I'm local. Live in the same town where this Super 8 is located.
I needed a 1-night accommodation because my home was without power, and we were supposed to have an ice storm and colder temperatures.
I called around and while this motel wasn't the cheapest, it wasn't the most expensive either. I asked about a senior discount and received a small amount off the cost.
I was greeted nicely when arriving. Treated very respectfully, and was given a room on the first floor which I wanted but didn't have to ask for.
The room was good sized, King bed, desk, TV, internet, iron and ironing board, vanity space and a bathroom, microwave and fridge.
The room was clean, as were the tables, desk, bed, bathroom, fridge, microwave and vanity area.
The rug is older but not worn out. Sheets, comforter and pillows were clean too.
I had a restful sleep and that's saying something for me. Usually, I have a difficult time sleeping anywhere other than my own home. It was not noisy, which I was pleasantly surprised about.
The Continental Breakfast was fine. Coffee w/ individual creamers, sugar or sugar substitute, 2 different kinds of juice (oj or apple), white or wheat bread available for toast w/ butter and 2 different selections of individual servings of jelly. Fresh fruit- bananas, apples, oranges. 2 selections of cereal- Raisin Bran or Frosted Flakes and a pitcher of milk. There were also waffles available for guests to make (I did not have any, so I can't vouch for flavor or ease of preparation), but it was nice to have the option.
The breakfast area was clean and there were no dirty tables. Plenty of cups and plates and plastic wear so no one would have to ask for anything. Just go in, make your breakfast and you're done.
All in all, this was a pretty nice experience.
There are only 2 things I would recommend
1- if staff/owners aren't going to wear a uniform, they might want to wear some kind of identification for their guests.
Perhaps a name tag with the Super 8 logo on it? It would be good for guests to be able to identify workers/owners.
And 2nd, perhaps a TV channel guide for patrons that aren't familiar with the cable service here. Makes it way easier to find local/favorite stations than scrolling through all the channels on the TV.
Thank you for providing a pretty nice, reasonably priced option for those needing somewhere to go when a situation arises.
UPDATE:
Oh, and shout out and THANK YOU to the young man who helped me get to my car. The ice was horrible, and he made sure I got in my car and everything was good.
I don't know his name, (this is where name tags would have come in handy), but definitely wanted to show my appreciation for his consideration!
