Went in at 4:50 PM yesterday (a Monday) to get my hair cut, and the hours on the door say they close at 7 PM on Mondays. When I walked in, there were 2 customers currently sitting in the chairs, as in not waiting on the couch. As in they were being helped. No one waiting on the couches/benches inside. 3 employees total, two of which were working and one of which was standing around talking story behind the register with her back to the register and door. When she heard the door close (no bell/tone btw) behind me, it alerted her someone was there and she turned and asked if I had an appointment. I said no, because I didn't and they didn't seem busy. She said they were "booked solid" until close.
Let me say that again: The older, graying white lady that worked there said they were "booked solid until close". Remember that, I'll get back to it.
As I said, there were zero people waiting in the waiting area or on the couches/benches or anywhere else inside. 2 employees working, and the old hag that told me they were "booked solid" was just standing around talking. Yeah, real busy. Hopping. Jumping even. LEAPING. So busy she was standing around when I needed about a 5-10 minute buzz-and-go, no shampoo or anything. OK.
So I said I'd go somewhere else and when I got to Walmart (my next errand) I got to thinking about how dead it was in there, yet supposedly they were "booked solid until close". Remember I said I was gonna get back to that? Yeah, here it is: I checked the Supercuts app for this location (the only one in Kona now by the way) and took a look at the wait time. If they were "booked solid until close" why did the wait time literally say 0 minutes?!
I even booked an appointment and went in and actually got my hair cut, but I had to do it in the most roundabout, messed up way possible. I know they can do walk-ins too, I've seen and done it before.
Don't lie to your customers if you want to keep them. Speaking of, I won't ever be back now. I don't appreciate being lied to and treated like garbage simply because my hair got a bit longer than I meant it to, thus making me look a tiny bit more scruffy than you wanted to deal with right before going home. I didn't see her when I returned, by the way, so I'm guessing her shift ended at 5 because my appointment was at 5:20 (hence how I knew what time it was when I got there, it was 4:59 when I booked the appointment in the Walmart parking lot). I get wanting to go home early/on time, but you don't lie to customers to do so. I know I never have.
The price is a bit high too, I paid over $30 for a simple buzzed fade with no shampoo or any other extras or bells and whistles, just a simple cut. Wasn't even offered a hot towel or anything else and that was $30? I dunno, just seems a bit pricey to me. At least this time they did a good job, nothing I had to fix when I got home for once. read more
