Boater's Landing

What a fantastic, let me say again and shout FANTASTIC dealership…read more In honor of "people, process and product" this dealership is the epitome of professional people, a fair process (esp for out-of-towners new to the area), and product. People first: I was helping my brother-in-law (from SC) shop for a boat. I found Boater's Landing by chance using Boat Trader to come look at used boats for sale (a Trophy with a trolling motor in addition to the main engine, actually a pretty nice used boat but the owner was a little "too proud" of his nicely equipped boat). I had also Googled "Key West" unaware at the time that the boats are made in SC (more on the "product" later). Mark came up to us as we were looking at the used Bayliner Trophy and asked my brother-in-law (B-i-L) what he was looking for. Upon learning the requirements, Mark immediately said "you're looking at the wrong boat" and took us to another boat that was EXACTLY what my brother-in-law wanted. I was immediately impressed that someone could LISTEN to a customers "requirements" and detect the tone of feature emphasis in such a thorough manner. This used boat was fairly priced but ....a little too old. So my B-i-L asked to see what a new boat would look like in comparison. Now for the SECOND time in a row, Mark took us to EXACTLY what my B-i-L wanted. Voila.....behold the Key West 189 FS (FS for Family Sport). PROCESS: When it came time to discuss price and outfitting, Mark explained that the dealership "does not fool around" and that "we start out right" right off the bat. Sure enough, the price quoted (we'd already shopped at few other competitors and knew their pricing style) was extremely fair. Even after my B-i-L sealed the deal, I kept double checking prices and deals online and sure enough, we had been treated VERY FAIRLY. Let me hasten to add that if you are becoming a local boater in the MARVELOUS area of Fort Myers (Sanibel Island, Boca Grande Pass, wow...what a selection of waters to fish in for a "bay boat"), then you WANT a dealer that makes a fair profit so they can stay in business and keep GOOD PEOPLE. Thus, Boater's Landing has a fantastic shop and a very dedicated marine engine repairman (Peter) who like myself is retired military (him USAF, me USN). Peter was effusive as he bragged about his dealership and the high quality of the Key West boats and their Yamaha outboards. Because my B-i-L was going to store the boat in a boat lift on Pine Island, Boater's Landing would deliver the boat to his dock (there is a convenient boat ramp very close by) and come get it for maintenance and repair whenever needed. WHAT A DEAL: first pickup free and then $100 thereafter for a "there and back" pick up and redelivery. My B-i-L has operated heavy equipment professionally and values the merit of routine periodic maintenance and so this service saved him the expense of buying a trailer and the trouble of storing it empty. PRODUCT: We were delighted to discover that Key West is made in SC (at which everyone in Charleston knows is the place where the Ashley and Cooper Rivers JOIN to form the Atlantic Ocean) and their CEO, I say again THEIR CEO, has several YouTube videos showing off how they make the Key West (made in SC....go figure...it's the DESTINATIONS that drive us seaward, not the point of departure). Seriously people, check out those videos to watch professional craftsmen build a quality boat from start to finish. I hope I am able to post some pictures along with this review because I really want to demonstrate the credibility of this review. I am NOT related to anyone at Boater's Landing and this is a real experience (circa early June 2016). None other than John Paul Jones ("father of the Navy") taught us that "no meritorious act" should pass without verbal reward and Boater's Landing has EARNED high praise.

This is in response to Michael K. Sounds to me like you…read moredidn't do your research/homework on your purchase concerning the size motor that you purchased with your boat. Can't blame them for what you didn't do. Any time I make a purchase for that amount of money I usually spend time on forums seeing what other people have done. It's best to learn from their mistakes instead of making your own. No type of dealership is perfect whether it's cars, boats or motorcycles and Boater's Landing is no different. You should always do your research and be on your guard when you deal with salesmen that work on commission... Here is a photo of my boat that I purchased from them. It is also a Key West 239FS but it has a 300hp on it. It will do between 50-55 mph depending on water conditions and load.

They told me, It wasn't related to the accident. Well, not even the engines were fully repaired. I was overcharged for MISSCELANEOUS after the estimate was paid by the insurance. Btw I finished my engines job in other shop. totally disappointed !! The generator did not make it to the water, and on the trailer was not working already. They finally sent me a tech ( whom I found out went to generators school AFTER they had my boat for repair. After a day of work, he coun't fix it. They told me to go to an specialist ( what are they if they cant turn on a generator ?? ) . They did not advise or recommend a tech, but they charged me 4K ,,,,, "because we tried !! , so you need to pay " . Even if I go to a doctor if they cant do the job, I dont need to pay more than the cost of a new generator. ADRIAN is the manager , who cant fill the shoe and should step down from that position that is too big for him. But also the morality / ethics of the complete company leaves you perplex . OF course I declined to pay, but they threatened to put a lean on the boat baes on the small letter that says " you must pay even if we dont perform the job as promised " Be careful !, you will be sorry . I dont know the relationship with the insurance company, but the only one that ends up over paying and having a sour taste is you, There are many other companies way more ethical

This company actually picked up the phone and a friendly young lady (Anna I believe) answered all our questions. The price was far less. I operate on the wisdom of "You get what you pay for" but in this case, as it is rarely, sometimes you get MORE than you pay for! We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the boat and the ease of the entire process. The address is behind the Naples airport and most of the property is taken up with a 3-4 story giant warehouse style building (dry boat storage). Anna gave us the basics of operation and a laminated guide map with EZ directions. GPS and VHF radio, everything clean & new looking. We followed the numbered buoys out along the intercoaster waterways, passing gorgeous luxury mansions/homes and equally ridiculous money yachts. Great freedom ride. You can pull up to the public parking spot in Tin City and have lunch. We were a little bit unfamiliar with docking so we did not stop. Good business, good times. Highly recommend. You need to be somewhat familiar with boats and treat this as a nimble excursion, not one for the timid or weak core body as you need to be savvy and nimble getting on and off, plus heightened awareness of other boats, signs, buoys, channel markers, GPS etc. All good for anyone that practices wise & safe boating. Deducted 1 star for the lack of accessory facilities like food & drink options, so don't let that stop you, take a cooler!

After over $1,000 they still couldn't figure out how to turn on a GPS. Mechanics of the worse and Jeff and service department all he cares about is getting your money out of your pocket. Thanks Jeff
