Unbelievably unprofessional and shady operations. Incredibly rude and misleading business, a classic sign of crooks taking advantage of the system and people in tough situations. They should be absolutely ashamed. They created a mess and did not handle it well at all. I've never written a review about a place, but I felt so impelled to with this SNAFU.
This is what happened:
They mistook the identity of an inmate(mistakes happen, I get it), called my father to ask for bail and did not disclose verbally that the inmate in question was incarcerated in Miami. That, along with an incorrect birth date, and incorrect middle name, should have been plenty of evidence to let them know that they had the wrong guy. My father knows I am currently living in Oregon, so there would be no way I could be jailed in Miami. Nonetheless, they withheld that detail and pressured him to give them his credit card information and proceeded along despite his disbelief of the situation. That alone was enough to piss me off, knowing that they surely pull this type of shit all the time. Listen, I understand the bail bonds business is probably a tough one with many problematic clients, but it is no excuse for insisting on collecting a payment from the WRONG PERSON. Ultimately, they did not charge him anything of course, but that was only after they realized they had the wrong person and had already caused the distress to my father. The situation only got worse from there.
So, I call to get to the bottom of it all and to figure out how they acquired my father's contact information. They didn't give any answer and continually skirted around my questions, classic redirection, and they were well-practiced. They claimed that they receive limited information from a 'company' and it was part of their 'marketing' somehow. This is shady business practice, and it caused my dad some serious distress. They're lucky I don't have the time or money to investigate further and file a lawsuit, surely that's what they're banking on for all their dark business practices. I asked THREE times for the name of the clerk who I was speaking to (after she hung up on me to send me the inmate's information), and she skillfully tried to redirect the conversation, three times. She finally said her name was Eliza. She rudely hung up the phone on me multiple times when I was wanting to clarify the misunderstanding. How do they acquire the contact information of my father, when the inmate in question has no relation to any of us? That's all I wanted to know, and they unprofessionally handled the situation, hanging up on me and stating I was wasting their time.
I understand people make mistakes, but they should have seen the THREE clear signs that they had a mistaken identity and NOT pressured a worried father into providing credit card information. Also, when people call to gain understanding and clear up a mess that THEY started, it is unbelievably rude to tell them that 'You're wasting our time", and proceed to hang up on them. They wasted my time, and put my father in a tough situation that he did not fully comprehend and worried him greatly. My father thought he was speaking to someone at the POLICE department the entire time, which tells me they should also do a better job of disclosing exactly who they are so that people are not confused. They even were unclear with me as to who they were initially, withholding their names and business. If nothing else, they should do better and be professional, especially when they were at fault. This review could have been entirely avoided if they had the ability to be honest and forthcoming with information they were obviously trying to withhold.
