READ THIS REVIEW!!!! Best place for your parents! Hands…read moredown! My parents have been at The Forum for years. They started out in IL (independent living) and 3 years ago we lost Dad and Mom moved into DL (dependent living). All buildings are connected so Mom gets to see old friends at Sunday Brunch. (She is 93 now.) She has made many new friends in the DL building who are charming and so nice to her. I'm writing this because over the last 5-6 months I've been joining Mom for Happy Hour and have gotten to know her friends. I can't tell you how many stories I hear them share about other facilities in Dallas (Austin and Houston too) about how bad the food is and how they themselves (or friends) are ignored and not cared for. They told be several times that when they tell people how awesome everything is at The Forum... their friends don't believe it!! LOL, LOL. Well... it's true! Yes, I confess I take Mom to Sunday Brunch so I can get one of the best omelets in Dallas (in the IL building) and the rest of the food is so nice. My sisters take guests and we always celebrate birthdays and holidays at Sunday Brunch. Enough about that. Let's get to the brass tacks. The staff is probably the best I've ever encountered. If I'm with Mon and she has an ache and needs some Tylenol, I call the front desk and the nurse brings it to her within 15 min or so. VERY RESPONSIVE!! (Abbey is so awesome!) Mom has a Help Watch on her arm and can press the button and help comes immediately. As well, the staff will call me with every incident (like sliding out of her chair, etc.) Major or minor - they update the family immediately. AWESOME! Ok. So you are looking for a place for your parents. Absolutely check out The Forum. Have frank and direct conversations with the staff who show you around (and see if you can pay to sample the Sunday Buffet!!) Our family has so much peace knowing even the cleaning people care about a quality job and if they observe anything that needs attention - they alert the right people. I personally feel indebted to The Forum. THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING SUCH GOOD CARE OF MY MOM!!!!!!

But you do see a lot of people that are not doing very well walking around with their walkers and their motor scooters. This place is for somebody that wants to get out be social and make friends. Their food is awful. When I say awful, I mean worse than elementary school cafeteria. No flavor. No seasoning. So bland. They called roasted things that were just literally boiled in water things. At least they only charge $75 a month for food, but that's all it was worth. Also, I got a message from somebody on next-door that said they used to work at the Highland Springs cafeteria and that their health Inspection never passed. I can believe it because on the top of the counter I saw the things that had been there over a year and a half my mother was there that had never been wiped off or cleaned. Really disgusting and I'm glad she's out.

I have been sleeping on the floor for two months now with terrible arthritis because I don't have a bed. Medication, durable medical equipment, clothing, jewelry from my deceased mother, my computer, food, furniture, everything, in the trash and all because Maddie, the housekeeping manager, acted on her own and against company policy after being informed that we still had time and we were not finished moving. I cannot believe someone could be so cruel working at a place with such a vulnerable population. I am hurt beyond words. Neeli Smith, the director, is very sweet and she apologized for Maddie's actions and couldn't understand why she would do such a thing when the policy is clear and it was definitely violated. The company offered $1000 to replace my computer but nothing else and I refused their offer. When I refused their next offer of $3000, the asset manager asked how I was going to pay past due rent. I thought that was incredibly unprofessional and shows me that the safety of residents isn't their concern. I have tried to work this out but have been left with no other choice but contact an attorney. It's a sad situation. I am left to suffer over one employee's very bad decision and she goes on to work at the Emerson.

Since that time the facility changed management & became The Preston of the Park Cities. My mother has been a resident since the place first opened as Harbor Chase. The place is gorgeous and they are far more creative with their food and menus than any other place we initially looked at. Although there has been turnover in staff over the years, the best key players on staff stayed & have become real assets to the place. When Covid hit we were tremendously concerned about how this would be dealt with and how the residents would be protected. Watermark, who is the management company have done a phenomenal job handling the pandemic and keeping residents safe and their families well informed. The staff & residents were fully vaccinated by late January. Finding a great place for a parent, spouse or relative who needs assistance can be a very trying time in everyone's life. Last May, my mother in law moved into the independent living at the Wellington. There was still some of the same staff from 9 years ago. (That says a lot in itself). Everyone welcomed her and made sure she was included in activities. She received encouragement and support that helped her with the transition of downsizing and being recently widowed. She adapted quickly and was extremely happy to have found friends. After only being there for 4 months she became ill and hospitalized, during that time the staff at the Wellington continued to care for her cat. My mother in law was admitted into hospice and the Director of the Wellington made sure that her final days were at her home with familiar surroundings. He guaranteed an hourly well check on her and making sure they would turn her every 2 hrs. We are glad she didn't suffer long and that she was comfortable in her last days. The Director & staff checked with us regularly to offer help and support during her last days, they even found her cat a home. I would have given a 5 star rating except that the facility needs some updating, but floor plans and the windows make up for that. Can't say enough good things about both independent and assisted living at the Wellington!
