Cool picture of the Manistee lighthouse over the bed.

Telephones and toilets The Super Eight Motel in the town of Manistee is a decent, clean, safe and convenient place to stay. Just an ordinary motel with nothing special but at least you won't get eaten by bugs, attacked and murdered or catch some communicable disease. For some reason we ended up with a handicapped accessible room and got a weird shower that had two spray heads and a toilet with a phone right by it. Never seen that before but it was kind of cool. And the sink was outside the bathroom in the bedroom. With didn't get to use the phone while in the crapper but everything else was nice, quiet and comfortable. Not a fancy place but a decent and cheap place to spent a few nights.

The beach and two beautiful lighthouses were a few minutes away.

For a 2 star hotel this was extremely clean and had a new feeling about it. The rooms were decently sized and had very helpful staff!

Not a bad place to stay. Clean rooms only problem was the other people staying here don't know how to hold doors so they don't slam shut.

We had a wonderful queen room that looked out over the side Street so we could see our motorcycle parked below. It was the Fourth of July and we kind of worried that someone might mess with my husband's Harley. OK, he worried about that LOL. We rolled into town late afternoon after a 7 hour ride, it was super hot, and we were so happy to get into our nice cool, clean room with bottled water and refrigerator where we could stash some beer. Stephanie had called and left a message on the way letting us know that no one would be there to check is in and how to access our room. It was super easy, and we appreciated the social distancing. People in town we're wearing masks outside and restaurants were open & the people in the restaurants working there were wearing masks. All in all, I feel like Michigan felt really safe for someone like me who has an auto immune disease and so therefore needs to be more careful than regular folks. But I think everybody needs to be careful now, let's be real. The Ramsdell Inn is in an old bank, very cool building with a lot of history. The room we had was decorated to reflect the era, our bed was a big wooden one, with fresh clean linens and plenty of pillows. We also had a very striking fireplace that we obviously would never use in July but it was it was cool. We were up and out the door by 7 AM to catch the ferry back to Milwaukee So we appreciated the granola and kind bars that were left in our room for us. We really weren't in this lovely inn or the town for very long but we loved it. And we will be back.

The Dempsey Manor didn't have any vacancy for that night, but the Ramsdell did and I'm so glad! It was really nice to just walk over to the nearby antique shops, and then after a movie at the Vogue just a step back down the sidewalk to go to bed. Enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning in this little tower-nook. So novel!

The staff were all friendly and made our experience that much better. The room we stayed in had 2 queen size beds, I didn't love the sheets but you can't be too picky with that at hotels. This hotel is fairy new, so the wear and tear of time hasn't had any impact on the hotel. Being so close to the beach was also another positive factor of this Hampton.

We had a king balcony room on the top floor. Our balcony didn't feel the most secure, so I never really spent time on it, but my husband enjoyed it. The hotel was so close to the public beach and even had its own mini beach with sand near the outside bar. We were really impressed with the beach bar and the homemade sandwiches! The biggest disappointed was for the money we spent for the long weekend, we were not treated as a priority. Early on during our stay, our first full day, I accidentally broke a bottle of wine (fell right out of the fridge!). My husband had been contacting a rep from the hotel via text, as he's a honors member. He let them know about the broken glass, and asked if someone could come and pick up. After acknowledgement from the staff we came back 6+ hours later and it still wasn't cleaned and all the cleaning staff had left for the day and a very disgruntled employee was asked to tackle it. She clearly did want to help, and didn't. She never came back to the room. It took until the next day for someone to clean the broken glass from our room. Talk about safety hazard! Would I stay again? Maybe. The location is what is so great, but for the price I might try to stay in a higher end hotel. The staff really need to be trained in customer service. Every guests seemed to be an inconvenience.

I happened to stay right after the summer rush ended, so I was one of only a few guests staying at the motel. Check-in was fairly simple, and I was shocked at how they still do most of their business without computers. Computers or not, they were friendly and very efficient. The location is absolutely perfect, as its right at lighthouse park at the mouth of the Manistee river at Lake Michigan - beaches galore at your fingertips...toe-tips My room was small, and had a queen bed. All was clean and absent of any sort of bad odors and stains. Everything was outdated, but in a delicious, kitschy way. The view out of my room was amazing, and there were plenty of chairs and tables available for enjoying the view from your front porch. They provided free Wi-Fi, and firewood for a bonfire we had one of our nights there. We were provided with minimal toiletries, so definitely bring your own. You'll also find barbecues and pretty much anything you need to enjoy a vacation on the beach. I highly recommend this place if you're on a budget, or if you're low-maintenance and value a beautiful view over luxurious accommodations.

Recently we booked a room here for two nights prior to our stay at a cottage we were renting in Onekama. The Casino nearby had rooms that were 2 x what we paid to stay here. The location is close to downtown Manistee (including Lake Michigan beaches, etc.) The staff is professional and friendly. Very soon there will be a Starbucks adjacent to the parking lot. While the timing was inconvenient, the larger concern was the staff's complete lack of empathy regarding the disruption and the effort involved in relocating all of our belongings, including clearing out the kitchen and food items. I requested a refund for the remaining nights so we could move to another hotel, which required approval from the property since the reservation was made through a third-party booking service. Although staff verbally stated they were willing to accommodate this, they repeatedly refused to answer the calls needed to authorize the refund. This lack of cooperation made an already stressful situation unnecessarily difficult.

The service was very good and friendly. They have a complimentary breakfast that is cooked in the onsite restaurant, Oli appreciate that. Sadly I didn't try it because of plans, but still good on them. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. Compared to a Hotel/Motel for a smaller town and the issues being so minor, I'm going to round up. It's an older hotel and looks its age. The carpet was awful and definitely needs an upgrade. The hotel is multi-storied without an elevator. We asked about a luggage cart but they don't have any. We had a mixup about our rate, which admittedly was my fault, but the front desk staff were very unhelpful in trying to solve this. We asked for an extra pillow which was never delivered. Upon opening the door this morning it was in the floor in front of our door. The person who delivered it didn't bother to knock and let us know. I would not have used it anyway since it had been on disgusting carpet. So spend a few bucks more & find a more decent place to stay in Manistee.
