So, I got a new ride about a week and a half ago, and wanted to have the front two windows tinted since my last few cars have had it done and it makes a huge difference to me. I really didn't want anything tremendously dark, but enough to keep the sun out of my face and have some privacy. I scoured yelp and wanted a place that had really good ratings, from Yelpers that I knew, that wasn't too far away. I came across sunshade and realized it was only 4 miles from work, and contacted them directly. After some back and forth with one of the guys that works there, I realized texting was the best way to get ahold of this place, which I am fine with. I made an appointment for Friday, a week and a half in advance. They must be busy! I went there on my lunch hour to drop the car off and it wasn't really that hard to find. Walking in, the guys greeted me and I told them who I was and they brought me up on the computer. I saw the back work area where they work on the cars, and it huge! Also, looked very clean from where I was at. I was looking and saw some very expensive fancy cars in the work area being worked on. Impressive! The lobby area was a lot cleaner and nicer than I had expected! I went to the display and picked out a shade of tint since I didn't want anything to dark. He took me to a display to see what there was available and I picked out a shade that seemed decent. I admit, I probably could have gone darker, but I wasn't 100% sure. I didn't want it to be as dark as my back windows, but enough to knock out the sun in the summertime. I left after giving the guys my car keys and told them I would be back after work. I texted them at 4:45 and asked if the car was ready. They said yes. I told them that I would be there at 5:20 since I had to take an Uber to get from work to there. They said they would wait for me, which they did. I got there, and they let me in and my total bill was only $100. That's cheap! I was expecting it to be $200. I have had windows tinted before and that price is smoking awesome! My car looked amazing and I was thrilled! I would totally come back here as the guys here made it easy and painless. I lived out of state for 8 years and unfortunately had to get one car done by someone else. It was no where near the quality you get from SunShade. Just had my 3rd car done in the past 3 years and again comes out perfect every time! They are different!! Others use computer templates to try to cut and make the film fit what is supposed to be standard...not SunShade, they do it all by hand which is why it is always perfect to YOUR vehicle. This is my go to place each and every time. My first visit was in 2013. I had tint all around installed. The team was very professional and friendly. The atmosphere in shop is relaxing and CLEAN. I came back in 2019 for a repair on my rear window and it was totally covered due to a manufacturer defect on the tint. SunShade stood by their work (which was no fault of theirs). Now in 2020 I had to get the tint done again due to a cracked windshield. Their text system to book and confirm appointments is easy. And again their location is clean and relaxing. I'm not sure what to make of window tinting, especially living in a state where anything on the front windows is illegal. I try not to give the police reasons to pull me over. That being said when I bought my new car I saw a need to tint the car due to the fishbowl like styling. The tint turned out fantastic, they really did a great job. I have had my previous two cars tinted here. And I'm calling today to make an appointment for my new car. I searched online for a long time and it seemed that in south east Michigan, this is the place to go. So I made an appointment. I left my car there and was called back an hour and a half later saying my vehicle was done. The tint laid down perfect. VW's are notoriously difficult to tint because of the odd shaped rear windows and the massive amount of dot matrix they have but sunshade did a perfect job. I am extremely anal when it comes to my cars and I was very pleased with the results. A year later I called them again to have them tint my new vehicle. Had my VW Golf tinted here about a year ago. I had the tint removed from the entire car and had the back windows redone. The rear windows on this vehicle are difficult to tint due to the curved rear glass, but they did an excellent job and I see no defects so far. They guarantee the tint so you can return to have it redone if you see problems. They were friendly and provided good service in a timely fashion. The tint is pretty high quality as well as being a carbon based product, so it resists UV fading. read more

SunShade Window Tinting - Auto Glass Services Near Me - Troy, Michigan

I recently had my Audi A5 tinted at Sunshade in Troy. Just before my appointment, I read online that other owners of Audi A5's had the amplifier or other electronic modules shorted out after getting their tints. This was because excess water/solution would leak from the back window down inside the trunk panels where the amp and other modules were located. Some tint shops would not cover the cost for replacement and Audi would not cover this issue in their warranty. I read some people paid $1,800 to replace their amp! This had me very worried. It turns out the experienced guys at Sunshade were well aware of this issue and took all of the necessary precautions to protect the amp and other modules in the trunk. Prior to tinting, they accessed both panels in the trunk and stuffed them with towels to absorb any moisture to protect the electronics. Not to mention, all of the towels turned out dry after they were done. This shows they did not go overboard with the water/solution they use for the back window, plus they cleaned any of the excess of immediately after using the squeegee. To top it off, they are insured. So, just in case the amp did short their insurance would've covered it. This put me at ease completely. Another minor issue with my car is that the doors are frameless and when you open the door, the window goes down slightly and goes back up when you shut the door. This was no problem for these guys as they manually locked the windows during tinting and made sure the bottom edges of the newly installed tints were sealed and dried well to prevent any crumpling or bubbling from opening/closing the doors during the 2 day "don't roll down the windows" timeframe after tinting. At one point during my appointment, I was the only car there and all three guys (Darren, Jared and Eric) had a hand in tinting my car. They are very efficient, experienced and meticulous. If there was only one guy on the job, he used his LED flashlight behind the tinted glass to spot and correct any imperfections. If there was more than one person, one guy would be inside the car and the other on the outside pointing out where corrections needed to be made. These guys were very professional and worth every penny, especially since my car was known to have the amp/electronic issues when tinting. I knew two different guys that did tint work out of their garage for a fraction of the price as well as other tint shops that were also cheaper than Sunshade. But, the reviews I read online as well as these guys being in business for 20+ years made this an easy choice for me, especially with the known A5 issues. This was truly a case of "you get what you pay for" and definitely worth the few extra bucks. Saturdays were the only days I could get my car in so I waited/booked nearly a month for them. It was definitely worth the wait and I would give these guys 6 out of 5 stars if I could. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to tint their car, business or home. read more
