Back in the day we drove older cars and I always felt like I was being swindled every time I took my car for repairs. My husband's boss at the time recommended Sunrise Starter to us and I just cannot express how good and honest these guys are. Paul, the owner, always tells you up front whether or not is even worth invest the money in repairs. And the time it will take to fix. Honest estimates and he doesn't try to get you to fix anything else unless he believes you really need it. Mind you, this place is er 10 miles for us but even for an oil change I would bring my car to them. They don't do body work as far as I know. Just an example of the service. Once I took my car and Paul told me after taking a look at it that he could fix it, but that it really wasn't worth investing the money, just to drive the car as much as it would go and then get another car. Understand that fixing older cars is their meat and potatoes, but he was honest enough not to swindle me. We have recommended people to them just as we were recommended (there is no bonus for this nor do I know then in a personal capacity) and everyone has been happy. And now that they are in a bigger and better location. Where a Midas used to be in Sunrise off of University dr. They are even better. Highly recommend! read more

I have used Sunrise Starter many times, and every time I left the location with a better understanding of my car and the work that was done. The personal attention from Paul and his staff makes all the difference. On one occasion I took my car in with a noise. It turned out the belts were wet and a bit dirty due to road construction in my neighborhood. Paul placed some heater blowing hot air at the car and the noise was gone. When I asked how much, he said it was nothing! He explained that they didn't do much, and I explained to him that they took the time to find the issue and dry the belts. He said not to worry about it! That level of honesty is hard to find and one that I certainly appreciate. Another thing that I like is that they show you the parts that are taken out, show you what was the problem, and then show you the new parts installed. Excellent customer service if you ask me. I could go on and one on, but it all boils down to honesty and integrity. They will do the best work possible to fix the problem, and if it makes sense to invest the money and do the repair or get a new ride. My family introduced me to this shop in 2000 and was so pleased how honest Jaime is but be careful with Paul and more so with his son. I have been bringing my cars there since 2000 but I have also notice since they moved to the new location. Paul the owner his demeanor has changed towards certain customers or depending on what work you needs to be done to your car not only will he pick and choose when to over charge you or be honest. He sometimes will also come off sincere to you but it's a front. the follow up calls which was nice of them a new implement. I also started getting text messages from them randomly to bring your car in. So I replied thank you but not now but I will soon. So it so happens my car wouldn't start so I called said hello I started to explain what happened he got rude said he didn't know who I was and gave me a towing trunk phone number very short with me and rude. So it so happens my car started so I drove straight there when I went in no one busy standing around so I asked him what percentage of his customers he remembers and which ones he doesn't he said depends it depends on how much I drank the night before so I got upset because he only remembers when he makes large transactions but I bought it in with a minor issue oh he even got upset that I had an oil change sticker from some where else like I need to explain why I did. He really set me off he never apologized nor botherd to try to keep my business. I have had several cars there I even spent on one car repair alone after a bad car accident I spent 2,300.00 but he doesn't even remember unless you in there often. He truly doesn't like to be bothered with the small stuff but he try's to put up with them. Just cross your fingers and hope he's in a good mood because if he's not he will be short with you and maybe rude and times. they can be honest or sometimes they will stick it to you without you knowing if your smart enough you will catch it beware read more

I checked out the options of doing the work myself vs other options. I Googled my problem and Sunrise Starter & Alternator came up. I called to see what their charge was and I was elated to see how affordable their solution was. I dropped by to leave the keys and met Paul. He was very pleasant, professional, and asked probing questions about the problem and agreed that the alternator was the problem. Very highly recommended. After wasting time with two local area GMC dealers who can barely be bothered to answer the phone, much less schedule your car for a service, I found Sunrise Starter highly recommended on another ratings site. I called and Paul the owner picked up the phone, gave me an immediate quote (much lower than the dealership) and said he could get my car fixed that day. I had to arrange a tow with AAA (amazingly fast btw) and a few hours later I had my car back. Paul was very accomodating and friendly and did a great job replacing my alternator and battery. There are very few people I trust and in that short list, there has never been a mechanic I trust until the day I met the owners (Father and Son Team) at Sunrise Starter & Alternator Shop. BTW don't let the name fool you these guys do every mechanical service on any vehicle, regardless of the make and model. I have been going to them for over a year now and my first experience was when the dealer told me I needed a water pump, alternator and a starter and since my car was out of warranty, I asked around and a friend referred this place to me. She bragged about their integrity and professionalism and boy was she right. I brought my car to them and sat in the waiting room while they did some diagnostics on my car and it turns out the only thing I needed was a new battery. If you are tired of going to the dealer for a $60 oil change, only for them to come back and tell you that you have $1,000 of additional repairs that need to be done, then stop. Get a second opinion before you let some unscrupulous dealer take your money. Go see these guys and they will tell you if there is something really wrong with your car. And in the event that there is something wrong, it will be a lot cheaper going through them than it would be going through the dealer. And the work will be done right the first time with them. These guys are experts, more so than any mechanic that a dealer can possibly assign to your car. They have been there 30+ years. That says a lot in it of itself, if you ask me. We were introduced to Sunrise Starter by a friend. This is the second time we have taken our 13 yr old car to Paul. The first time the engine was acting funny and we thought the car was undriveable - Paul looked at it and told us to use a better grade of gas - no charge. The most recent visit was with transmission issues - we were expecting several hundreds if not over a thousand in repairs - turned out to be $26 for a replacement cable. My point is that even if you are not knowledgeable about your car and have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous repair shops in the past, you have nothing to fear here. So my truck had been feeling a little different in recent weeks -- a shudder or clunking coming off of a complete stop. Given that I have a cross-country trip coming up and nobody wants to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a failed transmission, I resolved to have my tranny repaired, rebuilt, or replaced before the trip. I got to Sunrise Starter & Alternator ten minutes before they closed. Paul immediately greeted me, wiped his hands off, and hopped in the driver's seat. We drove around for a few minutes while he asked me questions about the problems I thought I was having. After a quick diagnosis -- thankfully not the transmission -- I scheduled a day to drop my truck off. When the day arrived, I brought it in and hung out while they checked my truck out. I brought my laptop, listened to some music, had some coffee, and joked with the friendly staff. In what seemed like no time I had my keys back in my hand and a truck with new oil, some grease, a handful of new parts, and a new outlook on the trip.
