And the owner, Joan, is an amazingly sweet and kind woman who knows her stuff about swimming. We initially booked on a Wednesday, and my son was the only person signed up. Joan called me personally and explained the situation. She was very apologetic and accommodating. She even discussed my son's development and agreed to move him up a level. They are flexible and happy to make adjustments if your kid ends up in the wrong class. My child had Colin as an instructor, and he absolutely adores him. He cannot wait to go back. This is an adorable place to teach your child water safety and get them swimming. I have no doubt we made the right choice by enrolling our son!

Wlad Luna in the main Suncoast YMCA office walked through the whole process with us by phone and by email, and that attention was much appreciated as it's tough to navigate the details when you're not physically living in that area yet. We also spoke with a woman who answered the phone at Greater Ridgecrest, and she not only directed us to call Wlad but also answered all our questions about our local branch. He went from never swimming, to going across the pool with strong kicks and pulls, and diving down to get toys in 8 lessons. There were days when he was afraid of the water and days when he was not and Mollie just goes with the flow. She is happy, calm, patient, and makes the kids feel secure. She's incredible. All I can say is "WOW"! I wish I would have known about Melon and Miracle Swimming a long time ago…read morebut the universe works on it's own time. I am going to be 66 very shortly and this was my birthday gift to myself. 60 of those years were spent taking lesson after lesson with no success. Nobody targeted my fear, I never felt SAFE! From start to finish, Melon stressed to listen to our bodies, go at our own pace. If you feel unsafe or nervous "come home to your body". She allowed us to move as fast or as slow as we wanted, we were in control. She encouraged play and lots of it. When we play, we are relaxed, discovering how our bodies move in the water and how the water will naturally bring you to the surface if you allow it. Also, she encouraged us to move slowly, don't rush anything. I played and played and played some more, slowly gaining confidence and comfort in the water. I released all inhibitions and felt like a little kid again. Melon said when you're in control, the skill will come naturally. Boy, was she right! I listened to everything she said, did everything she said, and if I wasn't comfortable doing a certain thing and felt out of my body, I took a step back, returning to my body until I was 100% comfortable and ready to move on. By day 2 I was treading in the shallow end, by day 5 I was in 12 ft. doing cannonballs and swimming, unassisted, un-tethered and felt a joy, satisfaction and pride I haven't felt in a long time. I always felt safe, comfortable and heard. I never felt pressured to do anything. I finally let go and fell in love with the water! If you are fearful of water, the deep end, not being able to touch the bottom or just want to feel 100% comfortable in the water, take this course!! There is no judgement as we are all there for the same reason. We want to be heard, seen, understood and to feel safe without the pressure of what is "expected". Come as you are and trust Melon. She will guide you to success!!!

Miracle Swimming offers great swim lessons for adults!…read more If you have had a hard time learning to swim for any reason and you're an adult, this is the swim class for you. Some of the students are very afraid of water and some not so much. The class size is small allowing for lots of time with the instructor and lots of practice time. The teachers are super experienced and very patient as well as super nice. The Berkeley pool is WARM! You won't freeze in there - perfect for beginning swimming. The Berkeley classes come with practice sessions for the 8 weeks following class, so you can practice in a nice, warm pool with other students. I have taken 3 of their courses, and I very much recommend them! I took the Beginning and Next Step classes in Berkeley with Richard (a great teacher!) and Ocean 101 in Sarasota, FL with Melon (founder of this school). Sarasota has the #1 beach in the US - look it up! Miracle Swimming has classes all over the country. IT'S TOTALLY GREAT! I had the best time and it was well worth the money to me. If you are at all interested, don't be shy about contacting Miracle Swimming with your questions or maybe buy their book first.
