Last year, we decided to look into hiring a photographer to take our family pictures as we were worried that the BP oil spill could possibly ruin the beautiful white sand beaches of Destin that we love. After looking into a number of photographers, we decided on Expressions Beach Portraits and could not be more pleased. They didn't charge a sitting fee and the deposit we put down went towards our order. The price was incredibly reasonable especially considering the quality of the professional photos we received. The photographer came and met us at our favorite spot and did a great job getting our two toddlers to not only look at the camera, but also smile while looking (something we have yet to be able to do ourselves!) We were able to purchase all our photos in an electronic format and had a hard time deciding which one to feature on our Christmas cards since there were so many great shots to choose from. We have since gone back to Destin and hired Expressions Beach Portraits to do another session a couple of months ago. The quality of experience, convenience and product were consistent with our first experience. We plan to have Expressions shoot all our future family vacation photos. He was a lot more personable than most and didn't slap me with a bunch of overpriced package deals. He worked so well with us and I am very satisfied with my choice. We were looking for a photographer who would accommodate our family of 8 and not overcharge like most places. Daymaker was it! They were on it from the beginning working with our schedule and even met us at our location. The photgrapher was very nice and polite. He took many great pictures and did not only limit us to 20 or less like most places in the area. We received our pictures back in just a few weeks as promised and they turned out great. I would highly reccommend them to any family visiting the area that is just really wanting a a good amount of captured memories and at a very fair and reasonable price. Fourteen people, ages 9 months to 80 years, and every picture was absolutely perfect. Very relaxed and fun, with gorgeous lighting and the background scenery perfectly chosen. Unlike other photographers we have used, you pay one price for the photo session and it includes high resolution downloads of ALL of your photos, making the pictures for our large group very cost effective. And they were GORGEOUS! I couldn't be happier with the pictures. Future MIL wanted to get family photos, and we got SO. MUCH. MORE!!!! We started before sunset, which was gorgeous and Jan knew all the best angles and how to catch the best light. Every side is your good side when Jan's behind the camera. She took photos of the entire fam and individual couples (future MIL and FIL, fiancé and I, fiancé's sister and her husband). It was family photos, maternity photos (fiancé's sister is expecting), AND.....SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS!!! My fiancé proposed during the sunset photo session, and I was so surprised and just a crying hot mess. Jan captured all of it, and made my ugly crying look beautiful! It was such an amazing experience. She said it could take a day or two to get the photos. She sends you a link to Google Docs, which is super convenient. She had the photos ready in less than 24hrs! Her prices are high, her service is shit, only half of the photos were usable and the other half were missing some really major moments- not a single bridal or groom solo!!! Arrived 30 minutes late to the reception and the entrace included fireworks and she said "someone should have told me"- I told you by telling you what time to arrive like WHAT?? Zero outreach, communication was always from me, she canceled our engagement photo session after we had already booked tickets and hotels and scheduled all of our other wedding appointments around since we were flying in from California- zero attempts to reschedule, zero apologies, zero engagement photos for the wedding. I mean there was no lack of trying to blame everything on us- we are across the country! Every single shot her second shooter took had to be tossed. They were so embarrassing and beyond amateur. You will see her best work on her site so I will add some of the ones she doesn't show you later on if I can bring myself to. The few pictures we got from Lacey that we liked were great! But there was so many mis-steps, the worst communication and just a terrible overall experience. I had to ask my friend at her wedding as to who the photographer was behind all these beautiful pictures because I was just beyond in love with what I saw. Lacey is amazing at what she does. If I could describe her photo style in few words, following words would come up to my mind; Candid, Natural, Just literally pretty and pure at its finest. Her style is not what you usually observe from other photographers who do portraits. She has a very artistic approach to her work, which I loved. I honestly had a horrible day on the shoot day; the lady who was in charge of my styling took forever and sadly I arrived at the meet up location late. As a person who takes punctuality very seriously, I felt extremely bad so I did what I could do at least at the moment - Keeping Lacey updated via text. It was such a relief from my end that Lacey was so cool about it; it was very professional and understanding gesture of her. Due to this styling disaster and punctuality issue, I had an anxiety attack that day yet Lacey's suggestion and guidance made me feel a lot better. By the end of the shoot, I was back to normal (haha). I was indeed scared when I received the email from her saying that the photos were ready because I thought it was gonna be a disaster but hey! the final products were surprisingly pretty! And I give all the credit to Lacey so thank you so so so much. For those of who are scared of the shoot because you have never done it before, book with Lacey! She literally tells you how to pose and what to do! Worth every penny. P.s: Just a little tip from myself; If you are planning on booking with Lacey, do it NOW because this talented lady is booked up all the time. Does not tell you enough as to how good she is? ;)
