I wouldn't say the menu is authentically American (it takes a bit more than burgers and sundaes to pretend to be an American restaurant in my opinion) but the depaysement is there: it feels like one is taking a trip both geographically and back in time. I have not tried their food menu yet as i just came for coffee and dessert so I will update my review accordingly once I try one if their burger (maybe the humongous one!) Bonus: here you can choose how you'd like your burger cooked (rare, medium, etc...).

The menu is bilingual. I had no problem ordering in French when I knew what I wanted. The waitstaff and owner were friendly and tried to switch to English when my French ran out. It is called a wine bar, but Americans would just think of it as a restaurant. my delicious main course was a local specialty, "brandade" made with cod, puréed then baked. they have a good variety of dishes, for starters mains and desserts. Customers sit very close to each other. Perhaps it's the shape of the roof, but it is very loud inside. And there's not even any music playing. Just all the voices. It was nice to be greeted by the owner (so he seemed to me) who then also helped us translate the specials of the day. He seemed a bit rushed though. We never spoke to him again. At least 3 other waiters served us after that. Each one interrupting out conversation by asking what was for who. Admittedly, many restaurants are like this, but there is no reason for this if the person who took the order brings it out too. The food tasted above average good. They seem to do really good desserts. I will not go here again. But just because 'there is better', not because it is a bad restaurant.
