Although they do have a couple of good wines, most of their wines I find are either too sweet, or not up to par with other wineries around Wisconsin that I have tried. The last time we were there, there was a very small selection for the tastings that you could choose. It is changed a lot in the last few years. There are fewer wines to sample, and that's a bit disappointing. If you happen to like sweet wines, then I would suggest trying one of theirs. I think they do well with the sweet wines. It is just not something that I enjoy. And there used to be a place where you could sit next to the river and buy a bottle of wine and cheese and sit outside. Sadly, those days are gone because there's a restaurant there now. But I do believe they have a small spot on the parking lot side that you can sit at and enjoy.

They have a very large selection of cheeses from Wisconsin, the US, and abroad, with lots of unique offerings. We tried a chicken soup Monterrey jack and a mustard Gouda, both of which we really enjoyed. The chicken soup cheese actually tastes like chicken broth from a rich soup, which was definitely a new experience. The room is decorated and bright, and felt like a great spot to stop on a Saturday afternoon. It's a nice change of pace from the usually-crowded bars through downtown Cedarburg. You should be aware that the tasting room apparently can't serve charcuterie boards themselves because of the class of license (maybe no food service cert.) but they're happy to help you enjoy any of the cheeses you purchased in the store and offer you some wine(s) to accompany them. The bartender graciously offered us some crackers to go with the plate and we were able to put together a satisfying little wine tasting experience! The one thing I would like to see is a few more wines on offer for the wine flights; at the time, they were a bit heavy on sweet white wines, which is just not my taste but may be popular in the area. They also have a cocktail list, beers, and their own brand of several liquors, so there are plenty of options. We will be back for a nice afternoon glass of wine and some cheese. It's also a good source of reasonably priced cheeses and wine if you want to have a picnic at the parks nearby.

We started with a flight of old fashioned cocktails. We tried vanilla bean, honeycomb, and our favorite the cinnamon appke. For dinner we both had the Friday perch fry. My party of three ordered three flights of wine - dry, semi-sweet, and sweet. Each flight had five different varieties of wine and it only cost $5.00 per flight. You can also mix and match wines if you don't want to go with a predetermined list. For $7.00 they also offered a white cranberry and blueberry wine slushie. It was delicious. There isn't a lot of seating, so it's a good idea to bring your own chairs. They also don't offer any food, so a little picnic or charcuterie board would be fun. I'd highly recommend trying out Pieper Porch. It's such a unique experience and you really can't find anything else like this in the Waukesha area.

There is ample parking on site making this winery very accessible. We were treated by the friendly bartender who I believe is the owner. She explained their wines to us in just enough detail and walked us through how to make selections for a flight. I did the red flight and you got 4 wine samples for $12. Super affordable! We also ordered a large cheeseboard which was more than enough for two. There are pizzas and soft pretzels available at night on the weekends but since we were here on a Friday afternoon they weren't serving those yet. A lot of Wisconsin wineries do really well with sweet wines but don't have a large dry offering. My flight of 4 red wines was perfectly dry!
