One of the most comforting thing about adopting from Ladew is knowing that they quarantine and check for things other shelters do not, such as ringworm. I had an experience in the past where the cats I took home had ringworm and the shelter didn't even know. Ladew is the exact opposite: they take every precaution and ensure a safe, smooth landing. Not only do they have a great regular adoption program, but their senior for seniors program is inspiring. They cover the medical costs of senior cats that are adopted by senior adults. I think every senior should have a senior cat at home, and with the biggest expense covered it's a no-brainer. All in all, I love the Ladew Foundation's mission and highly recommend them!

I love that they all have freedom to roam and play with each other in the large room within the shelter. While visiting, we were able to get a clear sense of each cat's personality by the way the interacted with each other and my partner and me. This little guy was the biggest mush, and we learned that Justine saved him and his siblings from near death by saving his mamma. She told us, "this guy has never had  bad day in his life." He actually called my references which is more than some jobs I've applied for. Martin knew his cats personalities and was able to recommend a cat with a temperament that we were looking for. He was also super generous throughout the whole adoption process. He delivered our 'Henry' to us personally and brought a huge bag of litter, dry food, and wet food to get us started. Henry is loving, sweet, and very gentle just like Martin told us he was. I would adopt from Martin again in a heartbeat. FYI - I'm posting this review in Sept 2019, but adopted Henry in Feb 2019.

This is one of the reasons why a lot of ppl choose to buy dogs because adoption discrimination happens with pets too. I was 100% truthful on the application & left nothing out. I met the dog I wanted & absolutely fell in love with her, but the whole time I got the sense this woman did not want me to have the dog. She mentioned all these things that it felt like she was trying to sway my desire to get a dog but I brushed it off & told myself she just really cares about these animals. I emailed Barbara Fox who apparently makes the final decision to let her know I was interested, 3 days went by & I heard nothing. It wasn't until I sent another email that I received a response saying many ppl were interested in the dog & they will make their decision soon. Only 10 minutes later I received another email (by mistake) from the foster Rhoda Glass assassinating my character. The woman completely lied about the interaction that happened in her tiny apt where she had 5 dogs including the dog I was interested in. These ppl can hide behind the excuse that they care about an animals welfare when in fact they're just bigots. *see email in pictures*

Somehow I couldn't find the previous reviews on Yelp, which I'm sure were there a year ago, so posted mine here. After the first meeting with Beatriz, we were very comfortable with her taking care of our kitty and home. She is reliable, animal loving and flexible. Whenever we're away, she and her partner- that we haven't met, so I'm mainly referring to Beatriz - take great care of our kitty and home, we come back to clean litter boxe, watered plants, every package indoors, a house that is kept secure and a happy kitty. Often our trips are scheduled with very short notice and over holidays, and we have always heard from Beatriz : yes, we can do. We get daily/bidaily texts or emails, often with photos or even a video(!!), whether it's a weekend trip or a 10 -12 day trip. She'll let us know about the kitty, the weather, how things went and keep us at ease to do what we need to do elsewhere without having to worry about our preciuos kitty. Their pricing is fair and they will come extra when we were stranded on a trip, as the other reviewer mentioned, so their main concern is for the animal, which is the most important thing for a pet owner! I recommend Beatriz and partner whole heartily ! Just a note about location, my profile mentions that I'm from San Francisco, CA , but we are in Westbury, NY for almost a year now..
