Neighborhoods in Plantation are characterized by leafy tree lined sidewalks and beautiful neighborhood parks like this one. Marcano Estates Park has a large open field for play, and a playground with climbing structures and swings. Part of the park is on a lake so parents need to keep an eye on the kids so they don't wander off. Paved pathways wind through the park. This is a great place to take the kids to play, have a picnic, walk the dog, or just enjoy being outside in the beautiful Florida spring weather. On the day I visited kids were enjoying the playground. It is nice to see families playing together and enjoying the parks with their kids.

The 10.55 acre Riverland Park is located in Ft. Lauderdale. Built in 1997 on the site of the former…read moreRoyal Plaza Mobile Home Park, it is just north of the Riverland Elementary School. The park is open every day from 6 AM until 9 PM. Park amenities include lighted athletic fields, basketball court, recreation center which can be rented, picnic tables and pavilions, grills, volleyball court, restrooms, playground, and exercise trail. As requested by the community during its conception phase, the park also has a pool and water playground which offers lap swims, movie nights, recreational swims, and water aerobics. In order to use the aquatic facilities you buy a pass from the city. A 30 visit resident pass is $75. Non residents pay more and there are discounts for seniors and military members. The city hosts events in the park including concert series. This park is also one of 12 in the city that has Club 55+,, offering programs for active adults to enjoy. After being stuck inside from the tropical storm I enjoyed getting out of the house when the weather finally cleared. I walked the exercise path that runs the perimeter of the park and admired the many beautiful trees in the park. Bring the kids out to enjoy the pool and playground, grill a meal, or enjoy a game of basketball and soccer. There is so much to do in this lovely park.

Right behind the benches is a a large gazebo that contains signs that relay the history of Margate. There was a homeless man sleeping inside so I didn't linger but from what I gathered this was the site for the office building of the founder of Margate, Jack Marquese. The name for the city came from the first three letters of Marquses last name mar and the gate part came because the town was considered the gateway to west Broward. The site of the park later became the first city hall. The building was demolished in 2005 and on February 7, 2007 the site was named Legacy Park and opened to the public. In addition to the swings and gazebo there is a boat ramp to put your water craft into the canal. A family of ducks looked to be quite at home here. At the entrance to the park is a wrought iron letter M that used to be part of the original gates to the entrance of Margate from 1955. It now sits in this park and marks the site of a city time capsule that will be opened when Margate turns 75 in 2030. This is a nice place to sit and relax by the water and to learn about the history of Margate.

The park typically has alot of ppl using it daily for various recreational activities. it features a soccer field, covered basketball courts, a playground, tennis courts, and a community center that hosts a lot of different youth programs and some adult programs as well. It seems that the city is also investing in various upgrades, memorials, as well as public arts project in the park. Overall positive experiences every time ive gone.

Mary Saunders Park was named in honor of a former West Park Mayor who served from 2008-2012. This spacious 4.5 acre neighborhood park has many amenities that include a softball/baseball field, football/soccer field, open area for play, tennis court, covered playground, and a popular covered basketball court. This park also has a public art work mural named Mecca by artist Charles E. Humes that represents the history, spirit, and cultural identity of the West Park community. Mary Saunders Park also offers programs that include tennis camp, summer camp, and an after school program. Fields, the tennis court, and the basketball court can be rented for private events. This park is a community focal point that is ideal for events, exercise, and outdoor recreation.

The couple was very active in the Coral Ridge community in which this park is located and they worked with several charities. A favorite cause was the Broward County Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. Harriet was predeceased by her husband Jack and she passed away in 2007. There isn't very much here. Park amenities include a fountain, open play space, and flag with memorial plaque. Although I wouldn't male a special trip out here I am a fan of open parks and nature. The only ones using the park on the day I visited was the squirrels. Still it is nice that this couple was honored with a park in the neighborhood they worked so hard for.

He was president of Cue Homes which was one of the original builders for Coral Ridge Communities. He is considered instrumental to the early development of Coral Springs. Richard D. Petrillo Park is a strip of land sandwiched between Maplewood Elementary School and the Coral Springs Improvement District which is a water utility company. At first glance it is just a field with some lovely Royal Poinciana Trees. I saw some people using the area to run their dogs. If you go to the back of the park there is a hidden fence that surrounds a radio controlled car racetrack. Unless you went down this small road you wouldn't even know it was there and I was not aware that Coral Springs had a RC track. It looks very cool. According to the race track website the track is open for practice on Saturdays and race day is Sunday. In order to use the track you need a R.O.A.R membership card that includes insurance. Rules for using the track and an events calendar is located on the Coral Springs RC Race Track website. It looks like a fun activity for the Coral Springs community.

They have a baseball field open to first come first serve although on Sunday its seems the adults own the field. A blacktop walking trail surrounds the grassy multi-use playing field. Picnic tables under a covered pavilion allow small bbq parties and kiddie events overlooking a tranquil lake. There is a decent adult fitness area with several gymnastic type equipment. The kiddie park near the entrance is large and has sufficient parking.

When it opened…read moreit was the first park near Weston and Bonaventure, paid for with city money, The park was named in honor of Oscar Wind, the developer who donated the land in 1983 when the city annexed the area. In 1993, six more acres were added to the park as was a new softball field, a soccer/football field and a new park shelter. Today the park is looking better than ever. A new playground and outdoor fitness court were unveiled last month which increased the fitness and play options in the City of Sunrise. The new playground is ADA accessible with a wheelchair entry. It now has more than a dozen play structures including slides, swings, climbers, and a merry go round. Elements were added to foster learning, inspire music, and provide tactile games. The playground is covered in shade canopies and new seating and landscaping were added. Also brand new at Oscar Wind Park is the first Fitness Court in the city and it is also shade covered like the playground. The Fitness Court has an app on the side that teaches you how to use it. You do a circuit of exercises using your own body weight in order to condition and strengthen during work outs. It can be modified for all fitness levels. Additional park features included an open green space with a new 1/2 mile walking path, new landscaping, renovations to the restroom and picnic pavilion, and new LED lighting. My favorite improvement is that there is now a connecting walkway between Oscar Wind Park and Sawgrass Sanctuary Park. I like that you can do a really long walking circuit around both parks and never have to go into the road. The two parks blend together seamlessly. With the new additions to Oscar Wind Park, I think this is the best place in the city to enjoy nature, take the kids to play, and exercise.

While this park may not have all of the amenities of the larger parks in the area it is still a great place to take a walk, play basketball, or simply relax with family and friends. Northgate Park has a two outdoor basketball courts, a half mile walking trail for a light stroll and exercise around the park, a shade covered playground with swings, slides, and climbing structures, two pavilions, grill, and restroom. The soft, grassy areas in the park provide plenty of space for families to relax or have a picnic. The park is generally clean and well-kept. The park staff does a good job of maintaining the grounds, ensuring that the grass is trimmed and the trash is picked up. During my visit a family was setting up for a birthday party. Northgate Neighborhood Park is a great spot for a casual gathering, small family outing, or a meet-up with friends.
