We recently stayed at the Olde Lantern Inn as part of a weekend 'stay-cation'. We weren't really…read moresure what to expect, never having stayed at a B&B before but were extremely happy with our experience. The inn has 5 different rooms as well as a welcoming common room, several areas to relax outside, and a breakfast area that accommodates both couples and larger groups. While encouraging guests to interact with elements like the outdoor fire pit, we still found we also had plenty of privacy when we wanted it. We stayed upstairs in the Marchel Foch room which consisted of an extremely comfortable four post bed, a fire place and reading area, a window nook with a gorgeous view of the vineyard and a bathroom equipped with a large Jacuzzi tub. The rooms are a perfect mix of cozy charm (beautiful hand crafted furniture, vaulted wood ceilings) and modern convenience (remote controlled air conditioning, tv and dvd player as well as a selection of movies). Breakfast was served a little earlier than we would maybe have preferred (between 730 and 830) but the food itself was fantastic! I really enjoyed meeting some of the other guests and hearing everyone's travel stories (Al, the owner of the Inn had seemingly countless travel experiences and stories to recount. An incredibly interesting man for sure!) We also took advantage of the close proximity to the Grand Pre winery (literally a few steps through the back vineyard) and went on their wine tour and tasting. Our guide (Katherine) was fantastic giving us lots of information and answering all of our questions while keeping it very light and fun. We were happy to learn that she also works at the Inn and would be the one cooking us breakfast in the morning :) I would definitely recommend the Olde Lantern to anyone looking for a relaxing and personal wine getaway in the valley. I can see how this place would be especially fun for several couples travelling together (something I think we will keep in mind for our next visit).

They had a detailed Covid plan in place. The breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend. Will go back.

We had stayed here 6 years ago and loved it. The inn itself is nice, but has badly deteriorated…read more Our room, while bright and nice looking at first glance, was filthy. First step into the bathroom, there was a plastic champagne glass on the floor. Towels clean but old and threadbare. Tub and sink were clean. Area rugs and floors were filthy, looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in ages. Dust everywhere, cobwebs in corners and closets. Sheets appeared to be dirty, and very old at least. The caretaker was nice, but at no time did we hear or see him cleaning. The bathroom in the main entry area was filthy--sink almost brown it was so dirty, mirror had old water/splash marks all over it, nothing was clean. Breakfast was included but we skipped it. Even the automatic coffee maker was so dirty, it had layers of dried coffee all over it. The whole dining area was dirty--side table, dining tables had dirty table cloths over them. No way we were eating there. Do not recommend.

This is the second time we have enjoyed the marvelous architectural delight of the Victoria's…read moreHistoric Inn. The best part of a stay here is to step (literally) into a world that no longer exists - and when it did exist - it was beyond my socio-economic situation. Every corner of the beautiful house is detailed with loving care - the molding, the drapes, the furniture, the staircase and of course the stained glass window! It moves you to a different time and place. What a treat!!! The staff are fabulous - taking on whatever role is appropriate for our needs from taking reservations, welcoming guests, to pouring that lovely third cup of coffee at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, you might want to start exercising your pinky finger now so as to get it pointed properly straight out from the coffee cup handle - if you want to fully indulge in the environment. China, table cloths, attentive waitresses - all add up to one of the most special B&B experiences anywhere. It is not stuffy. In fact it is very relaxed - it is just that one can enjoy a good stuffy moment or two if one wishes to stare down your nose at the peasantry walking by the window:-) All part of the fun this setting encourages. The rooms are OK in size - more typical of the period that the house was built. They just border on the feeling of old style cluttered with lovely furniture such as a four-poster bed. The bed was fantastic! The in room fireplace and Jacuzzi tub will have to be enjoyed more fully this coming winter. What else to mention - oh yes - the grounds are beautiful with lawn chairs strategically placed for a guest and a book midst the shrubbery and flowers. I love this place for relaxation and imagination at its best.

What a great place to stay and brunch!…read more It is a lovely old house on the main street of Lunenburg. It has a fantastic balance of old and new: - lovely antique furniture, floor coverings, exquisite old light fixtures, etc. - exercise room, high speed internet, business centre, flat screen TV + DVD player in the room. We were blown away by the small touches as the modern stemware in the rooms, updated bathrooms and complementary chocolates on the bed. The bed was a dream to sleep on, once the pillows were cleared and stacked in the corner:-) Nice light cozy comforter on the bed. Now for breakfast - simply fantastic! Cold buffet with solomon gundy, smoked salmon, cheeses, etc.. A bread stack that included fresh from the oven croissants. We went with the a la carte eggs benedict - and don't let them give you the back bacon - go for the smoked salmon option - yummmmmm!!! We will definitely be going back. The question is only whether it will be another mid-winter, off season fantastically priced get-away or a full priced mid-summer Lunenburg folk festival week? Not to be missed!

The beds were very comfortable and they even included complementary chocolates which were a nice treat. There were two TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living area. They also had a fireplace in the bedroom and in the living area as well as a stereo alarm clock. We went to the continental breakfast in the morning which we really enjoyed. There was a nice selection of simple breakfast foods such as smoked salmon, cheese, toast with jams, muffins etc. You should definitely check this place out if you're looking to stay in Lunenburg.
