Very nice view but the food is not impressive! Liked their desserts though, and their teriyaki chicken. But steaks and fish were ok.

This morning, our group of 14 attended the $55 Sunday brunch, expecting Bloody Marys and Mimosas to be included based on the website. However, we were charged extra--despite no drink prices being listed. When we raised this with management, they refused any discount or future credit. My husband and I tried the weekend brunch buffet last weekend. I read the reviews before I got here, so my expectations were not high. And the experience definitely met my expectations. First, the setting is lovely, which is why I give this 3 stars. I would only come back for the setting. The food was fine, but also not worthy of a four star resort. Neither was the service, even though everyone was super friendly and helpful. First, we were seated at our outside table but no explanation of the buffet or what was available or how it worked. I wandered over to the buffet and was disappointed there was no waffle station as described on their website. The food spread was not too bad and I appreciated the different preparation of vegetables. There was an omelette station -- but really what the chef does is make a scramble at very high heat (which also left a slight taste of gas in the eggs) and then presses it down into an "omelette." They should just change it to a scramble station because if you really want an omelette that's not what you're going to get. There was no toast or bagel station which I think should be standard at a brunch buffet. I ordered toast from the server but never got it. Unfortunately the French toast was not that great. The custard did not soak through the bread all the way. So it was basically seared bread. There was a spread of desserts but not sure how fresh they were. I had an apple tart that was extremely cold. I think someone else mentioned in a review that they think the desserts were just thawed and I quite agree. The apple tart crust was soft and mushy. The carrot cake was good but also again extremely cold. I wish they were at room temperature. They also charged $5 a cup for coffee. I think coffee should be included with the buffet. I think I would only come back here for drinks and happy hour in the future because the setting is amazing! read more

We were staying at the hotel and thought we would just go downstairs to "stay in". We were so impressed - the food and wine was amazing. We got the scallops and charcuterie board. We had a beautiful view of the ocean. There was live music and the service was amazing! Outstanding evening read more

3.5 rounded up to be nice I came here for a weekend retreat and ate here for three of the meals. It was buffet style with several entree and side dish options. I thought the food could have been warmer in general. The cheese and fruit platters were really good and some of the dessert items, specially the caramel almond cake, was really delicious. The view was also beautiful throughout the day. We witness a wedding event here with live music. I thought the servers were a little aggressive in taking the plates right when we finished. Prob won't be back unless I stay at the hotel but really convenient if you are looking for some quick bites with a nice view! read more

Apalling food. Nice people, but terrible food. Buffet for breakfast and lunch. The quality of the food is what I'd expect from a summer camp or a cruise. Or a country club that's stuck in a time warp. Where someone tried to follow a recipe but the execution was poor and the taste was lacking. I can't believe this is food served at a resort. The food for dinner was horrible. I actually had to spit out part of my appetizer and couldn't eat the rest. There was something that resembled cioppino but the fish was cooked so it was super hard and the clams were stringy and tough, and the sauce was essentially tomato sauce. The rest of it was so bad I've blocked it from my memory. Even the salad was awful- overdressed and a bad melange of flavors. It's unfortunate that the dinner was so absolutely terrible. Please hire some decent chefs and line cooks to execute. This is food from the 80s. read more

Complete crap. Let's begin the disastrous review of this restaurant that you need to avoid. I've had better food and service from the free breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn. Not kidding. This place doesn't deserve 1 star but I have to give it something in order to complete this review. This is the only place to get a hot breakfast in the hotel. It's buffet only. You don't get water without getting up to get it yourself because of "the drought". Um, OK. I'm sure the 6 ounce glass that you use for water is going to push California's drought condition over the edge. Meanwhile, the shower head in the rooms pour out water like Niagara Falls. Still not sure why we had to get our water ourselves. Were the servers going to get parched by the walk across the room thereby requiring them to consume a lot of water?? On to the next thing... Cold food that wasn't even cooked thoroughly. Not only could they not cook it thoroughly, they couldn't keep up with the demand of the 25% full restaurant because there were no under-cooked hashbrowns available for 15 minutes. The entire pan sat empty for 15 minutes. I don't know what the 3 "waitresses" were doing while the food was running out because they weren't even serving anything but coffee (note my previous comment about getting up to get your own water). I guess it would be too much for them to tell the cooks that they needed to under-cook more food. We couldn't even have a decent table next to the window because the table was "only" for parties of 6 or more. We only had a party of 5. Meanwhile, that table and other tables that sat 6 - 10 people sat vacant the entire time because only a fraction of the place was full. Here's the deal: this place needs new management. The serving staff was very sweet but they were clueless and totally lacking direction and structure. Spend your time driving to another place and stay away from this place. read more

My cousin came to visit from Texas so we stayed at Chaminade for the two nights he was here over the July 4th weekend. We had breakfast here both mornings. Walking up to the room, we were immediately greeted and given an explanation of how the breakfast buffet worked. We were also told that we could order a custom omelette from the chef, which we did. There was plenty of typical breakfast food to choose from but it was clearly of higher quality than other hotels because they clearly made an effort to put out the right amounts of food to keep it fresh. We never had to wait on refills of our coffees and waters and our empty plates were almost instantly whisked away once we had emptied them. The second morning, there were the same typical breakfast foods with a few different varieties that I was grateful for. I think buffet breakfast was $15/adult which is really not bad considering the great service and comfort you experience, not to mention the convenience of not having to drive elsewhere. I also made reservations for dinner here for one night. Again, I was greeted immediately as I walked up to the area and given a brief explanation of what was available. From my name on the reservation, I was happily surprised that the entire wait staff seemed to know me by name. David (I think was his name) even helped us pick out a wine and poured us a bit to try in case we didn't like it. Just like breakfast, the quality and speed of service was incredible. The wait staff works hard, yet they happily assist you as quickly and as well as they can. Each person I interacted with was extremely pleasant and played a surprisingly large role in how I rated Chaminade as a whole. Judging from the older reviews, management has clearly made some changes as my experience was a COMPLETE 180 from the reviewers' a few years back. I highly recommend giving the Sunset a shot if you're on the fence. read more

We were staying on the property so we thought we would have breakfast here. The service was friendly but honestly the food was nothing to write home about. Standards buffet faire, which is really not my thing. The bacon was tasty (hard to go wrong) and the hot cereal was pretty good as was the fresh fruit. I was a little disappointed that they did not have a regular, plated breakfast. I guess the price ($16) was fair. We ended up eating nearby the next morning for breakfast. read more

Father's Day lunch may have been the problem. The staff was attentive and trying hard. Unfortunately, I don't believe that they read their own pre fix menu. Nothing other than the burger was as stated on the menu. The cheese fondue was some kind of potatoes it a coating...not sure. Etc. etc. At $35.00 each, we were underwhelmed. These are trying times and they were keeping everyone safe. We will wait for things to begin returning to normal before returning. We will return for the intoxicating scenery! read more

This place is not so bad. When I went to their website, I saw that it cost $30+ for Sunday brunch but no mention on how much Mon-Sat was. That's where yelp comes to the rescue. Thank goodness for people posting reviews and prices where one review stated 4-5 months ago that it costed $15-16. So I figured, not bad especially for the convenience of it; I was hungry. So it costs $15.95 but I think double for Sundays (according to the website). It was well worth it. Plus, I came on Dec 3rd where there was a Santa event. I didn't have kids but Santa's jolly face still brightens up my day. Lol. read more

Absolutely amazing seafood, roast beef, breakfast foods, desserts, chocolate fondue bar, omelettes made to order, cheese blitze rolls, pastries, fruit, baked brie loaf and much more Sunday champagne brunch for $30.95. They do not have it other days and it ends fairly early, at 11am but you just have to get there at that time and they kept serving until much later. Beautiful forest and beach views. Highly recommend for Sundays. Other days I would only recommend if you want an early buffet or an expensive a la carte breakfast but with nice views. They only have a more plain buffet until 9:30am on other days than Sunday and a la carte breakfast until 11am. Highly recommend there Sunday brunch. Service is excellent every day. read more

We came here this morning for Breakfast with Santa. So the staff was seriously phenomenal, but the food was VERY limited for a buffet. Like I thought it was a joke, seriously. I got some gingerbread pancakes which were cold hard pucks that tasted like someone grated fresh ginger into. Way gross. They were out of hash browns which blows my mind since there were only 5 other tables being occupied, so they had plenty of time to make more. Oh those were cold too... Such a poor execution. read more
