ATM is ALWAYS down. Turnover like crazy at this bank. You will never work with the same representative twice.

As they have grown over the years the client support has gotten worse and worse. During Covid the client support truly took a hit and I was understanding to that, but today there is no excuse in my book. Today specifically I called the E-BIZ business client support center and sat on hold for 5 minutes so I requested a call back. Its been almost two hours and I have still not received a return phone call. I have emailed CEO Schrider as well as Mr. Kitterman VP client experience manager and have not received a response. I am disgusted with the lack of client support and I am moving all of my personal and business banking needs to Capital One Bank in 2025.

You have to use their Mickey Mouse camera app making it almost impossible to properly focus and overly time consuming for a business. I recently attempted to deposit a $15,000.00 check into one of our accounts there. I received a notification the deposit was too large, $15,000.00 FOR A BUSINESS ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had to make the deposit into our personal account with another bank, AN ACCOUNTANT'S NIGHTMARE, and then write 2 checks into the Sandy Spring account. They both posted but we received only 1 e-mail confirmation. The app then went to a blank recent transaction screen and could not be moved. A call to customer service was fruitless and a waste of an additional hour. I WOULD RECOMMEND SETTING YOUR BUSINESS ON FIRE BEFORE ATTEMPTING BUSINESS BANKING WITH SANDY SPRING BANK. These amateurs didn't even have the courtesy to respond to my letter my mail or phone. They just left a message below for me to waste more time calling them. I REGRET EVER HEARING OF THESE LOSERS. BE FOREWARNED.

This review kinda hurts me to give because I have been with TD Bank for nearly a decade, have a…read moreblind loyalty to them because when I open an account with them, they were the only ones that welcomed me with open arms when every bank wouldn't get anywhere near me. Let's just say at that point of my life if someone ran my credit, they ran the risk of getting their computer repossessed. Since then a lot has changed for better, and banks lenders and creditors now beg me to use their lines of credit, and to be honest the change all started with opening this account with TD. Now this two star has nothing to do with the only branch...5 STARS alll day for the staff there, friendly, knowledgeable, and I always end up staying for an extra 10-15 minutes just chopping it up with them before I leave. So I wanted to make that very clear before I go onto my current experience which really surprises me. I understand that banks need to be precautious to protect themselves, us customers, and maintain a safe environment for transactions. So I am all about being thorough. With that being said I've always maintained a good standing with my accounts, which are two checking accounts, and a savings account, constantly moving money between all three of them, and mostly only depositing into one account and the living the money accordingly from there. So I deposited a mobile check for a decent amount that was given to me from a family member that is so graciously helping me with some major repairs to my work truck. Typically my funds are available the very next day, but for some reason they put a 6 business day hold. I get it, it's happened before, for whatever reason the algorithm either doesn't like something so it kicks it to a human. Now the process is this, per TD bank, you call customer service, they send you to the fraud department and then they due their diligence...I totally understand this, have gone through this process for whatever reason, maybe the check had some werid crease, it's a personal check from the bank of USSR ( joking, and if you don't get the joke you're probably a Gen z'er). In my case I think I thought it was one of two things, there's a new box to check if you do a mobile deposit that it totally missed and don't check off or it could've been because the person who wrote the check started to write the date like the whole rest of the world does by putting the day first then the month, then just put a "1" over the "3" which was for the 30th of October. Either way we can resolve this, the check was from HSBC written by a Doctor, who is highly ranked in the military (retired) and makes top tier money. Now to my experience... I call customer service, as always they are willing to help, I love that from TD especially if you call from the app. They transfer me to fraud, and in less than 45 seconds they ask me "tell me about this check" I'm honest and say it's for my truck I had my transmission rebuilt and it was given to me to help me get back to work (I'm in the trades my truck is my office and when calculated every day my truck is in operable it costs me $550). And then after about 5 seconds of silence she said "ok you'll get a secure message in your app within two hours and if the funds aren't released by end of business then they will be held for the full 8 days". At this point I know it's not getting released. This has happened to me before a couple times and every other time they say " Mr Leite your funds are released" so when I didn't hear that I was nervous. To make a long story short, for something that with a little diligence from the representative ( oh this was 7:15 in the morning and she sounded like she just woke up) and my complete willingness to verify to the fullest extent and at their disposal, I was not given that opportunity and now my funds are holding, I can't get my truck, and the shop is charging me a storage fee now of $100. I tried to escalate, and all they did was credit some stuff to my account. The supervisor really seemed like they wanted to help but here we still are There a lot of fraud these days and I'm all about protecting yourself and others, and everyone's explanation is "oh this randomly happens and can happen with any check" I'm like cool!!!! But put a freaking human on there who cares about doing their job right and making sure that us non-crooks don't have to suffer for all the fraudsters. For this TD I give you a 2 star...I'm taking my check to their proper institutions from now on to cash them, and I'll even pay the ridiculous fees at the liquor store. Thanks for letting me rant

When he came in, I walked in again to grab some extra money in hand and they acted like he was the problem. That young man was kind, used manners like he breaths and although he looked like he just got off work he smiled regardless of how he was treated. I got the opportunity to talk to that young man and he said they treat him like that all the time. If he needs help he knows he can't get help from them so he calls in. I thought that was odd. He told me more about his work in domestic violence. He gave me some insight and it made me check my accounts as well. Anywho, Poor customer service and the bank manager needs to be fired. This is my opinion.

I called the number and the customer service rep didn't know what I was talking about and said my account seemed fine and not to worry. Another few days couple of weeks passed and I received another letter from Sandy Spring Bank again telling me I needed to provide documents for the patriot act, again with no other information so this time I sent an email asking what it was I needed to provide and I did not receive a response. Another week went by and I got another letter from the bank telling me that my account was being closed because I did not provide the documentation. I called the bank and, after wasting a ridiculous amount of time on hold, I was finally told what I needed to provide. I sent in the documents online per their instructions But this point I was having a pretty bad taste in my mouth about the bank so I decided to close my account. I scheduled an appointment for today to close the account and was told by the person in the bank that I didn't need to come in and close it because my head a zero balance which I certainly did not have a zero and I told her this and she didn't know what happened. After she had to do research and call me back and told me that they had close my account because I did not provide the documents for the ridiculous patriot act, despite that I had indeed provided the documents. Scary to think that a bank this disorganized is actually in operation, while the customer service reps are polite they are in knowledgeable which results in a very poor customer service experience. Certainly nota place I'd want my money held.
