I have been going to Supercuts, in R Elmwood Park, New Jersey for four years now. The stylist I see, is Heather. She is professional snd upbeat always. She listens to the clients needs, and will explain if a style or color will not look good on you due to hair texture, age, opposed to just cutting like many stylus might do elsewhere. Even with Covid, I feel very comfortable in the salon. They are taking the necessary precautions to make sure the clients and stylist remain safe. if anyone is ever looking for a stylist, you should ask for Heather. read more

My first experience here was awesome. I had long hair and I asked to have it cut very short. I loved the style of the haircut and the side swept bangs. When I returned a little over a month later, I asked the same stylist for a trim. However, I still can't wrap my head around what happened other than this being an honest mistake. They completed my haircut and I was satisfied. When it was time to trim my bangs, they asked me up to where I wanted them to be cut. I used my fingers to show I wanted them down to my eyebrows. I don't know what happened next, but my bangs were cut shorter than I have ever had them cut before. I couldn't even give this feedback in person because...what...just...happened? It's been weeks and my bangs don't look that much longer and they definitely don't look any better. I reached out to customer service, but I only received a partial refund for the bangs? This has been an awful couple of weeks. I've been wearing hats or just keeping my bangs pinned back (which is difficult since they're so short and they just look "fuzzy" when I try to hold them back with a bobby pin). Overall, I'm just upset my hair still looks this way. I think the stylist simply made a mistake, but I'm the one walking around with it. read more

Okay, so I'll start by saying that this is a VERY late review so it will be a little lengthy. POINT: be careful who you trust to do your hair! Not all hair stylists are the same. I have gone here numerous times and have had a different experience every time. I make it a point to try and find one hair stylist and stick with them but they are rare to come by. I have only had 2 people here that I can trust entirely with my hair. I have probably a 3B-3C hair type, so it's pretty curly. I took me a long time to be able to handle it on my own but even before then, it was still always very curly and very thick. So my first memorable POSITIVE experience was when I met one if their stylists, Donna (I could be wrong, it's been some time, it might be Diane or something), anyway she knew how to handle my hair. If you have curly hair you know those people are holy grails. Unfortunately, she was transferred so I had to deal with a new person. The next 3 people I had cut my hair (FOR A TRIM), this included the general manager or supervisor at the store(her name is Heather and she will be brought up again), and each time my hair was either left with dead ends still, uneven, or extremely short even with a dry cut. Then they had another holy grail stylist. He was fantastic! He was the first time I saw anyone pull sections of my hair all around my hair to make sure everything was even. Once again, the holy grail had left the store. Next, I didn't even bother with a trim, I learned my lesson. Now, I know this experience is not entirely their fault, hence the 2 stars, but it was still pretty bad and lead me to actually just cut all my hair off and regrow it out healthier. I had just gotten out of the military. My hair and scalp were already suffering, my fault, but I was in the process of trying to fix it. Now I went to the salon with already bleached pieces of hair dyed blue. Most of it had faded out and I wanted to try and dye my whole head red. Something I'd rather have someone who went to school instead of a box dye. So I went in and the girl handling my hair had very bright red hair and educated me on the process and explained that there may be difficulties because of the blue but she would try. I was fine with this, I didnt even care that some of the blue pieces were this weird green after. She told me to come back in a week and we can try to add more red again. I did, and I told her if we can't those spots it's fine, it doesnt bother me. Once she was done and rinsed it out, parts were still not really red. It was a bit of an uneven dye job. I wasnt bothered, I understood the difficulty and the girl did what she could without destroying my hair. Then the problem came. The manager, Heather, decided to butt. Now, I already didnt like her and had stopped having her touch my hair because she wanted to argue with me on how to handle my hair and push chemical filled products, which I have tried and have made my hair fall out. I've had other issues with her and have seen and heard of her being an issue with other clients as well. I also didn't appreciate how she spoke to some of the employees either. Heather had been hovering over this girl doing my hair making comments and adding her two cents on my hair. When she saw that parts were not red, against my protests, she decided to take over. I said I was fine with it and I still like what the girl did but she wanted it red and even. I get it, she wants me to have an even color. But I said it was fine. I was ushered back to the chair after we washed the excess product out so she could apply MORE color. If you know anything about hair, especially curly hair, this could cause damage. Now, I didnt know how bad until after the fact but we'll get to that. The whole week I have had a burning and itching scalp. To the point that I had to get out of bed at 12am or 1am to wash my scalp that I had been rubbing and scratching to the point in was bleeding. I have a tool to help exfoliate and scrub my scalp in the shower so I used that with my husbands medicated scalp shampoo. Cutting my hair is a big deal for me. So to come to that as a solution was difficult. But I couldn't handle it anymore. I shouldn't be bleeding and the amount of hair falling out was horrible. Because of this experience that I'm sure would not have been this bad had Heather not interfered, I would maybe consider going back for a trim while I grown my hair back. But I won't do it to myself. I won't tell you to not go here, but please be cautious (especially if you have curly hair) who you trust to do your hair. I know it's easier said than done but it's such a serious thing for me at least. There are good people at this location and good people can be transferred through here. Not every hairstylists knows how to do all hair types, regardless of their job title. And stand your ground and not make my mistake. Good luck! read more

I'm not big on social media but I felt compelled to warn: Do not go here if you have long hair and want to keep it. I'm really upset. I had a very young girl, 22 years old, that truly took her liberty with cutting layers, 6 to 8 inches off one of my layers. I said long layers and she cut short layers, in a jagged way, honestly I dont know what she did. It's so much shorter than I'd ever cut it. And not my style at all. I was in SHOCK while I paid, I was not seeing clearly because I couldn't believe it. My hair was about to my waist, she butchered it. Like she had a vendetta on long nice hair. Never again. What a waste. Even if I complained what can they do..fix it?! My daughter was with me and I did not want to bug out when it isn't easy to get her to cut her hair. I wanted to get out of there. My daughter's hair came out lovely from the other women. Maybe ask for the older women there to cut your hair. Heather seems good. I made a huge mistake!! Truly. Edit: I was refunded. Terrible service! The people were rude, especially Veronica. Ended up just walking out. Because of all the attitude Veronica gave. Came in asking kindly for a haircut and blow she gave an excuse that a lady was coming and then she would take me. Then after waiting for half an hour, about 5 men came in and she proceed to take the men. While I'm still waiting, when I called her out she was exceptionally rude and disgusting. I have been going to Supercuts on Market st, Elmwood Park for approximately 2 years. I could not be happier. They listened intently to what I wished done, worked around my physical limitations (cervical herniated disc so difficult to turn or lower head, etc.) and never hurried or cut corners (no pun intended). when I heard today that the stylist I'd been using had been promoted to another location I paniced! But today starting blind with someone new...once again I couldn't be happier. The waiting time has always been close to 0. This place has good hairdressers. The only person you don't want to do any business with is the manager of the store Veronica. She is by far the rudest person I have ever encountered. She is rude to her employees as well as customers. She will also talk behind people's backs in Spanish so you don't understand what she's saying. I will never go to another supercuts again knowing that this is the kind of staff they hire for their management team. What a joke! That lady needs to be fired immediately to boost the company's image. At this point, I'd rather go to a mom and pop shop than to deal with that person. read more

When entering the woman with the short black hair and bangs with glasses didn't know how to do an a line bob for my daughter. Which I showed her is on their website. She then said she would try but didn't feel comfortable. She asked another woman there two times if she would do it but the woman kept reading her magazine ignoring her. Finally I said either you can or you can't and there is no trying. As I was about to walk out the woman reading the magazine gets up and says she will do it. The ONLY reason this location gets my best review is due to their ONE SINGLE hair dresser names DANA!! She is the ONLY one who knows what she is doing and the only one who i fully trust to cut my hair. She has a line of people waiting for her because she is that good. Very unprofessional place. My boyfriend and I just got back from our haircuts here and while my experience was great, his was a nightmare. Before his haircut began he explicitly told the lady, i believe her name was mariah, he has psoraiasis all over his scalp. She then proceeded to cut his hair when she started to see the psiriasis and started saying some unnecessary remarks. She kept saying how she didnt want to cut his hair anymore, how bad his psoriasis is, and during the whole session she had a face of disgust. Not only did she kept saying how awful it looked but started showing the person next to her, it was completely humiliating and so very awkward. Ive gone here multiple times and have never been so displeased with a person. If youre reading this dont bother going here. read more

Jeanne from the Elmwood Park, NJ location rushed me out because it was closed to 7:00 on a Saturday and she had 3 other customers coming in, needless to say my haircut was horrible, and she suggested for me to stop by the next day for her to cut it shorter.....Why would I want to come back again and paid twice because she was in a rush the first time? totally unacceptable. if you want a dollar store haircut, this is the place. it's like getting a filet mignon at mcdonalds! they butchered my hair to the point where i had to tell the "hair stylist" to stop and step away from my hair. tiffany, the regional manager wasn't apologetic either and thinks giving a bottle of shampoo and conditioner will fix a horribly botched haircut. the district manager, peter, just sucks at life. he didn't even want to hear me out it seemed liked it. supercuts in general sucks. regis corporation, the parent company sucks just as much. if you want a cut from helen keller, go to this place. otherwise, go to a reputable real salon that will give you the cut YOU want. read more
