I recently booked a family photography session with this photographer and, unfortunately, my…read moreexperience did not meet expectations. During the session, there was very little guidance or direction provided for posing. We chose this photographer specifically because of her advertised expertise in sunset beach photography, so we were expecting more structure and creative input to help capture our family in the best possible way. When we received the final gallery, we were disappointed with the overall quality of several images. The sunset--one of the main reasons we booked--was barely visible or lacked the vibrant colors we anticipated. In fact, some photos we took ourselves on our phones captured the sky more vividly. Additionally, several images appeared soft or lacked sharpness, particularly around the eyes, which made them feel unusable. It was very clear the photos were edited using AI tools. To her credit, the photographer acknowledged that some of the issues were due to moisture affecting her lens during the session. She offered either a complimentary reshoot or a 30% refund. While I appreciate the effort to address the situation, neither option fully resolves the disappointment--especially since we are not local and cannot easily return for a reshoot. None of the prints are worth printing. It was very disappointing as this was our first family photography session with my new granddaughter. Overall, while the photographer was professional in communication, the final product did not reflect the level of quality we expected based on her portfolio and pricing. I would recommend that future clients clarify expectations around posing, editing style, and contingency plans for technical issues before booking.

Absolutely perfect!…read more We had Carrie and Gary come out to our family reunion on the beach, and they were amazing! Fourteen people, ages 9 months to 80 years, and every picture was absolutely perfect. Very relaxed and fun, with gorgeous lighting and the background scenery perfectly chosen. Unlike other photographers we have used, you pay one price for the photo session and it includes high resolution downloads of ALL of your photos, making the pictures for our large group very cost effective. And they were GORGEOUS! I couldn't be happier with the pictures. From the moment we called to book our photo shoot, when Gary determined the sunset time and what time they would arrive, to the day of our pictures, when we asked to recreate a photo from 20 years ago of my kids, Gary was extremely helpful and professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat. You will not be disappointed with your pictures! I'm so glad we trusted Carrie Alves Photography with our precious memories. Worth every penny!
