It is a treasure trove of upscale beach decor, women's clothing, accessories and gifts. The shop is bright and cheery and merchandised spectacularly. Your eyes can't take it all in and you feel the need to explore every nook and cranny of this boutique. There are many areas within this shop for jewelry, handbags, shoes, dish towels, beach tees, clothing, soaps, hand creams, placards and signs and so much more. I personally bought really cute sneakers, a soft Ocean Isle Beach sweatshirt and a bright fuchsia top. There were other things I wanted, but I just had to stop myself. The Mermaid Cove Boutique was so much that I was getting carried away. It's such a happy place. Go see for yourself. There are two other Mermaid Cove Boutiques. Everything in there is extremely overpriced-- I found several items in there that I'd bought before at Marshall's for $15 and they'd priced them at over $90. They also only tend to carry bigger sizes, so if you're anything from a 00-6 they won't have your size. But to finalize my point, and the real reason I felt driven to write this review was the astonishingly subpar & disrespectful customer service. Five of us women walked into the store & were greeted with only a cold stare by the two employees working. No smile, no hello, nothing. As the youngest of the group, I guess I wasn't dressed to their standards (modest sweater, jeans) because the entire time they watched my every move as if I were a juvenile delinquent & was going to steal something. As if there was anything in there worth stealing. Anytime I walked into a part of the store that wasn't visible by the front counter one of them followed behind me and just watched; only me & none of the other (older) women I was with. My mother & grandmother tried to ask questions and seek assistance with some clothing items & were rudely dismissed. Workers also didn't allow us to use our homeowners discount, despite showing proof. Highly discourage anyone from shopping here, I'd recommend trying Island Breeze or J. Huffman both in Sunset Beach and both are highly skilled in customer service and satisfaction.

I appreciate the genuineness and honesty, especially when it comes to feedback when trying on clothes. Come on ladies, it's really nice to have a second opinion when it comes to how clothing looks on you, and I have never been coaxed into buying anything that didn't compliment me. The clothing here is high quality and I love the selection of tops! I have an obsession with blouses that don't cling to the midsection and this boutique has the best inventory by far! Pair any top with a pair of KanCan jeans (sold at Emerald Grace as well) and you have yourself the cutest outfit, whether it be for work or going out! Seriously... I REGULARLY wear my purchases to the office and then switch out some accessories prior to going out with friends. The versatile clothing allows for me to have that easy of a transition. Be sure to check out the jewelry section too! Whether you like statement pieces or minimalist looks, the accessories are my personal guilty pleasure and tie together all of my Emerald Grace looks. Obsessed with this boutique is an understatement. Half of my wardrobe is from here. I'd give it a million thumbs up if possible. Stop by, you will not be disappointed. Update about COVID-19: Shopping at EG has continued to be relaxing in the wake of this pandemic. When you enter you are greeted with hand sanitizer and a brief message regarding their COVID-19 policies. There are arrows throughout the store regarding the flow of shopping traffic, only one person is allowed at the register at a time, clothing try-ons (as well as the dressing room) are disinfected prior to returning to the sales floor, and there are limitations with returns to ensure the safety of future shoppers. I enjoyed being able to shop leisurely and have a relaxing retail therapy session while also knowing that the current pandemic is being taken seriously and my safety was a top priority.
