be a professional. - I dont think being a loyal customer entitles me to a refund, i think a bad haircut does. - i only mention being a recurring customer to emphasize 2 things-- the way you treat loyal clients with a **good track record**, and lost revenue for a business who *themselves* stated cannot afford a refund. - I was very careful to specifically not use the word shelf and that was intentional. - Ive had big short hair, i've had two wolf cuts, & i know how to style it. I would never request a jelly or anything resembling one. ever. (not that that's what this is) - I didn't request a blow-out. I was OFFERED one. Maybe it's not something y'all should offer in the first place if u will blame clients for accepting and use it to deny refund. - I wasn't shown the back of my hair, esp. not in final form. being in front of mirrors does not change that. this is low IQ. - yes of course y'all are bffs & will back each other up. Still think dallan would've handled it better. - I nearly accepted ur "resolution" bc u gave me no other option and i was genuinely trying to work with you. but ultimately, like i tried explaining on the phone, it would not have actually solved anything. simple as that. - yes actually... I did leave satisfied.. bc I didn't notice? and it's almost as if... that's the whole issue ???? hello ?? i want to make it clear that although i was preparing for a chargeback, i remained very polite and still tried my best to resolve this directly with the salon. i even tried to meet her halfway by suggesting a partial refund but she was not making the same effort, and became progressively rude. It's clear we're operating from fundamentally different premises. maybe that's the root of the problem here. Your position is that there's nothing wrong with the haircut itself and that I don't know how to style it. ok, I'll bite. for the sake of argument, let's assume that's true.... It doesn't change the fact that this is objectively not the haircut I asked for or agreed to receive. on that basis alone, I am owed a refund due to service not as described. it doesn't matter if u think u can "make it better". improving something bad doesn't make it good, just makes it less bad. if you had any ground (or documentation) to stand on, u wouldnt have lost the case. Policy is not law. There must be exceptions for certain cases when mistakes are made. and you need to have discernment to know the difference from when someone's abusing the system. but that requires competency (in your field and in life), humility, and good faith. when a customer has been wronged, the burden should never fall on them to figure out a resolution that works for the business. It should be the other way around. why do i even have to explain this. If I were in your position, I would be mortified to hear a customer had this experience. my priority would be to understand what would make the situation right for them and do everything reasonably possible to make that happen. I personally would have offered a refund AND an adjustment. But ironically, that means taking accountability... fortunately for all of us, u have proven it yourself that you have never been capable of this (just a quick search to see how you respond to every bad review on here and Google) and to assume premeditation/malice is a really disappointing take on this situation and makes zero sense. why or how on earth would i plan to have a bad haircut? but if that's what were doing, i can do the same.... maybe you offer blow-outs for plausible deniability on haircuts gone wrong? maybe i wasn't shown the back on purpose so i wouldn't notice? i agree there are no winners or losers here, because at the end of the day i'd rather have my hair than a refund. but because i was so polite throughout the situation, you took advantage and at the end basically shoo'd me away & expected no consequence. the last text message you sent me speaks for itself. even a stranger was upset for me. by the way... I reiterated the points we spoke about via email over the phone, not to rehash anything, but to have it all in writing for the case. i've attached photos of my original review from Google, KJ's response from Yelp, and Ariana's review as well because it tickles me and they threatened to take it dow.

I booked a manicure and pedicure and asked in advance how long the appointment would take because I had a medical appointment afterward. She told me it would take three hours, but after nearly five hours, my nails still weren't finished no polish or design so we agreed I'd come back the next day to finish. I still paid the full amount (over $150) because I trusted her and wanted to show good faith. However, she didn't respond to me the next day as agreed, and I didn't hear back from her all weekend. When she finally reached out at the end of the weekend, she said she had lost her phone, but instead of scheduling me for that Monday, she told me I'd have to wait an entire week. I had a medical emergency come up that week (which I had already told her about before even booking), and unfortunately had to cancel. When I reached out again to try and reschedule, she said she wouldn't be redoing the service and that she "doesn't do free work" even though the service was never finished in the first place. The only "solution" offered was to take off the price of a nail art design next time, even though she previously told me she doesn't charge extra for that anyway. She also tried to say the reason the appointment took so long was because I didn't know what nail design I wanted, but that's simply not true. I picked my design while she was still filing and prepping my nails, before she was even finished with that step. It felt like she was using that as an excuse to shift the blame for poor time management. In the end, I paid over $150 and walked away with incomplete work and a lot of frustration. I value small businesses, but I also value honesty and professionalism. I showed up respectfully and in good faith, but unfortunately I wouldn't book w Bailey again based on how this was handled. Especially, when I go out of my way to tip +15-25$ after every service!
