This community center has everything you could want for its local community. This development is fairly new, less than 5 years old and already is a great facility to the surrounding area. Been here a month and already I have met parents from Miami Lakes, Pembroke Pines, and Weston who come here specifically for their quality programs and awesome staff/coaches. This community center has all things athletics Volleyball, soccer, indoor/outdoor basketball, weightlifting, aerobics classes, karate, and a senior center full of activities to occupy your time. You need to pay in order to use the gym which technically speaking is just as competitive to pay a regular gym member at LA Fitness. All sports and activities are open to everyone not just Miramar residents. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Any questions regarding summer camps, sports, or events everyone is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Even the maintenance man takes pride on how clean and how great this facility is. Very much appreciated by everyone.

In fact, it is also a voting precinct with very sociable, respectful ladies with good senses of humor - it is always a treat to check in and vote there. The building is next to the Miramar Police Station for the west side of town on SW 186 Ave., and Fire Station 100 (which fronts SW 184 Ave.), as well as very close (steps) to a church and 2 schools. A small subdivision which is part of Sunset Lakes HOA, consists of townhouses, some with garages, and you can't beat the location next door to the Shoppes of Sunset Lakes - Publix, Wells Fargo, Montessori, 7-11 gas station with carwash, fantastic vet - Dr. Schooley - nail salon, barber shop, dry cleaner, take out Chinese, Matteli's (small but great to have Italian food back in our area), large Sushi place also with very nice outdoor seating, State Farm, judo studio, and sorry cannot remember all the places there! And a fairly new (small) mini park due north of the elementary school on SW 184 Ave.(eventually we will have shade, but not in my lifetime :). NO, I am not a Realtor or agent or employee for the City of Miramar - just a homeowner since early 2001 and hope people will not only take advantage of all the Sunset Lakes Community Center has to offer, but also the general Sunset Lakes Shoppes and all that is special about our area. PS - Super Walmart 2 mi north on SW 184 Ave., and Super Target and Memorial Miramar and GINORMOUS Regional park with many sports activities, Olympic sized pool, just 2 mi east on Miramar Pkwy, etc etc PLUS great entertainment of all kinds at the Regional park. My only wish is that we could donate foodstuffs etc during the year to the Community Center for people who may be in need. Thanks for listening to this "old woman." I believe we still have a Senior Center, but I take care of my husband, who lives at Home Depot and Publix!

Sometimes certain weekends or evenings you will see the kids are paying the soccer or football leagues or even practicing on the empty fields. Usually you can find easy parking to your desired area unless there's a big sports tournament. ( happened to me once) The park has a community center, shaded play area for the kids, score board, basketball court, tennis court, few picnic tables around the kiddy play area, vending machines and clean restroom. Shaded stands and trees for parents and guest to sit and watch the games. The park is well kept... grass is cut and workers are always seen keeping the area tidy. Few tress in the park are dedicated to the passing of some loved ones. So that makes it special to me. Oh I just remembered that they have a hall that you can rent for special events. I attended a birthday event there once and the room was clean and spacious. It did not smell stuffy and old. So that's a plus.

I mainly come here for the playground because it's well kept and has tons of shade. Plus it has that foam floor so your kids can run around without you worrying if they're going to fall down and get hurt (or eat sand - either or!). Not only do they have a great playground area, but they also have a huge shelter that can be rented out for events. I've actually used this location on several occassions for 5th grade picnics and it's always a wonderful time. Besides the shelter and the huge open field adjacent to it, there's an area that's set up with a running trail. What's cool is that every few yards there are little stations set up with exercises that are meant for you to work into your run. A street with big shady oak trees runs alongside the park, making it a nice view overall. Most importantly, for me, is that this park is never packed and the people that come here are decent. Whether they're here to workout or spend time with their kids, everyone minds their own business. Plus, there's no fee to get in. Love this park!

The Miramar Branch Library was born from a partnership between the City of Miramar, Broward County, Broward College, and Nova Southeastern University. It was conceived as a place in the Town Center where people could be educated and participate in a variety of programs. The library was completed in 2008 on a 4 acre parcel of land deeded by the City of Miramar. The ambiance of the library is welcoming and conducive to a peaceful reading and studying environment. The first floor library boasts a spacious and well-organized layout, making it easy to navigate through the extensive collection of books. The shelves are neatly arranged, and the variety of genres available caters to a diverse range of interests. The library collection includes 100,000 items. There is a multipurpose room that can host 100 people, tutoring rooms, study rooms, a conference room, 100 computer stations, wireless hot spots, a storytelling and program room, drive up book return, space for Friends of the Library, and public art by Robert Calvo. The second floor is used by Broward College and the third floor belongs to Nova Southeastern University. The librarians are knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to assist patrons in finding the right book or resource. Their passion for literature and commitment to promoting a love for reading is evident in their interactions. The Miramar Branch Library offers a plethora of resources beyond books, including a computer section with high-speed internet access, making it an excellent place for research and study. The comfortable seating areas provide a quiet space for reading or working on personal projects. One aspect that particularly impressed me was the library's commitment to community engagement. They regularly host events, book clubs, and educational programs for all age groups. These initiatives foster a sense of community and intellectual growth among the library's patrons. The Miramar Branch Library has adapted well to the digital age, offering e-books and online resources alongside its traditional collection. This forward-thinking approach ensures that patrons have access to a wealth of information in various formats. I love how this library fosters a love for literature, a commitment to education, and welcoming atmosphere making it a standout destination for bibliophiles and learners alike. I highly recommend a visit to this library for anyone seeking a quiet place to read, study, or simply immerse themselves in the world of knowledge.

The statue of Mahatma Ghandi is 7 feet tall and weighs 800 pounds. Colored step stones leading to the statue represent the steps Gandhi took in his lifetime struggle to achieve freedom to his people. The statue of Ghandi was sculpted by Matt Glenn of Big Statues, Provo, Utah in cooperation with Sculptor's Guild. They both contributed toward the cost of the statue. The rest of the $50,000 statue was paid for by The Kerala Samajam of South Florida, a local Indian cultural group. They were also able to have the name of the road that runs past the statue changed to honor Ghandi. Mahatma Ghandi was an Indian activist famous for teaching non violent resistance. He advicated for equality for all people, Ghandi was an inspiration to Dr. Martin Luther King during the American Civil Rights movement and former South Africa President Nelson Mandela during apartheid. Ghandi led the Indian people to freedom from the British empire by using civil disobedience. He was assassinated on January 30, 1948 by a Hindu extremist who objected to his tolerance for Muslims. On August 15, 2021, India celebrated its 75th Independence Day from British rule. I loved discovering this tribute to one of the most influential men in history.

I paid $6,000 for maternity care and only attended three appointments before deciding to transfer to another provider. After leaving, I requested a refund minus the cost of the care I actually received, which I felt was a reasonable request. Initially, I was offered only a $1,000 refund, which I did not feel reflected the limited services that were provided. After nearly two years of back-and-forth communication trying to resolve the situation, Galina eventually agreed to refund $3,000. However, despite that agreement, the refund was never actually provided. Over the course of this process I repeatedly followed up politely by email asking for updates or a timeline, but the situation was never resolved. Meanwhile, I had to seek care elsewhere and even pay out of pocket for emergency care through another provider. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating. I paid $6,000 and after months of trying to resolve things respectfully, I was left without the agreed refund and with very little care provided.
